Newark and McKean played each other in the last game of the season at Midway Complex and started of the 2017 season playing each other again as the Jackets won 22-1. Adrienna Berry pitched a complete game 2 hitter for the Yellowjackets and hat two hits and drove in four runs. Freshmen Charlotte Rose started the game off with her first Varsity hit and scored four times in the game. First year Yellowjacket Sophomore Emily Barks opened up the game in the third inning with a two run RBI double and drove in three runs for the game. Shannon Smith, Kailee Beam, and Megan Hunter each had two hits for Newark.

McKean’s Savanna Macintosh-Clough turned in some great defensive plays at third for the Highlanders. Valerie Clark had a double and scored the first run for McKean. Mackenzie Szymanski drove in Clark for the Highlander run.





The lady knights and lady Ravens battled in a highly competitive softball game. The Ravens picked up 3 runs by taking advantage of a couple of errors in the 4th inning followed by a timely hit from Shannon Lord as they defeated the Lady Knights 7-4. Both pitchers settled in and pitched shutout ball the last several innings.



Emily Coyle led the Spartans going 2-4 with 4 RBIs. Janelle Hessler was 4-5 on the day and had all but the home run for the cycle. Cassie Rath earned her first win as a Spartan as they defeated the Lady Vikings of St. Elizabeth 8-7.

Julia Casson went 5-5 with 2 runs scored for St. Elizabeth. Caitlyn May had a 3 run HR.



Camryn Thompson threw a complete game 18-0 shut out win over Seaford, giving up two hits and three walks while striking out 6. Offensively, the Royals were led by Ashlyn Stonebraker (2-3, 2 doubles, 3 RBI & 4 runs scored) and Thompson (3-4, double, 5 RBI). Siera Jones, Bec Hastings and Camryn Breasure also contributed 2 hits each.



Rajene Bowe went 3 for 4 for Milford and sister Nia Bowe went 2 for 4 for MIlford as they defeated the Lady Riders of Caesar Rodney 9-2. Carissa Thorne went 2 for 4 for CR, Courtney Malin went 3 for 4 for CR, Sophia Badell went 2 for 3 for CR.

:Gabby Lano went 2-2 and scored a run for Red Lion and Annie Penrod went 1-3 and scored Archmere’s only run. Both Kayla Murray and Caroline Paolantonio only gave up 3 hits each as the Lions defeated the Lady Auks 3-1.



Smyrna Lady Eagles Varsity Softball Varsity scored three runs in the fifth inning as they defeated the Indians of Indian River 10-5. Smyrna Lady Eagles Varsity Softball Varsity’s big inning was driven by a double by Sara Miller and a single by Olivia Faragher.

Olyvia Smith earned the win for Smyrna Lady Eagles Varsity Softball Varsity. She threw seven innings, allowing five runs, seven hits, and striking out four. Patille took the loss for Indian River. She pitched three innings, allowing five runs, six hits, and striking out two.

Smyrna Lady Eagles Varsity Softball Varsity collected 15 hits. Lexi Moore, Miller, Smith, Madison Drummond, and Faragher each collected multiple hits for Smyrna Lady Eagles Varsity Softball Varsity. Faragher had the most chances in the field with six.

Snyder went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Indian River in hits



Mackenzie Short pitched a one hitter striking out 8 Silver Eagles to earn the 10-0 win. Offensively the Jaguars were lead by Mallory Weir and Haley Jones. Who both went 4 for 4. Among Weir’s four hits were a double and a triple. While Jones belted 2 doubles and had 3 RBI’s. Appoquinimink also had multiple hit days from Andrea Johnson and Taylor Coleman. Morgan Hertigae had an infield single for Hodgson.



Delmar’s Lexi Harris went 3-3 with 4 Rbi’s. Paige Lynch also had a 3 hit ball game. Avery Wheatley, Jordan Moore, Madison Lemon, and Sydney Tyndall each had 2 hits a piece. Starting pitcher Tracey Pleasanton pitched 3 innings striking out 8 batters and allowing 1 hit. Alyssa Weldon came in for 2 innings of relief as they defeated Arcadia of VA 21-1.



