Sunny days...everybody loves them...

Middletown, Hodgson, Sallies, Delmar and Woodbridge were the big winners with convincing wins against mostly level comp (Sallies washing Concord wasn't much of a surprise).

Congrats to the FSMA Bulldogs for their first win as a varsity program. Having a home field on campus later in the season could help them pick up another one.

Howard's defense great or St. Georges offense bad? Either way, HUGE six points for the Northern Wildcats. Still have tough games against Hodgson, St. Mark's and A.I. in the next five weeks.

St. Mark's and St. E's opening wins make the coaching shuffle look good so far. Friends struggling against Lake, Tatnall playing horribly against McKean (MCKEAN!) and Tower getting blanked by Harford (to be complete Tuesday) looks bad for a Silk Panty playoff drive this year.

Can Laurel steal one of the final three D2 spots? A 30-point win over Brandywine helps with confidence.

Penn hanging tough with MerVo even with the extracurriculars after the game should give them hope for a good season.

Dover looked GOOD against Archmere. We'll know more when they face Henny North competition.

My record this week (will be edited with the AI/Poly and Tower/Harford completions): 14-6

Best pick: Dover over Archmere
Worst pick: Seaford over Middle Township

If Florence has her way, we will have to wait on week 2, more heavy rain is coming.

CCR said it best.

"Who'll Stop The Rain"

Long as I remember,
The rain been comin' down.
Clouds of myst'ry pourin'
Confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages
Tryin' to find the sun.
And I wonder,
Still I wonder
Who'll stop the rain.

I went down Virginia,
Seekin' shelter from the storm.
Caught up in the fable,
I watched the tower grow.
Five-year plans and new deals
Wrapped in golden chains.
And I wonder,
Still I wonder
Who'll stop the rain.

Heard the singers playin',
How we cheered for more?
The crowd had rushed together
Tryin' to keep warm.
Still the rain kept pourin',
Fallin' on my ears.
And I wonder,
Still I wonder
Who'll stop the rain.

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know it's been comin' for some time
When it's over so they say
It'll rain a sunny day
I know shinin' down like water
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?

I think I was in the beginning of my SO year of college when that was released.
Great to have grown up with the music in the 50's-70's.
People who think we live in contentious times should have been around for 1968. It appeared the world was coming apart.
I believe Otis Williams of the original Temptations is still alive.
Googling that song now has me listening to Temptation songs. Great stuff.

Rain aside, do we have confidence that DIAA has a contingency plan in place in case Florence does shut things down?

Since the tourney is seeded based on point index, I don’t think a washed out weekend would be a huge deal. If teams can schedule a makeup, great. If not, no big deal.

Problem with that is Smyrna/Friends/Tower each only have 9 games already...unless DIAA makes an exception for 8, that could be an issue.

If anyone cares, AI is beating Polytech down 42-7.

49-7 AI in the 2nd quarter. Either Polytech is terrible or we're gonna have to add AI to the D2 championship contenders' short list.

Saw Poly Scrimmage, they don't look too good.
They are in rebuild mode, really only returning player is QB. watch out for them in 2-3 years again!

Eligible Teams: 1. All teams must meet the criteria established by DIAA Regulation 1006.2.4 to be eligible for Tournament consideration. 2. A team must play a minimum of eight (8) games at the varsity level in order to be considered for the tournament. Forfeits will count toward satisfying this requirement. Only those opponents who have played a minimum of an eight game varsity schedule will be included in a team’s record. Forfeits will count toward satisfying this requirement

Well that solves that problem. Looks like the storm isn't going do too much damage now, but at least if it reverses course, missing a week won't kill teams.
