I still think we are jumping the gun a bit . I believe Smyrna is good but they have beaten Delcastle and Appo .
Stopping the spread in HS is easy.

I agree with 123, let them play somebody first then talk to me. Putting DelCastle and Appo. In the same class as Sallies is laughable.
SJ99 When did I say HVT would win easy over Lake.. anyway I had Lake ranked #2 in D2 before this game... if you have followed this forum over the summer you would know when I started slobbering over Smyrna.. heres a clue.. when I found out about the Offensive change and who was running it...
as for Lake being #2 its more of testament as to how bad D2 is this year.. Lake plays good D.. being there really isn't any good offenses in D2 this year that is enough to win.. We all know HVT starts slow and by years end they become unbeatable.. They have the numbers advantage...
A good blitz package beats the spread all day long. I'm not saying bring the house. High schoolers are easy to confuse. I'm probably a little biased though. I've really soured on the spread offense lately probably because I've see so many bad versions of it. I did see Smyrna against Delcastle and I thought they ran a very good scheme offensively. Very well coached. That was Delcastle though.
You guys crack me up though. The criticism that gets tossed around about certain coaches. Wilson is the only coach to win a championship at st marks since the 70's and Johnson has basically put Lake back to being respectable . How is that possible since they don't have a clue what they are doing ? Glad I don't coach anymore. Everyone in the stands is a genius. I say that in good fun. I just think it's hilarious.

And of course now you want to retort to the "D2 sucks this year and Hodgson always starts slow" line.... Other teams start slow too. Lake could barely beat the likes of Mt. Pleasant and Brandywine at the beginning of the season. Hodgson has #s but so did St. Marks last night. That's obviously a problem for Lake when their going up against "borderline" D2 schools.
Whats your problem? It's just an opinion .. SO I think HVT wins it this year? wow I must be off the reservation in thinking that.. LOL lighten up its not that serious...
Let me take a moment to speak about Freddie Johnson. What he has done with that program is nothing short of amazing. He has built a solid program with some really great kids going through there. It wasn't too long ago when they couldn't even manage to finish the season. While there is little doubt the offense could use some work, they have a solid defense and I think the offense will come around as the season goes forward. They play hard and they play clean, what's not to like?
I don't have a problem except you flip-flop on what you say way too much. I think Hodgson wins it too but really you gave no other teams a chance.
Grind up the clock and keep their offense off the field is exactly what Sallies will do. Smashmouth football beats basketball on turf all day long. Just my opinion.
Congrats to the Senators! Coach Jones and his staff have got to be proud of that performance. Both teams played well, but in the end the Senators came out on top with the overtime victory. It was a huge win and a great game to watch. There were a lot of good plays. Running back Jerry Warren (#4) was a powerhouse with his drives, getting a TD. One of the best QB sacks I’ve seen locally came from William Scott (#58) who blasted through Baltimore Poly’s O-line. But it was when Nadeem Boggerty (#22) fought through and forced that fumble in O/T proved to be the backbreaker to Baltimore Poly.