Freshman Sheridan Long hurled a 3 hitter with 0 earned runs in her high school debut as the Lady Hawks of St. Georges defeated the Lady Redskins of Conrad 18-3 . Senior Krissy Hawke went 4 for 4 at the plate for St. Georges and Junior Rachel DiMarcello went 3 for 5 with 3 triples and 6 RBI’s. Conrad’s catcher I. Troise went 2 for 3 with a single and a double.

Softball 3-24-17

In her home opener, Sam Rios kept the Ram’s to one run. Delcastle seniors Danielle Adams and Megan Hynson each had two RBIs apiece as they defeated the Lady Rams of Dickinson 12-1.

Ram’s shortstop Sarah Gotthold had an excellent double play for Dickinson.



Caitlin Baxter was 4-4 to lead the Pandas offense as they defeated the Tigers of AI DuPont by a 17-0 score. Hannah Williams, Abby Cunningham, Zoey Jones, Katie Twardowski, Alex Musial, and Amelia Giordano all had mutiple hits for Padua. Abby Cunningham threw three perfect innings and Lynsie Grant gave up one hit for Padua.



The Lady Bucs improved to 2-0 to start the 2017 Season as they defeated the Lady Vikings of Christiana by a 16-0 score. Morgan Abbott pitched 5 strong innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit. Megan Fry had 7 RBI’s going 2 for 2 with a double and a Grand Slam. Darby Brennan was 2 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Rejene Bowe and CJ Kohel were 2 for 4 and Kalaysia Reynolds was 2 for 3. CJ Kohel also had 3 RBI’s for Milford.Hailey Henshaw was 1 for 1 with a stolen Base for Christiana.



Antonia Browning carried a no-hitter into the 6th before Isabelle Troise’s triple ended the bid. Browning finished the 1 hitter with 13 strikeouts. Taylor Gillis finished a double short of the cycle as Charter picked up it’s first win of the season in a 9-0 victory over the Lady Redskins of Conrad.



:(Delmar) Jordan Moore went 3-3 with 3 Rbi’s. Avery Wheatley contributed with 2 hits. Starting pitcher Tracey Pleasanton threw a complete game earning the win to pace the Lady Wildcats of Delmar by a 10-4 score. (Smyrna) Kaelyn Press went 3-4 for the Eagles.



Sophmore Jordyn DiFava hit her first career home run to begin an 8 run 2nd inning for Delmarva Christian as they defeated the Lady Dragons of Glasgow 17-2. DiFava, Allie Zitvogel, Ashlyn Stonebraker, Camryn Thompson, Camry Breasure and Louisa Re each had two hits for the Royals. Thompson and Jayla Culver combined to give up 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 9.



J. Hessler led St. Mark’s going 3-5 with 3 RBIs and a 3B, C. Rath went 1-2 with 2 RBIs and a 2B, G. Frati was 1-2 with 3 runs scored, and A. Miko went 2-3 on the day. J Hessler had the walk-off base hit in the 7th to give the Spartans the 9-8 win.

I Purnell went 2-4 with a 2B, A Foster went 2-4 with an RBI, and M Whalley went 2-3 with 2 RBIs for the Colonials.



Newark Charter and Appoquinimink were in a 2-2 tie in the top of the 7th when Andrea Johnson hit a RBI double to give Appoquinimink the lead and won by a 6-2 score. Two batters latter Morgan Widdoes pitch hit single drove home Johnson to give the Jaguars a 2 run lead. Mallory Weir added a 2 run triple later in the inning to put the game out of reach. Johnson tied the game in the 3rd with a solo homerun finishing the day 2 for 3. Weir singled to go along with her triple and Talyer Vitola also added 2 hits for the Jaguars. Mackenzie Short earned the win for APPO while striking out 8 Patriot batters. Newark Charters Peyton Vivian went 3 for 3 driving in both Patriot runs and hitting a solo homerun to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth.

