Dover, Del. (June 26, 2017) --- A school-record total 182 Delaware State University student-athletes have been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for their work in the classroom.
The Hornet athletes are among 1,209 from the 13 MEAC schools named to the 2017 Commissioner's All-Academic Team, which honors non-freshmen student-athletes with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
“I would like to commend the administrators, athletic academic support staff and personnel, coaches, institutions, and parents for their contributions to the academic success of these student-athletes,” said MEAC Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas.
Delaware State's 182 MEAC scholar-athletes ranked second among league schools during the 2016-17 academic year. Howard University was tops with 190.
The Hornets, however, topped all MEAC schools with 126 scholar-athletes among the women's sports teams.
