Well... Opinions very... I was hammered all last year also... It's okay... I have very thick skin... And I was right... ;) So... I'll buy you a ticket for the Sallies game on 9/23, so you can see first hand... But I'm sure this board is going to blow up before then, pertaining to Smyrna... And you'll see what I mean about them being better...

I'm genuinely asking. I know they killed it last year, to the dismay of all the prissy private school pickled old women who post on here all day, but am curious as to why they're even better now?

Great coaches adapt to the hand they are dealt...

Imagine both of them in the backfield at the same time...

Plus, the possibility of a pass on any down and distance...

Leddie has excellent hands, speed and size, I think he could play a number of positions.

....they will smoke the big S this year! Sals D-Co still trying to figure out wtf happened!

An offense being multidimensional is a very good thing. He comes from a team that rushed 59 times (20 passes) vs Spartanburg, and then turned a Soph QB loose for 48 passes vs Goose Creek. Will be the 2016 version of Pressley/Smallwood backfield.

Yeah Coach Marks will more than likely go back to the offense he used when he was a t redlion with Smallwood and Presley and 8th grader Sills.

Brown is slated as a ATH because he can easily move to WR in college at 6"1 195-200lbs with quick feet and great speed.

Brown loves to play and has a hell of a motor, really don't see him coming off the field for the Eagles whether at RB, WR, DB

Why would you say they're better? Ain't got no stars
2 of the best backs in the State and a couple good lineman transfers they are going to be very good. You don't get a much bigger star than the RB Knight.

should be good for a couple more years, and then I think it will be back to par, sub-par success. Wrestling will keep them on the map, not football.

Here goes Will, Nolan, Leddie, & freshman LB Debo highlights from their 1st scrimmage.
Nolan

Will

Leddie

Debo

DBs will have trouble tackling their size and LBs trouble keeping up with their speed. Sounds like a DC nightmare to me.

How do guys think the trio of Henderson,Knight and Brown stacks up to MT's trio Wade,Baynard and Godwin?

They're super talented no doubt, It's a little early in the year to compare them to that group in my limited experience. Will be great watching them against MT on Sep 1 to see how they all stack up.

For some reason I think this question is a set up for an attack, but in all honesty, there are good and great players. Henderson, Knight, and Baynard are good. Wade, Godwin, and Brown are great. Henderson is no Wade, Brown is a better overall player then Baynard, and None of the above are a Godwin.

If you look at where Johnny Manziel was 5 years ago...it is very comparable to Nolan Henderson.
(That is talent wise. Manziel has chosen to flush his talent down the toilet.) Henderson made a throw in the 4th quarter of the title game where he was rolling right almost to the sideline and then hit a receiver cutting left after running along the sideline. No DE HS QB I have ever seen could have made that throw.
(Ben Williams, Darius Wade?

If he gains some size and strength he could be Gannon like or Vergantino like at UD...

Pshhhhh. Please.

to be fair- the jury is still out on this question.....and if we are basing part of this on winning titles well they only won 2 and one of those they easily could have lost (Newark).....so lets not be so fast acting as if Smyrna's combo is not on the same level.
....like it or not it is a good conversation to be continued as time passes

Best QB performance/stats I can ever recall in DE HS football history- that includes comparison to the Cowtown Crew

I'm saying on an individual talent level, Wade is the best QB I've ever seen and Godwin was the best high school player I've seen in person with my own two eyes over a number of years. I think any of the 3 from Smyrna are better players than Baynard, and he was a really good player.

Like you said, the jury is out so let's see.

And I agree with AI that this question was asked to totally get people criticizing current players (that don't play for ECAravel) because that's what some people like to do. ECAravel is off limits though.

Wade's junior year he had one of the most productive O lines in DE HS FB history. Without that core the Cavs lost twice to the Slowskys in Wade and Godwin's Senior YR.
I will still take Wade as the best DE HS QB I have seen in 30 years. Henderson could change my mind this year.

As it stands today, Wade, Godwin, and Baynard are probably the best trio that Delaware has seen, in a while. The question still remains when it comes to Henderson,Knight, and Brown. What they do this year could end all the debate, but one great year won't put you up with the best that has played Delaware ball....there's still plenty of kids that I can think of that these Smyrna players need to jump to reach that pennicle, and they can do it, not saying they can't, just we need more of a sample serving from them to start predicting what some of you are.
I too would like to see what they do next week, because the Cavs can hang with them, and personally (my own opinion of course), Middletown fields probably the best defense in the state the last few years, and if anyone can slow down or stop Smyrna it's them.

As for the "Middletown almost lost championship" statement, be easy with that, because we can easily say they could have won the year before against st: marks being up by 14. So that argument is invalid. The four years Wade and Godwin were playing, is probably the best football I have ever seen.

Smyrna looks like they can compete with what Wade and Godwin out up. but the jury is still open.

......and let me reposition my previous statement. In 2013 the Slowskys beat Middletown 23-7 in the title game. If the Cavs had scored half the time they were inside the 30 they would have won the game 35-23. It was the damndest thing I have ever seen. I know that one of the regular posters here thinks that the Slowskys won because of officiating. There may have been a pass interference call on the Slowskys in the end zone that wasn't made.

.....in any event the Slowskys won because of Troy Reeder and O'Neill but that was a helluva Middletown team.

I agree with HS...if Smyrna runs the table this year you have to compare them with the Wade/Godwin Cavs.......the one caveat is that the 2011-13 Cavs played great defense. Then again maybe defense doesn't matter if you can put up 60 points a game.

I wasn't even thinking about it or answering it from the standpoint of statistics, championships, or records. I was analyzing it as far as college and professional playing potential. I was looking at body make up, speed, mechanics, skill level, and upside for future improvement as if I were a college coach. If I were basing it all on stats for made up players in Madden, I would choose Henderson and Knight, because with those stats they would have made those players unbeatable. If I am getting paid as a college coach and my job is on the line every year, I am recruiting Wade and Godwin. If they are taken from me by another Coach, I will call the next two pure athletes on my board who would be Brown then Knight. If I have the first pick in the NFL draft and they were all the players on the board, I'm going with the sure thing, who is Godwin.

This post is taking NOTHING away from any players mentioned, they are all great kids and players for the state of Delaware, and an offer is an offer, but there is a reason that players get the amount of national recognition (outside of Delaware) and offers that they get or better yet, don't get.

I thought Baynard was one of the most underrated players to play in DE in awhile. Playing in the shadows of Wade/Godwin was the reason though.

Smyrna is a completely different animal in my opinion though. They have the most explosive offense that I've seen. Some posters say they're just a passing team but that is completely untrue. Will Knight was the best RB in the state last year. If you sleep on him you will get shredded.