Amelia Giordano had a bases loaded hit to drive in three runs for Padua as they defeated Hodgson 13-1. The Pandas then exploded for 7 runs in the 4th. Padua got mutiple hits from Catie Baxter, Abby Cunningham, Katie Twardowski, Alex Musial, and Giordano. Zoey Jones reached base three times along with Musial and Baxter. Morgan Heritage was powerful on the mound and played outstanding defense.

Abby Cunningham won her 3rd game of the year for Padua with 13 strike outs and no earned runs and defeated the Lady Colonials of William Penn by a 4-1 score. Hannah Williams had 3 hits on the day and Katie Twardowski reached base 3 times. Wm Penn had three great outfield catches to end scoring threats late in the game.




Softball 3-28-17



Lake defeated Polytech 16-6 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at four with Lake batting in the bottom of the fifth when Mya Maddox tripled off of Kaite Burawski, driving in three runs. Maddox went 4-4 with 3 RBIs. Polytech took an early lead in the first inning. Kelsie Burawski drove in one when she singled in the first inning. Lake had 16 hits in the game. Maddox, Brittany Baker, Brooke Glanden, Stahre, and Simpson each collected multiple hits. Polytech collected eight hits. Hayley DiCarlantonio, Burawski, and Burawski each collected multiple hits.



Delmarva Christian broke the game open scoring 6 runs in the 3rd inning and defeated St. Peter and Paul 18-0 The inning started with a single by Allie Zitvogel. Bec Hastings followed with a bunt single and scored on a 3 base throwing error. Jordyn DiFava, Ashlyn Stonebraker and Siera Jones hit back to back to back doubles, and Camryn Thomspon followed with a triple. Offensively the Royals were led by Stonebraker (Double, 2 Triples, 4 RBI) Difava (4-4, 2 Doubles, 2 RBI), Jones (3-3, Double, RBI, 2 runs scored) and Hastings (3-3, Double, RBI, 3 runs scored). Thompson and Jayla Culver combined on a 2 hit shutout, while striking out 9.



Shannon Lord was 3 for 3 with a triple and 3 rbi’s; Madison Watson had 2 hits a homerun and 3 rbi’s; Jena Tate had a double and scored 3 runs; Brooke Ward had 2 hits; Jaykayla Sample doubled and had 2 rbi’s; Megan Perdue scored 3 runs and Taylor Wroten struckout 11 for ST as they won 11-0.



(Delmar) Avery Wheatley led the way with 3 hits for the Cats. Lexi Harris contributed with 2 hits. Haley Rogers knotted up the game in the bottom of the 5th with a solo Home run. In the 10th inning Tracey Pleasanton hit a base hit to right field that scored the winning run from 3rd as Delmar won 5-4. Tracey Pleasanton pitched all 10 innings of the game, and earned the win. (SC) Taylor Evick and Natalie Oldham both contributed 3 hits a piece for the Knights. Hayley McCabe also pitched 10 innings striking out 5 batters.





3-30-17 Softball



Alexis Heritage and Brooklynne Johnson collected 3 hits apiece for Hodgson. Morgan Heritage struck out 13 to earn her first win of the season to pace the Lady Silver Eagles of Hodgson to a 18-1 win.



DMA won an exciting game in the bottom of the ninth, scoring 3 runs with a walkoff hit by Ali Novotny as they defeated the Lady Hawks of St Georges by a 10-9 score.





Mackenzie Short earned her third win of the season in the circle. Appoquinimink built a 12 to 3 lead going into the 7th and hung on to win 12 to 7. Mallory Weir lead the Jaguars going 4 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Andrea Johnson went 2 for 3 with a triple from the leadoff postion and Taylor Vitola and Haley Jones also had mulitple hit days for Appoquinimink. Smyrna was lead by Kaeyln Press who went 2 for 4 with a double and homerun.



Emily Yeatman pitched a two-hitter and went 3 for 3 at the plate for Conrad as they defeated the Lady Cougars of Delcastle 9-2. Skyler Poore was 2 for 2, Sarah Bessel was 3 for 3, and Maddi Tiberi was 2 for 3 for Conrad. Delcastle’s Enjolie Torres and Autumn Chalmers each had one hit.


