'Tis the season for any number of showcases, combines and football camps. For players who may be capable of eventually playing from DI down to DIII, what are your thoughts on which of these activities are most worth their time and money in terms of either offering especially valuable instruction or recruiting exposure? Can you suggest any good resources for a student athlete and their family to better understand how to increase exposure and make the most of interactions they do get with coaches? I know high school coaches will help with the process, but they obviously can't hold the hand of every player and honestly some are more knowledgeable than others in this regard. Thoughts?

Go to camps- each school will have camps held on campus during the summer months. Attend, learn, show off your skills.
Contact coaches- depending what grade the kid is in you may/may not get a call back (recruiting rules).
Send GOOD VARSITY film- don't waste their time with bad film or JV/9th gr film.
Attend a combine- NUC or the likes...get official measurements/times etc. Saying the kid runs a 4.5 and ACTUALLY running a 4.5 are 2 different things.
Keep your HS coach in the loop.
No need to hire recruiting services. Delaware HS coaches use Nationalpreps- free to the kids/families.
ALWAYS be getting better athletically- lifting, running, training...there is no offseason for this regardless of how many sports/activities they play.
