4. Dantley, SR A.I.
3. Roberts, SR Smyrna
2. Johnston, SR Mtown
1. Lynch, SR A.I.

Kane from woodbridge is ranked #1 but Wescott isnt a top 12 receiver?
Come on now.
Then how is Dover's QB a top 4 Qb but no receiver on the list. Evans has caught a TD in 4 out of the 6 games.

Not every school's stats are on maxpreps and I get that stats arent everything but theres dudes on that list with #s! And they arent anywhere to be found in the top 12 lol

Teagle from Mtown doesn't even start on offense? It's Guthrie, Johnston, and the 2 Griffen brothers. At least that's what I saw the last 2 games.

He was kicked out then suspended for the following game. That’s why you didn’t see much of him in the last two.

Teagle had to sit out the last game against Sallies. And got ejected early in the 1st half of the Appo game. You wouldn't have saw Teagle much these last 2 games.

He does start at safety and. Gets quality reps at Receiver. (I'm not saying he belongs or doesn't belong on the list) just letting you know you wouldn't have seen him the last two weeks

I wouldn't have Roberts that high. I don't think he caught a pass against Mtown. When I first saw this title, I expected to see A.i., Middletown, Hodgson, and Dover as far as receivers go.

Does a Sallies Receiver do anything but run block??? Would that make him top 10?

I would like to point out Wescott I even was unaware of him until the spring of last year. Even tho I had watched many game films of Kane. So it’s reasonable for him to be overlooked just because of the type of offenses the other schools run. Remember just because someone may be watching one of your players does not mean they will notice another. You really have blinders on when looking at prospects. Somehow his film ended up in front of me and he does have D1 ability.

Wescott from Woodbridge and Covington from Delmar are the top 2 WRS in the state, Covington has to have like 6 Td Catches already... in my Keyshawn voice .... Come on Man.....

That's correct. Middletown was also missing Smith earlier in game 3 & 4 for the same reason. He scored on a 60yd TD run on his only carry before getting tossed. Then missed the next game. Middletown was missing 2 key both way starters for most of 4 games and still never missed a beat.

Top 12 WRs
Guthrie, Mtown
Roberts, Smyrna
Wescott, Woodbridge
Johnston, Mtown
Lynch, DuPont
Carr, Brandywine
Hibbert, Penn
Watts, St. Andrews
Thomas, Hodgson
Lewis, McKean
Dantley, DuPont
Davis, Friends

@SwagDog That’s my 12 in my order from what I’ve seen. @FootballguyDE I’d like to see more from Regan. I know it is a running system but don’t see him getting of line on a good jam and routes are shaky compared to others on the list. But I only seen him once this year other than 7v7.

Roberts has been an outstanding receiver for the past two years. He doesn't stop being a great receiver just because the current qb doesn't get him the ball as often. It's a judgement on top receivers, not who has the biggest numbers this year, or did such and such in certain games.

I just don't see how you can even be considered for a Top WR list with less than 3 catches (on avg.) per game. There's some on the list that haven't even broken 10 catches on the year!

It’s not always because they aren’t good receivers as much as it is their team doesn’t pass or their QB can’t throw.

So then how do they make the cut over someone who is out there putting up numbers? (catches, yards, and TDs)

So if your #1 receiver in the state went to sallies and it was nearly impossible to put up big numbers would you just all of a sudden consider him not a good receiver and #1 anymore even though he has more talent than the guy you have at #10?

Delaware is just very run heavy. every team runs 1st. so unlikely for kids to get the ball a lot. its more important what they do with those opportunities

You tell me how you would justify that, and if it makes sense I will agree. That's along the same lines of someone who tore it up the year before but has been battling through injuries the following year and hasn't produced.

I mean Sean Regan for example last year with Gwynn they still barely threw and he put up pretty good numbers in only his first year playing WR and this year, his second playing receiver ever, he has barely gotten the ball but that doesn’t make him any less talented. I’m sure he’s even gotten better considering he was new to the position but Sallies will simply never throw the ball ever.

If a player has no previous accolades, you must go by current year numbers. And at the end of the year, you can use numbers, blocking, routes, etc to make an evaluation/comparison. But if the discussion is simply who are among the best receivers currently in DE high school football, having a 2X All State receiver (Roberts, Smyrna) high on the list seems to make sense to me even if his numbers are down for this year.

Looking at he numbers it seems folks are being a little hard on the Smyrna QB.. His numbers look fairly decent for Soph HS QB

48 of 86 56% 658 yds 8 TD's 4 Ints 92.1 QBR

better than last years QB at this point in the season

51 of 97 53% 640 yds 3 tds 7 ints and 58.7 QBR

not Henderson Sophomore numbers but decent for Soph QB IMHO

@SwagDog you have to remember all schools and stats are not on max preps. You have players with 2,3,4 games and it’s week 6. And I know some of them haven’t missed a game.

@SwagDog Poly has only put in stats for 3 of its 4. Mount has 5 of its 6 (Wallen and Collins have added to their numbers) DuPont has 4 of its 5 (Glasgow coach said Jones threw for another couple hundred against Glasgow and Lynch came back to add to his numbers) Brandywine 4 of its 6 (Coach at Appo said they were focusing on stopping the Carr kid because he had about 200 the week before and said he still put up 100 against them that’s 300 yards to what he has after 4 games)

Oh, ok. Gotcha. I didn’t notice that.