Jakayla Sample hit two homeruns and had 5 rbi’s to pace Sussex Tech to a 19-2 win over the Lady Blue Raiders of Woodbridge, Corrin Farris had three hits and a triple, Kelsey Kormanik, Tyalor Wroten, Kayla Booros, and Jenna Calloway each had two hit and Kyler Marvel had three rbi’s for Sussex Tech
Beverly VanBusKirk had a hit an rbi for Woodbridge.





(Delmar) Avery Wheatley lead the Wildcats with 4 hits as they defeated Mardela 15-5. Jordan Moore, Haley Rogers, Madison Lemon, and Sydney Tyndall each contributed with multiple hits. (Mardela) Megan Caputo lead the Warriors with 2 hits and 2 Rbi’s.




STMA scored15 on 13 hits and Kara Scarangella accounted for most of the defense tossing 11 K’s but the lack of experience in the field killed the effort as 15 recorded errors by the Raven is still probably generous. Dickinson went into the home half of the 7th trailing by 9 and the the dominos just kept tumbling…. Kylee Golon (9th grader) pitched a complete game for the LadyRams. Putting the ball in play, and some key extra base hits helped the Lady Rams today. Congrats LadyRams and Coach Dick for hanging tough. Dickinson defeated St. Thomas More 16-15
The Ravens and LadyRams will square off once more in May in Magnolia…should be a good one!



Julia Carson picked up the victory with 9 strikeouts giving up only two hits to pace the Lady Vikings of St. Elizabeth 12-1. Claudia Roncone had 3 hits and 3 RBI’s to lead the Vikings



Melissa Jones hit a grand slam that put Middletown up 7-0 in the first inning and won 18-5. She hit a second homerun in the fifth inning and ended the day with 8 RBI’s.


Highlights: Leadoff batter Tionne Hensen led Mt Pleasant to a 7-4 win over the Lady Tigers of AI DuPont going 3-4 with a triple and 2 singles. Nicole Tomassi got the win in the circle striking out 8 batters.
AI Dupont racked up 12 hits. Jessie Oldham went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. Tyler Eddy, Jamie Hawrylak, and Lenaja Ware each had 2 hits.





3-29-17 Softball
Antonia Browning was was 4 for 4 and scored 3 runs and Katie Massih was 3 for 3 to lead Charter to a 15-2 win in this Flight A matchup. Payton Czerwinski gave up 2 hits to earn her first win of the season. Danielle Adams has a double and scored a run for Delcastle.


Highlights: For Archmere, Kayla Murray allowed 5 hits and struck out 5 batters to earn her 1st win of the season. Murray also had a big day at the plate going 4 for 4 with a double. Multiple Auks had big days at the plate as Annie Penrod had 3 hits while Mackenzie Popp, Jocelyn Phillips, and Madyson McDougal each drove in 3 runs. Phillips capped off the scoring with her first home run of the season.

For St. Elizabeth’s, Julia Casson struck out 5 batters. Alexa Cruz singled and scored and Madison Merril had a double.



Newark Charter was led by a balanced scoring effort with 7 different players registering hits and 5 players adding RBIs as they defeated the Lady Pandas of Padua 6-0. Kacie Noonan was 2-3 with 2 RBI and a double for the Patriots while Peyton Vivian was 1-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Caitlin Potank earned the shutout for NCS. Abby Cunningham was 2-3 with Kathryn Twardowski adding a double for Padua.

Taylor Evick led Sussex Central with a double and 2 RBI's. Kailee Abbott hit a triple and courtesy runner Saige Bullock scored three runs for Hayley McCabe paced the Lady Golden Knights of Sussex Central to a 9-6 win over the Lady Vikings of Cape Henlopen.
Jordyn Virden (3 run) and Hannah Jones (2 run) each hit home runs in the bottom of the 7th.


