8 Howard

9 Tower Hill

10 Saint Mark's

Woodbridge and Delmar don't meet until Week 10 this year, but you figure Bridgeville will be rocking on November 9... Woodbridge figures to bounce right back to the top of the table, with a veteran group including QB Troy Haynes, WR/DB Gave Verscott, RB Jamon Kane, and LB Brock Keeler, plus they broke in a youthful line last year, while Delmar did lose Brooks Parker, all three QBs they used last year, including Dante Trader, they weren't exactly senior-laden in their title run in 2017, and many of their key players are juniors this year... A.I. duPont returns Chad Jones at QB, and a slew of receivers that can put up points in a hurry... After those 3, you can throw a blanket over about 10 teams who will be fighting schedules to try to earn enough points to get into the tournament... Caravel was probably strong enough to be a semifinalist in 2017, but didn't even qualify... Glasgow, Brandywine, Conrad, Saint Elizabeth, and Archmere are all teams who could go from preseason unranked into the playoffs, Division 2 football is traditionally among the toughest to predict of the Fall Sports.

GAME TO WATCH: Laurel at Brandywine (Noon, Saturday) - There's no battle of ranked Division 2 teams to pick from, so let's settle on a match-up of teams who figure to be contending for 3rd or 4th in their respecting conferences, who could use a win here to try to vault themselves into a shot at a winning season, or perhaps much more... Also keep an eye on Archmere (Dover), Delmar (Cape), DMA (Wilmington Charter), A.I. duPont (Polytech), St. Mark's (Newark), and Milford (Sussex Tech). Division 1 victories can go a long way to getting a Division 2 team into the tournament (6 points for a D1 win vs. 4 for a D2)

While Woodbridge is definitely the team to beat in D2, the loss of the Phillips kid for Delmar will be huge. He was a nasty MLB that brought a different type of intensity and confidence to the football field every play. They still have Dennard though and he is electric. Also, Laurel is overrated. They haven't done anything in years, but every season they get the off season hype. They lost at least 2 of their best players and that is coming off of a 4-6 season. Sorry, just not a believer.

That one is not on swag. He copy pasted that article from WDEL website

Out of the 10 Sean has listed here (and I happen to think he does a great job with these rankings), I see maybe 6 of the 10 going to the playoffs. Conrad is playing basically a road schedule this year, but there's no reason they shouldn't be at least 8-2 (even though I had them at 6-4 in my D2 schedule thread).

Howard has to split with St. G/Hodgson to have a shot at an at-large and Tower's gotta pretty much beat everyone but Friends and with RR's intel about Harford Tech coming through, I don't see that happening.

bbmvp... I don't think the article is far off about Laurel. It said they could be battling for 3rd or 4th in the division which isn't far off and a win against Brandywine could very much help their case for making the playoffs. All wins the same as last season and beat Brandywine a down Milford and Poly. They could be playing Lake Forest week 9 for probably the 3rd spot in the division and maybe a 5 or 6 seed in the playoffs. Not that far fetched. Who in the South got much better this year to say otherwise? The beauty of D2 baby!!!!

I have to say, after watching Milford, scrimmage I think they should just not even show up. They have no defense, they have no offense and I have to question their coaching. Sure it's easy to win with David Bowman but now that he is gone, I don't think the Bucs have what it takes to compete in the Henny South.

I understand your reasoning, but I just don't see a 6-4 D2 schedule making the playoffs. People forget, Delmar was 9-1 last year, but had they lost that final game to Woodbridge, they would not have made it. The system is what it is, but they would need a lot of help. Fighting for 3rd or 4th could be possible, because IR and Seaford will struggle, so it will come down to Laurel, Milford and Lake.

Depends on bonus points and D1 victories. 2 D1 wins equals 3 D2 victories, so that could help someone. Not sure how many D2 teams have D1 teams on their schedule. I believe Woodbridge, Delmar and Milford have at least 1.

AI has two - Polytech and Charter, which is the easiest 12 points anyone will get this year. Howard has St. Georges and Hodgson and Woodbridge/Delmar/Milford has their 1 each. Could be more depending on what the enrollment numbers are for the MD schools WB/Delmar are playing. 7-3 for that group of schools might do it. The Conrads and Tower Hills of the world, not so much.

Everyone in the Diamond state conference has at least 1 because of Charter. I know DMA plays Hodgson, so they have 2
