I never said the earthquake failed. I said the two 2pt conversions failed.
The earthquake did not look as dominant as to what I'm used to seeing..(how about that?) Granted, it was Smyrna first and only scrimmage and I'll be the first to tell you that what you see in a Smyrna scrimmage is never what you see on Gameday. Both teams were still trying out things.
Whaley is a great player, all around great player, running back, receiver, whatever. And I feel like he should be recruited up more tbh. I just have a hunch that everyone is going to put so much pressure on him to be the next Knight, I'm just saying, let Whaley be the kind of player Whaley is, and then him and the Smyrna offense will keep trucking.
And I live in Smyrna, my car ride from the high school to my house is no more than 5 minutes.
I did see the warmup field goal. The in game field goal I feel like was a bad hold and he never got a good kick on it.
I felt like the backup threw the ball better than the starter, but I also feel like the starter runs the offense better.....RIGHT NOW. Again, what I'm saying is not trying to be an insult to either kid. I'm sure they are great kids, and great at football, it's just an observation. No ones perfect and everyone has something to work on.
I won't go out and say Middletown will have their way with Smyrna. I'd be a fool if I said that, but The Cavs lost some talent too you know. I think the game will be a close to what we saw at last years first game in Middletown. Back and forth game coming down to whoever has the ball last.
This season I think Delaware football will be more fun to watch as a whole.
As far as Penn, I'm actually glad you can agree with me. I remember you talking that one kid up and I tried looking for him but the numbers were wrong on the jerseys so I didn't know who he was. If it's the back that brought the 60-50 yard touchdown run, he is everything you said he was.
Other than that one play it seemed like they couldn't move the ball. And on defense, half them didn't know where to line up. Calling out wrong defensive schemes. Again, these are all teachable things and Penn will only get better.
