Dover finished their season 3-3, but still managed to win the Henlopen North title. Dover was 4-2 against playoff teams this year beating Smyrna 13-1 and Poly 7-3 early in the season as well as Delmar 4-2, Milford 11-7. Dover is appearing in its 26th baseball tourney in the 48 year history of the tourney. Dover has been to 11 Semi final games, but only has 1 championship, back in 1972. Dover has a 22-24 record in the post season. Dover is scoring over 7 runs per game on average and allowing 4 runs per game to its opponents. Dover was led by Velazquez who is 6-0, through nine games, but hasn’t pitched since then and its my understanding he is out.
DMA started the season 7-3, but is just 2-6 since then. They finished the season with two straight losses to Archmere and Wilmington Christian and nearly missed the playoffs. DMA was 2-8 against playoff teams this year beating Newark Charter (8-7) and Tower Hill (4-3). DMA has been to the tourney 4 of the last 5 years, but losing all 4 times (3 to downstate teams). DMA is scoring just under 5 runs per game on average despite being one of the top homerun hitting teams in the state. They are allowing under 4 runs per game this year. Michael Serafin has led the state in HR’s all year finishing with 6.
