Games tomorrow, a few on Thursday at St Marks and Next Tues 7//25 thats it 10 total games

Tomorrow at St Marks you have St M vs Appo, Smyrna vs Appo, St M vs Smyrna

7/25 @AI Sallies vs Smyrna

That is pretty much it as far as compelling match ups

Any Intel from the games at st. Marks yesterday? Middletown embarrassed north east and DMA.

What about sallies, still flawless?

Appo looked ok, but the QB held on to the ball too long far too many times. they played really far off the receivers when they were on defense vs. StM and Smyrna. Good athletes on that team though. St.M has 2 really big receivers, the QB is tiny and him hitting the center in the head should be a concern as far as him seeing over the line. St. M DB's were tiny, one looked really really young and Smyrna took advantage of him a bunch...good learning experience though. Smyrna QB is suspect to put it nicely... he missed A LOT of open receivers. They have athletes but idk if the qb can throw anyone open. He did have a nice deep pass to Will Knight who, by the way, looks in great shape. Im thinking he put on 10 or so lbs of muscle since last season. the Smyrna DBs chirped ALOT and most of the time didn't back it up much. but they have state title swag so it comes with the territory. Brandywine has some really tall players, but the QB looks rough. Elkton looked decent but nothing special. Didn't get a chance to see dover but I hear they have good athletes down there and may surprise some folks.

BEnd97 Apppo did the same when they played CA.. QB took almost whole 4 sec before throwing..looked almost by design.. wait until someone comes open no progressions..like sandlot lol

I don't get it... this is the time when you SHOULD be taking those chances to thread the needle etc...

My son will be an incoming freshman at DMA... I hear they aren't doing well in 7 vs 7... can someone add some details to what they look like this season?

DMA typically runs their regular offense and defense during 7v7. basically they are just using the time to practice their plays (which may only have one or two receivers in the routes) on D they will run their 4-4 and blitz guys(which means the blitzer has to take a knee).. not conducive to winning 7v7.. DMA typically will have a decent team , good lines and a cloud of dust.. 50/50 play-off team

BigDEnd97... honestly they look like DMA. Have a couple of athletes looking for new QB but they basically aren't good at 7v7. It's not their game. They should still be expected to put the pads on get behind the big uglies and run their power read offense against a below average schedule and hope they don't get a strong defensive team in the playoffs for a early exit 3 yrs in a row.

Truth hurts... lol but I see where you're coming from. is the coaching the issue? scheme? or lack of good talent?

RR.. your right but they do not run a 4-4 if they did 4-4 is conducive to 7v7. The run a 30 stack (3-3-5/3-5-3 whatever you want to call the outside guys) which like you said definitely not conducive to 7v7.

Probably some combination of all 3. Don't know really but it's telling when you go 9-1 average around 28 pts and score 7 in playoff game then follow that with going 8-2 average 28 again but get held to 14 the week after only scoring 7 and losing to Conrad. Something is wrong.

BigDEnd97 why isn't your son playing with them during 7v7?

Thanks VOR I haven't seen them in at least 3 years trying to go on memory which seems to be fading lol

I didn't think Incoming freshman can play 7on7?

Also, nice piece of analysis BIGDEND.

@Sparty Smear the Queer- one guy runs around with the ball within a set boundary and everyone else tried to kill him. Guaranteed someone breaks something or cracks their head open every time... Sparty you would have loved it

Incoming freshman can play as long as they are enrolled. Some of the bigger schools or ones like MT may not let freshman play because of numbers

Okay I wasn't sure. It's been a while. Have the numbers changed on how many can be on a team?

I don't think there is a limit on how many can be on the team but numbers in limited practice time and playing time. Some coaches may not want to deal with having 50 or 60 kids out there.. invite only LOL. kind of a waste of time for a kid to just stand on the side all the time

I believe they only 'invited' one freshman to be on that team... Why? I have no idea. Unfortunately he wasn't blessed with my size but he's been playing football for 7 years now. I guess the coaches selected who they wanted to be on the 7 vs 7 team.

Dover is baffling to me.. don't understand why they are not better at 7v7.. are the kids not really wanting to be out there and just going through the motions? do they just not want to compete? I guess its the same thing that plagues them during the regular seasons. All the talent in the world just don't put it together and compete. I have heard Dover is a tough place to coach and the kids are just uncoachable at times.. It might get worse for them with the rise of Smyrna the kids that want to compete will choice to Smyrna if they aren't already

Dover just needs to be coached up. The ex Glasgow coach....Riley....or Howard's Coach Ritter would be perfect for this situation.

I saw Dover a few weeks ago. They have talented athletes but not great football players IMO. They had about 20-30 kids there but only about 3-4 that really looked like anything. The rest seem to be kids going through the motions. You have to have a certain aggressiveness to be good at football. They didn't show it.

No even after all that I think they will be right there at the end for a tight playoff race for 5 & 6 seeds.

One thing that stuck out big time was Smyrna's QB... if they have to rely on him at all, they're in deep trouble. I heard he looked great last season at Glasgow... but I didn't see anything last night from him that opened my eyes really. they also had a real cocky Left CB that talked big isht... but didn't do much except holler "TOO EASY" when he either didn't make the play or a bad ball was thrown...

Middletown gonna knock that cockiness right out of em week 1 when they post a 50 burger on that D ;)

MT- 55
Knight- 28

@Sparty see what I did there? haha

Glasgow was a talented group but they lost to Caravel for a reason. Their opponents last year:
Seaford 2-8
McKean 2-8
Hodgson 5-5 (wins were against McKean, Bwine, Christiana, Dickinson, Lake)
Newark 3-7
Brandywine 3-7
Christiana 2-8
Lake Forest 2-8
Howard 6-4 (wins were the 4 bottom of Blue Hen, Hodgson and a bad Mount)
Dickinson 0-10
St. George's 8-2 (By far Glasgow's best win of the season)

I think you guys would call that a DMA schedule.

Not that I would defend Smyrna or anything, being the Middletown guy that I am, but when you win two state titles In a span of two years, you're kind of allowed to talk that smack.

HOWEVER, if you're not backing it up with your play you should be the last one saying anything to anyone. Time will tell all though.

BOLD prediction RR, I don't think I could find myself making that prediction even if I thought that would be the score lol.

I am not emotionally invested HS.. other than I jumped out of the Eagles Nest and onto the Fry Wagon... "come get fried"
