Caravel Vs St. Thomas Moore: Caravel is to hot right now might be one of the best back courts in state with Parker and Alderman.

St. Georges Vs Smyrna: Can't see smyrna guards sticking with Bones and Kyson have to pick St. Georges.

All downstate final???? SMH!!

I'm going St. Thomas More & Smyrna as well. Smyrna presents matchup problems for most teams & 7'2 in the middle wipes out a lot down low. St. George's definitely has the backcourt advantage & can win if they hit jump shots but I like Smyrna. St. Thomas More just plays together & does what it takes to win every night no matter how much people doubt them. What's wrong w/ an all downstate final? It hasn't happened before to my knowledge & this would be the best chance.

Smyrna will have a difficult time beating St. George's due me seeing it very difficult for Caleb to get his normal stats vs those caliber guards

This may come down to the role players on both teams. Garnett and Nwankwo will be a lot to handle for St. G's inside and #14 Watson shot the ball well vs WB. Smyrna's 1-5 are better than St. G's 1-5. Unless Rawls and Hyland shoot lights out, I have to give the nod to Smyrna.

This is St George's year. Smyrna gets it next year.

St Thomas vs St George's final

Smyrna had a cake walk to the semis too.

Saw the earlier game between St Thom and Caravel. STM won pretty easy, but that was with Ravelle. Caravel has improved. Enough to make up the difference? Maybe so. I'll go with Caravel.

I've had St George winning the championship from the start. Smyrna will give them a game.....but Rawls will not be denied.

St. George's guards are head & shoulders above other backcourts but that's on the offensive end. They haven't done anything special or extra that I have seen as far as on the defensive end. They have actually played zone during most of the games that I've seen them in. Most teams gameplan to stop Matthews from beating them but that hasn't worked very often so it may come down to how Coach Rod plans on defending him.

It's kind of hard for me to call Smyrna down state half of it in is new castle county

Half of Smyrna is not in New Castle County man stop that...LoL. I had never heard such a thing when Smyrna was at the bottom of major sports like basketball & football but now all of a sudden it's hard to consider them downstate...I mean they do play in the Henlopen Conference.

Actually it did happen once - 1980. Indian River beat Cape in the final that year 66-65 at the old Delaware FieldHouse. Fans from both teams were chanting "downstate" throughout the game!

It actually is but you can get to Wilmington faster then the you can Rehoboth from Smyrna look it up they need to re do the conferences

Down state having a little success now they going to put them upstate let us have a little joy for write now lol

You can get to Wilmington faster from Smyrna cuz Smyrna is at the tip of Kent County & Rehoboth is in southern Sussex County...LoL.

And yeah I'm sure Smyrna wouldn't have a problem traveling all the way up there across the bridge for their so-called conference games if they re-did the conferences as you suggested...smh.

Off topic but anybody think the semifinals gonna be sold out ? Doesn't seem like it with what I saw at the quarters but I'm not buying it off the app again had some problems

Smyrna...defensive size wins it. They will score just enough. Win by 5-7.
St. Thomas More......under radar all year. Recruited players get it done. Win by 10+

Smyrna wins it all and goes for back to back in 2017-2018.

Smyrna is Kent and new castle county and Rehoboth is not southern Sussex county laurel seaford delmar IR school are southern which would make Smyrna even closer to upstate school than downstate schools. That's why Middletown area schools Smyrna and Dover area schools need their own conference it would be better for those schools besides one or two teams in Sussex county every year they are just not competitive with teams from Kent county up

You say they haven't done anything special on Defense but Smyrna hiding Caleb in that zone

The topic wasn't about Caleb's defense it was in response to it being said that he would have a tough time getting shots off vs St. George's caliber guards so I was pointing out that their guards do their damage mostly on the offensive end...I never said he was a defender so what are you talking about? That's a whole different topic & Smyrna plays that zone to their benefit so the big man can sit in the middle.

It would be interesting to know how many Smyrna kids are from NCC...

I can tell you that they are Smyrna kids & have been in the Smyrna program since feeder & middle school outside of Nwankwo who moved here of course. Not to mention 2 of St. Thomas More's top scorers Bloodsworth & West are also Smyrna kids playing in the Final 4. If anything it would be interesting if anyone could even keep up w/ how many kids on the upstate schools live in their actual district so let's not even have that conversation.

So you are saying you would have teams such as Polytech, CR, Dover, Smyrna, Middletown & Appo all in their own conference? I'm guessing St. George's would be thrown in there too since they are right below the bridge in Middletown?

Smyrna's success this year can be placed on the shoulders of the big guy. From watching them play he is the difference maker. He changes the game on so many levels. Defense, rebounding, creating match up problems which allows Matthew to exploit the situation. For Matthew's and many delaware gaurds it's a learning process to understand how to play with good bigs. How to use them to your advantage & more importantly how to reward them and keep them working for you. Good gaurds know when u get your bigs fired up to play it makes for a easy scoring & defensive night for u. Matthew's not at the point of understanding yet.

I'm guessing the games being streamed may have a slight impact on attendance, but I still think the Bob will be 3/4 to full by 2nd game tip.

Why so defensive? First off I could care less about the upstate vs downstate stuff. I think its silly secondly I only asked because a few year back I made the statement that with rise of the athletic programs, new building and nice facilities as well as the schools locale I could see Smyrna becoming a destination school (drawing school choice students from outside the zone). I wasn't taking in terms of just the basketball team but all the teams. I know the wrestling program does and so does football now. I was just curious if my prediction was coming to fruition. DE has school choice so the zones don't really mean much anymore..

Not defensive at all...just providing the facts for those who were kind of insinuating otherwise because I found it kind of funny that it was even brought up now that Smyrna has been coming on strong in recent years. I personally think it has a lot to do w/ the population & all the new developments being built in the area that weren't there years ago so now Smyrna has more kids to choose from vs the 90s where they were just as small as schools like Lake, Milford, Woodbridge, Seaford, etc.

Caravel/St TM I believe it comes down to Bloodsworth/ Alderman match up at PG. I'm taking Caravel just because I know a couple of the kids. It's 50/50 honestly

Smyrna/StG First time watching Smyrna in person this year and they look gd but I really didn't understand why Woodbridge didn't make any defensive adjustments on Matthews in the 2nd half.If St. George's role players play like they did Sunday and Hyland has a shooting night like he's capable of I'm taking St. George's. Should be the best game of the tournament so far!
