I’m just interested to see what others think. If you had to pick what would you say is the weakest weight class when it comes to depth and what are the strongest?
For me I can’t help but think 144 and 157 are my two picks for the weakest when it comes to depth.
144 kinda a given because you have Radecki there and who’s going to be able to stop him from his fifth title. What I did appreciate as a fan of high school wrestling is how Copes (138) last year state champ bumped up to 144 to test himself against four time state champ Radecki. Hats off to both warriors for making this match take place. Unfortunately you don’t see many state champ bs state champ matches take place but when we do us as the fans are the biggest winners. Could this new addition to Delaware wrestling drop to 144 to start off his Delaware career as the one to try to test Radecki or would he go up to 157 to challenge Elliot the clear favorite that really has gone untested besides attending the Beast. What about Walker? Does he stay where he’s at or go up or down? I guess the question is at 144 and 157 is there anyone that can test either one of these clear favorites to win. Radecki has already been battle tested by another state champ. I’d love to see an Elliot vs Jewell or Elliot or Ebaugh or Elliot or Walker. I’m sure other fans would love to see one of those matches take place as well. Enough said about 144 and 157.
In my opinion 126 is absolutely ridiculously stacked it’s anyone’s title to win it could go any of five or six ways plus rumor up north is Bellerin is dropping to 126 to throw his hat into the mix. I can’t even pick a winner at 126 it’s going to be whoever shows up that day because the level of talent is DEEP!!!
Tell me whatcha think what’s the weakest and strongest weight classes and what matchups would you like to see?

So this got me thinking. You can determine it with a point system based off of the current Delaware Live rankings and last years state placement. I did 1-6 point system based off top 6 placements from last season with 1st receiving 6 points and 6th receiving 1 point with all in between. Results are ….

#1 - 120 with 24 points
#2 - 165 with 20 points
#T3 - 126 with 18 points
#T3 - 132 with 18 points
#5 - 190 with 17 points
#6 - 144 with 15 points
#7 - 215 with 14 points
#T8 - 138 with 13 points
#T8 - 150 with 13 points
#10 - 175 with 11 points
#11 - 106 with 10 points
#T12 - 157 with 8 points
#T12 - 285 with 8 points
#14 - 113 with 0 points

You make a excellent point

I really like the points analysis, but the first observation is true as well. 144 and 157 don't look deep because you can't see anyone even coming close to the favorites.

I can agree with you but as stated Radecki has been battle tested with T Copes (a former high school state champ and ranked #1 at 138) who bumped up to take on Radecki. With that being said me as a fan would love to see Jewell have a go at Radecki or go up to 157. So my question is Elliot going to challenge himself or will someone (a former state champ) step up or down to challenge him? Rumor up north is there’s some complaints about not being challenged by some down state wrestlers so why not challenge yourself. Nobody in the state of Delaware is “that good” except maybe Stratton because he’s the only Delaware wrestler to place at the beast in which many Delaware boys went 0-2 or 1-2 when challenged.

I believe the Delcastle invitational as well as the regular season duals will be the best chances for these big time match ups to happen. However seeing as a fair amount of teams either don’t dual each other, or have close duals that matter when it comes to team state seeding. These situations lead to a lot of missed opportunities since the team often comes first instead of glory hunting. We get lucky when we have a situation like CR vs Caravel.
