Delmar has enjoyed its 11th straight winning season. They had another a great season in 2017 but did lose the final two games of the season, including the conference championship matchup with Milford last week. Delmar was 4-2 against Playoff teams including wins over Smyrna (5-0), Tech (13-6), Cape (4-2) and just recently Polytech (5-4). Delmar has made it to 10 post season tourney, but is just 1-10 in post season games and haven’t been to the post season since 2014. In 2017, Delmar scored 140 runs this season, almost 8 runs per game and allowed less than 3 runs per game. On the mound Delmar is lead by Jimmy Adkins, who was 5-2 on the regular season.

Polytech finished the season 3-3 with wins over Tech (6-0), Glasgow (8-2) and CR (10-0) and losses to Central (5-6), Delmar (5-4) and Milford 9-8. Poly was 4-4 against playoff team this year with wins over Archmere, Cape, Smyrna and Tech. Poly has participated in 6 post seasons, but their playoff record is 1-6 with their only win in 2009. Poly is scoring over 7 runs per game on average but allowing less than 3 runs per game. Poly is led by Joey Haas who is 7-1 on the mound. At the plate Poly is led by Cole Garey who has 5 dingers and Haas who has 2 including a grand slam.

Delmar and Poly have never met in the post season. They did play each other at Poly on May 16, 2017. It was Haas versus Adkins on the mound. Delmar jumped to a 2 to zip lead in the first, but Poly responded with 1 in the bottom of the inning, then another 2 in the bottom of the second to go up 3-2. In the top of the third, Poly scored one to tie it up. In the bottom of the fourth Poly would go up again 4-3. Delmar responded with 2 runs to go up 5-4, which was the final. Adkins got the win and went 2-4 that game.