Jessica Anderson allowed no hits in 2 innings, while Olyvia Smith finished the game allowing only 2 hits as the Lady Eagles of Smyrna defeated the Lady Senators of Dover 18-0. Laiken Zay had 3 RBIs, while Olivia Faragher and Kayla Wilson added 2 RBIs. Faragher and Kaelyn Press went 3 for 4 at the plate and scored 3 runs each.


Jessica Behornar was 2 for 3 with a Grand Slam homerun, and Izzy Testa scored 5 runs. Indira Purnell and Ashley Gallagher combined for nine strikouts to pace the Lady Colonials of William Penn to a 25-2 win over the Lady Yellowjackets of Newark.
Emily Barks had a double for Newark.


Nia Bowe was 3 for 3 with 4 RBI's hitting a triple and a Home Run. Megan Fry was 2 for 3 with a double and a triple. Rejene Bowe was 2 for 4 with a triple. The Lady Bucs had 6 batters with multiple hits as they defeated the Lady Bulldogs of Laurel 14-2. Lillian Hitchens had a two RBI double for Laurel.


Newark Charter seniors Lilly Wingo, Jude McGough and Sierra Anderson each registered two hits with Wingo adding 2 RBI. Peyton Vivian and Abby McCann also added two hits for the Patriots with McCann scoring two runs and defeated the Lady Auks of Archmere 7-0. Caitlin Pontak earned her second shutout of the season while striking out 12. Kayla Murray was 2-3 for Archmere and Maggie Brown added a single.


Delmarva Christian's offense came to life in the second inning, scoring 11 runs on 9 hits, 2 walks and a hit batter as they defeated the Lady Vikings of Christiana 23-6. Malaurie Noble and Jordyn DiFava each had a single, double and 3 RBI. Allie Zitvogel and Siera Jones had 3 hits each. Morgan Waide, Bec Hastings and Louisa Re had 2 hits each. Camryn Thompson and Jayla Culver combined to give up 5 earned runs on 7 hits while striking out 8.

For Christiana, Hailey Henshaw was 2-3 with a triple and Yesenia Zamorez was 2-3 with a double.

Softball 4-5-17



Lilly Cera-Proulx pitched a 5-inning perfect game to lead the Lady Cavaliers to their second win of the season as they defeated the Lady Yellowjackets of Newark by an 18-0 score. MHS was led offensively by Melissa Jones, who hit her 3rd home run on the season, as well as Carly Setting who went 4-for-4 with a 3rd inning grand slam. Aubrey Smith was a workhorse behind the plate for Newark, making incredible blocks to stop runners from advancing. Adrienne Berry had a nice line-drive shot that was robbed by Middletown’s Maddie Caldwell.

Emily Proffit hit a Grand Slam Home run and Elizabeth Smith hit a home run and double and Grace Walker went 3 for 5 at the plate with a double to pace the Lady Bucs of Caravel to a 10-8 win over Padua and contributed with 2 RBI’s and 2 runs scored for Caravel Academy. Abby Cunningham went 3 for 5 with 2 singles and 2 runs scored for Padua.



Katie Watson knocked in 3 runs, Katie Massih was 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored and Cierra Tweed had a 2 run double for CSW as they defeated AI 15-2. Jamie Hawrylak and Bridget Hallett singled for AI.

Softball 4-7-17
Mackenzie Short won her 4th game of the year as her record improves to 4-1 on the season and striking out 10 over 4 innings. Offensively the Jaguars were lead by Autumn Gentry who doubled while going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Mallory Weir added 2 hits including a double and 3 RBI’s. Brooke Miller, and Andrea Johnson both had multiple hit days with a double and 2 RBI’ each. Hannah Sargent-Yeager singled and drove home a run for Delcastle.



Dickinson hitters broke the game open in the 4th inning scoring 11 runs on 9 hits as they defeated the Highlanders of McKean 21-9. Kylee Golon got her 2nd win of the season, striking out 8 batters. Sarah Gotthold (3-5, 3RS, 5 RBI), Lydia Todd (4-4, 3RS, 4 RBI), along with Megan Carroll (4 RBI), Ta’Shai Haman, and Katelyn Mullins all with 2 hits each.
For McKean, Nellie Graham (P) struck out 8 Lady Rams batters, and was 1-3, 3RBI’s; Mackenzie Szymanski was 2-3, 2RS, 2B. Savannah Macintosh pitched a clean 5th inning striking out 3 of 5 batters she faced.
The Lady Rams and Lady Highlanders match up again next week on Tuesday at Dickinson.



