Scrimmages

saw Caravel vs. HVT yesterday. Wont comment on the 2s as CA only has 30 kids if that and HVT has like 80 lol. Anyway the 1's CA scored first play on a wheel route where the converted qb threw a great ball and Montgomery torched the D. That was the only scoring by the 1's. All in all I thought CA looked better and more polished HVT has numbers but not the size or speed as normal. HVT QB needs work threw at least 4 picks into the chest of CA defenders CA run defense could be vulnerable but pass D is very good

CA has some new kids. A big 300 lb lineman who is not as tall as Linton but thicker and a tall receiver transfer from CR who looks promising. The big kid who I posted a video of and tore it up during 7v7 has moved to Florida and is gone

I think HVT is in trouble in D1. Which is odd considering their numbers

Went to the Tri-scrimmage of Delcaste, Howard VT, and St. Elizabeth's yesterday in Belvedere. It was a defensive scrimmage to say the least. Between the 3 teams there was only 1 TD scored (from the starters). Can't remember if it was Delcastle or Howard but it was on a 10-15yd slant in the End Zone.
Bowman from Howard had 1 nice reception.
Could say a lot more but I'm staying positive. It was only the first scrimmage for at least 2 of the teams.
Good luck to all 3 teams in 2017

Are there any scrimmages for the rest of the week folks???

Appo, DMA and Howard have a tri-crimmage on Friday down at appo.

Not sure. I know for a while they were demathas rival. They would win one year and lose the next.

Minnesotas Wr Stefan Diggs played for them before we went to Maryland.

Not the D1 laden teams of the past but still better than most DE teams.. Think Sallies but with much better and faster skills

Damn, like Sallies but with speed?? So in that case they'll have a couple really good 22 year olds but instead of being slow and dumpy the rest of the team will be worth a shit???

That's gonna be a tough team to beat

Those Diggs Good Counsel teams were absolutely loaded with D1 talent and high level D1 talent and I believe a handfull of them are in the NFL now. They still have some D1 guys just not as high level. 2010-2012 they beat DeMatha 4 straight and one year ended ranked in the top 5 in the nation. Then the money left and they came back down to earth. Head Coach Bob Milloy (beltway Bob) retired after last year and some kids bolted for other schools St Johns dc, Bullis and St Frances so with a new coach and exits who knows how they will be this year but there is still some talent there and their lines are always good.. new HC Stefanelli was already on staff his son played FB for those teams and was a bruiser actually my favorite player from those teams, did all the dirty work for the stars lol I believe he plays at McDaniel now

ahh ok...well that should be a good test... that's a historically good team in MD

It will be a scrimmage game. GC opens the following week vs Gilman. Also WCAC teams start practice Aug 1 so Smyrna will have their hands full

I will be surprised if Smyrna can move the ball much vs GC.
I remember when Red Lion/ECA scrimmaged them a few years back and couldn't get the ball past the 50yd line.

I honestly don't think that Smyrna is that concerned with this scrimmage. Like last year, it's an opportunity to work on some things, and see some kids in simulated game action. The intangibles and concept development will be much more valuable that yardage or points.

Anyone watching the dematha/Gorman game on espn......the kid that was mentioned earlier about living in Middletown and plays running back for DM just scored a 30ish yard TD run for DM.

They lead Bishop Gorman 10-0 in the 1st.
The boy wears #6

I forgot his name at first but it's marshawn Lloyd.

They looked like they were gonna run away with it at first but BG is starting to pick it up. They now lead 13-10

When he got up from a tackle later in the game, his arm had a 'bad angle' to it. Pretty sure it was broken along the forearm. The talking heads didn't comment on it, and it was subtle, I didn't continue watching to see if he came back in the game.

St.E's beats Tower Hill 21-6 in a game situation scrimmage. St.E's looked pretty good on both sides of the ball. Tower Hill ran the single wing. Low numbers on TH I think I counted 26-28 players suited up.

Does anyone have a final score of the smyrna v WP scrimmage? Looked like the score was close but I know WP had a couple TDs with the 2nd/3rd teams playing each other and smyrna had all their points with the 1s in.

It was an odd scrimmage to me because smyrna's defense stood out and the offense looked average when throwing the ball. It was impossible for WP to stop the earthquake formation though. I have a feeling smyrna will be relying on that a lot

With the 1s playing on both sides, I think the score was something like 14-12 Smyrna. I can't remember if Smyrna scored two or three times. Either way, they have plenty to work on next week. William Penn is playoff caliber team. They might even be playing their last game of the season at UD.

Went to Tatnall vs AI scrimmage today. It was game situation format entire time, which I liked better than the 10 play mess.
AI was able to move the at will the entire time. If they cut out their penalties they have potential. Tatnall might have had 5 first downs the entire (2hr) scrimmage and probably 3 of them were due to 15yd penalties by AI.
AI would have scored every possession but, once again, penalties in the Red Zone killed their drives. Defense was solid though, they had at least 5 sacks and a couple interceptions. Tatnall scored on their first possession, after 2 back-to-back 15yd penalties by AI, with toss up TD pass to Duncan on a small DB (and there was a pass interference on AI that play also!.......). Duncan was in on almost every tackle on defense for Tatnall too!
One of AI's WR left with a shoulder injury headed for the hospital. Apparently he had injured it before. Best wishes to that young man.
