Smyrna vs Tech

Game of runs so far...Smyrna’s defense looks suspect again just allowimg Burton to just shoot wide open 3s. Burton is tough & is guarding Matthews man to man on the other end being very physical...Matthews may have about 9 points & one 3. Tech cannot handle Garnett on the block...he is close to a double-double in the first half & didn’t even start.
Cape will eat in the paint allnight in the paint too with Rickards and Robertson too... Thats Tech biggest weakness is in the paint.. They have nothing...
Man them boys can’t keep up w/ the Varsity level speed...LoL. The one big kid on Tech’s JV team did have a nice dunk off the feed w/ no dribble.
The one kid is a dag-on JUNIOR, I would hope so!!!

I don’t know the official stats but pretty sure Garnett had 20+ pts & near 20 rebs, Bloodsworth had about 20 as well, Tech did a good job on Matthews & he may have had about 11 pts at the most w/ only 2 in the second half but he can have off nights when he has Bloodsworth & Garnett picking up the slack.
Tech just didn’t have it tonight & looked like a totally different team than that first game vs Smyrna. They didn’t create as many turnovers leading to transition buckets & Burton didn’t have that much help this go around. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had around 25 while also harassing Matthews all night...not too many teams have their best offensive player guarding the opposing team’s best offensive player. Burton is making his case for 1st Team All Henlopen North.

What a game!!! I'm glad Smyrna had a good first half beside the fact that Matthew had so many turn over and Bloodsworth and Garnett was there to save the day. Garnett did his thing tonight, not sure why he did not start tonight but played a great game. What in the world would Smyrna do without Bloodsworth, I been following Bloodsworth for a while now and what I do know he can score when he wants to, but he is more focus on getting the ball to the right person to score and is open. I know STM is missing him, but I'm sure there was a good reason for him leaving there. Veasley-Johnson played great tonight as-well, had some great rebounds and made his foul shots..
Veasley-Johnson has came a long ways for Smyrna since the beginning of the season & has really stepped up defensively, rebounding the ball & getting a few buckets here & there.
I was thinking Matthews since he was the biggest name in the game...not sure how Matthews would fare at a D1 school but it would be interesting to see. As for nerves I doubt that...that bad game was all caused by Burton’s defense. He may have got 2-3 open looks all night & was forced into a number of turnovers by Burton.
