St George beats Woodbridge 53-52 on Rawls 3 point play with less than 10 seconds to play.

WBridge led 27-26 at the half after a slow start that saw them trail 9-1 early. Tied at 39 after 3.

Raiders led almost the whole 4th quarter. Took a two point lead with about 30 seconds left before Rawls pulled it out.

Woodbridge deserved to win this one. They were the better team today and clearly deserve to be in the top 10.

I agree , Woodbridge didn't get a fair shake with the refs ... StG. was in the bonus the whole 4th quarter

I agree EE. Neither team is a title contender. Instead what I took away was the sad role that parents play on a nightly basis across high school sports. Rawls' father was out of control. Same can be said for the Corbin's. If I'm a college coach and see that nonsense, I'll gladly move right along in my recruiting process. Pathetic.

Stop lying Corbin's father not out of control . Stop ya. Bs. All basketball loving was sitting with a few stG fans a.... hole . It's terrible to watch refs that give away games. And to hear a person of your kind to say contenders. There's not a real dominant team in the state . Maybe your mouth is too loud and far as college coaches don't worry yourself with that. Your kid becomes there own in college.

If two guys can beat you, do you deserve to win?

I know what you mean. That's a valid point.

But the two St George has are pretty good. And to me, Rawls is POY hands down. Second game I've seen him put the team on his back and get the big rebound, hit the big shot, make the free throws.

But today, Woodbridge was the better team IMO.

No moral victories. A win is a win.

And, with the point system, a loss can be a win. Which is BS

Do you think a win over Brandywine (2-14), 2 points, should be worth more than a loss to Mt. Pleasant (14-1), 2 points? We go through the back & forth EVERY YEAR about the point system but it is cut & dry to the point where every team knows how it works so schedule accordingly by trying to leave the cupcakes off of the schedule. What other option is there? If you use a committee to select the 24 teams you better believe you will have way more complaints of favoritism & bias by the committee. The system may have it's flaws but at the end of the day you can't argue the points earned which is the way it has been for years.

For example, I don't have an issue w/ the Henlopen South teams only getting 2 points for beating up on the bad teams at the bottom of that division and the Henlopen North teams getting 2 points for losing to teams like Smyrna & CR this year.

Seen Rawls father before at games. Argues with people and always yelling. Not a good look.

You are probably right. I don't have a better system. But getting rewarded with two points for getting slaughtered by someone will never sit well with me.

I'm not sure what else can be done but I guess your point could be that Mt. Pleasant beats Cape 48-42, Cape gets 2 points. Mt. Pleasant beats Dickinson 76-16, Dickinson gets 2 points as well which seems a little off...LoL. But then if you start factoring in how much a team loses by that would kind of be like rewarding teams for blowing other teams out which could get messy...just not sure if there is a better system to go by for our small state.

That's the only thing that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Rewarding a team with points for losing to a team they aren't even close to being competitive with.
