Sanford got a couple BS foul calls late in the game w/ under a minute left to keep them in it as well for those who were not there & are drinking this koolaid insinuating that they didn't earn that W tonight. Good hard fought game tonight by what I would say were the best 2 games in the state this year. Sallies could still prove me wrong Saturday but I'm taking Polytech.
I could care less who won the game. But... there was some pretty bad calls at the end.
Sanford also lost the game by missing too many layups and foul shots or those calls would not have mattered.
Just for you doubters out there. Sallies Donte DiVincenzo is the best player in the state. It is not even a contest.
Cant wait to see what he does at the next level.
Anyone else see 8Yaz with his vintage Red Sox hat on sitting on the window sill right by the first concession stand on the left at the top of the stairs about 20 minutes before the first game?
He got the opening tip too.Originally posted by APboy:
Donte clearly demonstrated tonight that he is the best player in the state! He did it all - points, assists, rebounds, blocked shots, big plays, dunks, three's - you name it!
He'll get consideration, but let's be honest about things here. You could have a cut-out figure of John Wooden standing on the sideline, and you would be successful in Delaware basketball when you are sending #5 out on the court for you every game. We'll get to see how good of a coach Haley is next year.Originally posted by APboy:
I think Haley is a strong coach of the year candidate.
Sallies has the numbers to always have a good freshman team in every sport. Other schools do not have that luxury. They may not have a team or play the better kids up to JV. Having a good freshman team does not always translate to varsity.Originally posted by dovetail:

Wittelsey and Brown will be veteran sophomores and they will be joined by key members of a 15-2 freshman team. Schedule will not be as demanding as this year. They will do ok I think.
Probably in my top five or ten. But, I've been going to HS basketball games for a loooooooooooong time.Originally posted by BriggsBeall:
Lastly, we get to see Dante one last time. In my years going to games, he is one the best 2-3 players I have seen.
You had to be waiting for this. Name your top 10. How many 2's were better than this kid?Originally posted by 8yaz:

Could not agree more oldtimer22 and same goes for every sport Salesianum offers. Now.....-with the numbers they bring in they should never have a down year regardless of who they play. On a side note....what gives with their baseball program?Originally posted by oldtimer22:

Looking over this years rosters and the returning players you would have to think that Sanford, Dover, Appo and Mount will be the top teams next year.
Technically it's basket interference, but the outcome is the same- points are awarded,Originally posted by APboy:
Sorry oldtimer and pksundevil, but slapping the backboard is not goaltending! I think it should be, but check the rules, it is not!
Saw Burnett four times this year. I was wowed the first time I saw him, against Newark, 30 pts, carried MTP down the stretch in the 4th quarter to victory. The other three times I saw him, he was just OK, wasn't even the best player on the floor for his team, including against Sallies in the Semis. He's very talented, needs to work on squaring up his outside shot and if he's serious about getting better, he should consider spending some time in the weight room during the off-season.Originally posted by J12:
I didn't see much from Burnett tonight either but it was my first time seeing him so I'll assume that he just had an off night.
Your right it is not goal tending but it is a technical foul if the ball was on the backboard or rim. It was! Foul shots and the ball back.Originally posted by APboy:

As for next year at Sallies, I'm not really a Sals fan, but their JV team was 14-6 and the freshmen were 15-2. They'll be tough again next year. Finally, as to Donte, he's the most fun player to watch since Elena!
