This week showed how much of a separation there is between the best/good teams and the average/mediocre/bad teams in Delaware High School Football
Middletown and Dover both handled their business against inferior opponents, winning by a combined total of 90-0. Delmar showed they won't give up the D2 title without a fight, blanking an improved St. E team 48-0. Hodgson, DMA, St. Mark's and Howard had dominant wins as well.
Friends is 3-0. Hasn't been against ideal opponents until this week, but going down to Woodbridge and winning WITH A PASSING GAME shows that we can't dismiss the Quakers in the title picture.
AI also belongs in the conversation, putting up 40 each week and winning by sizeable margins against beatable teams. AI/Howard at Baynard on 10/20 will be game of the year material regardless of division.
Know who else is 3-0? The Baby Bulldogs! Okay, so it was against Red Lion, Seaford and Conrad, but after a rushed first varsity season of 0-9, FSMA is growing up. They have a bye this week and a winnable game against St. Andrews October 5. Gotta keep our eyes on them until they give us a reason not to (most likely DMA Halloween weekend)
The Gate's Swinging Picks Record this week: 18-3
2018 Overall: 54-13
Best pick this week: FSMA over Conrad
Worst pick this week: Glasgow over Brandywine (the Dragons are fried already)
