The surprise for me here is McCants w/ 22 honestly...he looked absolutely lost down low vs Smyrna Garnett & Veasley owned him. Now my question is for those POY voters...Where does Hyland fall now? I like Hyland but let’s be honest against top teams he had 16 vs Penn (0 in the first half), 13 pts vs Sanford (1 field goal), a tough earned 23 vs Smyrna & now 15 vs Cape. I like Hyland A LOT & in his defense his #s go up & down depending on how teams/coaches decide to defend him because he does not have much help but as has been said earlier w/ a good scouting report he can be contained. W/ that being said it makes POY this year that more interesting. Personally...I wouldn’t argue Hyland, Matthews or Robertson.Cape beats St.Georges 74-54.. Bones 15.. Rickards 18 and Robertson 25.. St.Georges got within 5 but Cape put them away in 4th... Mccants had 22...
Man listen don’t let them #s fool you & honestly I don’t think those are even anywhere near correct cuz Garnett was swiping hella boards...anybody at the game could see McCants was like a deer in headlights. Every time he got the ball he appeared to be scared, traveled or turned it over. Smyrna literally OWNED him in the paint so please keep it real. Not surprised with McCants. They don't go to him enough down low. Against Smyna he had 9 pts and 10 rebounds to Garnetts 8 pts and Beasley 10 pts.
Most of Mccants points was off of put backs... Bones was throwing up crazy shots that where hiting otherside of backboard.. Smh.. Cape should of beat them by 30...Man listen don’t let them #s fool you & honestly I don’t think those are even anywhere near correct cuz Garnett was swiping hella boards...anybody at the game could see McCants was like a deer in headlights. Put Robertson or Matthews in Hyland situation and they wouldn’t even come close to what he did this season so imo I would have to base my decision on body of work defense, how each player made there team better and sees who pulls themself away from the pack during tourney time if I was a voter not saying Hyland is a lock jus saying voters should take everything in considerationI couldn't vote for Hyland for POY based on his performance vs the the better teams this year, especially when he got shut out in the first half against Penn. Yeah he ended up with 16 that night, but they were all meaningless points. Needed those points in the first half.
You missing one big thing voters all ways look at is wins and losses...The award is for regular season.. Nothing to do with tourney... Its clear Smyrna and Cape seperates from the pack right now...Put Robertson or Matthews in Hyland situation and they wouldn’t even come close to what he did this season so imo I would have to base my decision on body of work defense, how each player made there team better and sees who pulls themself away from the pack during tourney time if I was a voter not saying Hyland is a lock jus saying voters should take everything in consideration

I agree. I hope you aren't talking about top 2 for this year's Player of the Year? I don't think Davis is even in the POY discussion this year. Certainly not top 2.Robertson separated himself last night. Bones no doubt is a great player and definitely top 2 in state (Davis being the other)
Bones was tossed late in the game I hear. Lucky for St.G they still have one regular season game remaining, which he will now miss.[/QUOTE
Explain to me how Guru! You lose all credibility when you make comments like this....smh.
Your right but if my memory serves me correct there will be at least 1or 2 playoff games before the actual votes go in they’re number 1 in the state because they have an all around team, please understand I’m not taking anything away from him he’s one heck of player first team Allstate no brainer but just say he separated himself I don’t see it, wins and losses definitely count but once again Hyland has no consistent help and he’s in this conversation take Rickards off this team he wouldn’t even been considerYou missing one big thing voters all ways look at is wins and losses...The award is for regular season.. Davis and Hyland are clearly the best 2 players in the state. Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder can see that. However, they are not top 2 in my POY. My POY is Robertson from Cape.
You missing one part.. Hyland and Davis cant play defense at all. Robertson can do all you mentioned and play 10 times better defense than both of them ..If I’m starting from scratch I’ll take Davis. Completely agree w @Legendary_Coach about team around the Cape kids help their standing. If Hyland had help he would put up 25 consistently and win. However, when Davis gets rolling he has the most complete game. Obviously, he can score but can rebound and pass as well.
Lmao.. Thats a good one...Robertson is not a better defender than either of those guys. His team plays pak line which is help and they help the helper. So he is a product of great team defense. He cant stay in front of Madea
