Had not seen either team before today, William Penn let Smyrna of the hook. They had several opportunities to close out the game in the first half and couldn't get it done. What was clear is Penn's line wasn't as good as it was last year. I was impressed with Smyrna's qb. I read somebody said he was off today, I didn't see that. He didn't get much help from his receivers early. Penn's defensive plan A was great. When the qb went down that imo was the turning point in the game. 25 for Smyrna was an absolute stud. Performance today ranks as one of the best I have seen in high school playoffs, that being said Penn never switched their strategy against the spread. Smyrna was not throwing but Penn was playing spread like they were. 25 proved he could not beat them throwing make some adjustments. Penn lost their mojo after Smyrna took the lead. 55 DE from Smyrna was outstanding today. Pressured the qb all day chased down backs and wrs was all over the field. Penn's playmakers made no plays, especially in the second half. Penn's 1 I think had a td pass right in his hands and dropped it. Smyrna's coaches getting a lot of press today they impressed me. They definitely won the coaching battle. Reeder vs. Smyrna #25 looks like a battle of the best two rbs in the state should be a classic.
