TNJ preseason top running backs are now posted....and I don’t seem to have any gripe against this one....
Of course the top two are the ones we all would probably agree on. Peace and Watkins.
Division 1 leads with 11 out of the 17 players listed.
And Hodgson leads the way with not one BUT Two backs listed, with Darius Hale and Josh Ames
From my experience watching Hodgson, Hale is by far one of the better ones, but Ames surprised me when he stepped in for being a freshman. Not many 1st year backs can step into a role on a championship caliber team and just keep the train moving the way he did. I have no issue with naming those two one of best if not the best running back duo in the state.
My “homer” in me however wants to say to watch out for Najair Smith (his coming out game was against Smyrna, his first two plays, two rushes for 106 yards and 2 Touchdowns) and Ben Martin (ran the ball with grit when Scrappy wasn’t available) from Middletown. But I’ll let the play fall on the field and hopefully they can prove me right
