Sals 7 Sussex Central 5

Back and forth game. Sals went up 2-0, SC came right back to lead 3-2. Sals went back up 4-3, SC came right back and went up 5-4. Sals tied it in the top 7th. SC got men on in the bottom but didn’t score. Sals got 2 in the top 8th and shut down SC in the bottom. Sals executed at least 3 perfect bunts and some very smart base running. SC pitchers walked 8 guys and 5 of them scored. SC also had some mental errors - throwing when they should not have, not throwing when they should have, throwing to the wrong base, and not swinging when the pitch was close and the game was on the line. Bottom line as I saw it - too many walks came back to bite them in the butt. Tense and exciting game, though, and congrats to both teams.

I've said this before. When the few schools in a small state play each other during the season and then meet again in the 'championship" the results are often anticlimactic. The best team oftentimes doesn't show up.
