Dover QB was a jr. He is a apecial athlete and Dover is primed for a deep run. They have serious speed.
D1
1. Hodgson
2. Mtown
3. Smyrna
4. Penn/Sallies
5. Dover
D2
1. Delmar
2. Woodbridge
3. Howard
4. Tatnall
5. DMA (will play for chip)
Most talent Goes To Symrna they are number one
Middletown with Fry is #2 they lost a lot of production on the line. Some transfers could help thats probably their biggest question
Dover is 3 if they maximize the potential they have on the field. Very interesting team skill wise should have been better in 2017 . QB is Big time
Sallies will be much improved And will probably have the best overall lines in the state. If they make the right adjustments needed they could make a run for the title
Hodgson/ Penn/ tied hard to replace the production of Heyward but they have some studs that can do it.
After that nothing special
Woodbridge Is number one in D2
Returning Everyone Kane And Keeler will anchor a experienced team. Great coaching
Delaware Military Academy if they keep Alleyne kids a special talent if he stays in state they will be in the running
AI DuPont QB is gutsy and their style of play will put points up. Defensive will be much improved.
I put Howard here at 4 by default I think there is significant drop off after this
Delmar will score points but will will struggle on Defense losing 4 seniors on the defensive line and two all state linebackers. They also are losing two of their top three underclassman on Defense to recruting. That’s just to much production to lose on one side of the ball.
Milford without bowman is interesting I will leave it at that
Tatnall has talent with #1 at QB could surprise the division if they can protect him. He has a good arm and size. Shows the tools to be great if he continues to develop. 7 on 7 Should be a priority this off season to develop the chemistry needed with their receivers.
On a side 5 of your states top ten players are being recruited very heavily to finish their HS years out of state. Three are all but gone. Recruiting starts for these young men after their 9th and 10th grade seasons 2021 prospects are being offered now. It’s not 1985 anymore. And I’m not just talking about FBS offers. That’s why kids leave. When a recruiter from one of these Private Schools calls the kid and knows more about them then their own coach does kind of hard for the kids to say no. They are also bringing in college coaches to help seal the deal.
For example HS recruiter calls or messages your kid. Ask them how they are doing , and tells them
They would like them to play for X school next year. Ask them have you got any interest yet from colleges? Kid most of the time says no because they are probably A freshman Or sophomore. HS recruitier says really well I have shown your film to X college coach and they like it. I will arrange for them to contact you. College coach ends up calling or messaging the kid, or in some cases inviting them for a UnOffical Visit. This is legit interest that the HS recruiter Has set up. The kid sees this and basically it become a no brainer for them to enroll at new HS. Now all of this could have been done by their current HS coach. However it was not most likely because they lack the knowledge of how today’s recruiting works. This is the Private HS recruiters job. So he spends all day on these types of things every day. And its a race to start younger and younger. HS coaches need to brush up on recruiting in 2018. The younger recruiting coordinators at these colleges grew up with social media and are finding kids easier then ever. And Younger then ever.
The priority should always be getting your players to college through academics or football if they have the talent. It’s not winning games. Winning is secondary. Give me a HS coach that gets 90 percent of his kids in college for academics, and a couple scholarship kids D2 or better every year. Rather then winning games with kids that barely pass HS and never putting anyone in College. Deon Sanders has a great line about this last year. It escapes me but he said something along the same lines.
O and the 4 and 5 start kids don’t count. My grand mother can get them a scholarship just by putting them in a game.