The Auks got out to an early 6-0 lead and won 10-7 over the Lady Spartans of St. Marks. Annie Penrod lead the way with 2 triples and finished the game going 3 for 3 with a walk and 4 RBI’s. Maddie Wallace also went 3 for 3 and added 2 runs scored. Kayla Murray and Meg Bohannon also had multi-hit days for the Auks.

St Marks battled back in the middle of the game, lead by Paige Thomas with a solo home run and a double. Naomi Azcona also had multiple hits.



Concord’s offense was led by Sarah Raab winning pitcher at 2-1 who went 3 for 4 with a triple and scored a run and Kaitlyn Carter who went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s and scored a run. Mary Plasmier had a 2 run single in the 6th to put Concord ahead and scored 2 runs as they defeated the Lady Cavaliers of Middletown by an 8-5 score. Middletown’s offense was strong on the day collecting two hits a piece by Setting, Caldwell, Clemons, and Cooke.



The Lady Knights were paced by the pitching of Hayley McCabe who posted 13 strikeouts in the 11-6 win over Conrad. Run support was provided by a team effort. Conrad was lead by the hitting of Sarah Bessel and Isabelle Troise with 3 hits each.



Brianna Stevenson’s double in the bottom of the sixth inning put the Panthers up by a 7-6 score over the Lady Bucs of Caravel. Hayley DiCarlantonio and Kaite Burawski also added doubles for Polytech. Kelsie Burawski also had a multiple hit game. Kaite Burawski had 6 strikeouts for Polytech. Nicole Marcon had a mutliple hit game with a triple and Emily Proffitt also had multiple hits for Caravel. Kody Dillon had 8 strikeouts for Caravel.


Softball 4-8-17



Padua was lead by Catie Baxter’s 3 hits and 2 hits from Katie Twardowski and Zoey Jones. Jones and Abby Cunningham each had 2 RBI’s as well as they defeated the Lady Force of Charter 6-2. Charter was lead by Peyton Czerwinski and Ciera Tweed who each had 3 hits.



Haley Levinsky and Kayla Murray combined for a 3 hitter with no earned runs to get the 17-1 win. Murray also lead the offense with 2 doubles and 5 RBI’s. Maddie Wallace, Mackenzie Popp, and Meg Bohannon each drove in multiple runs for the Auks.

For Delcastle, Hannah Sargent-Yeager and Nadia Kulikowski reached base in all 3 at bats



Hodgson’s Carina Nepi went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored. Morgan Heritage struck out 13 to earn her second win of the season as the Lady Silver Eagles defeated the Lady Green Knights of Mt. Pleasant 4-3. Jalia Lawrence went 2 for 4 with a homerun for Mount Pleasant.

While Nia and Rajene Bowe are related. They are cousins, not sisters I believe.
 
Softball 4-10-17



MacKenzie Shorts improved to 5 and 1 with her 17-8 win over William Penn. Short was perfect through 3 striking out 7 before being taken out. She returned to pitch the last 2 and a third innings finishing the day with 12 strikouts. Appoquinimink exploded for 10 runs in the 3rd and 6 more in the 4th to build a 16 to 0 lead. On the day the Jaguars saw multi hit days from Andrea Johnson, Taylor Coleman, Mallory Weir, Haley Jones, Brooke Miller, Autumn Gentry, and Isabella Eleazer. William Penn never quit and showed great heart scoring 8 after failing behind. Antonia Testa lead the way with a multi hit game for the Colonials.

Conrad was led by pitchers Emily Yeatman and Sarah Bessel. Maddi Tiberi and Emily Yeatman were both 3 for 4 at the plate. Skyler Poore, Sarah Bessel, and Mallory Margherita each added 2 hits a piece for Conrad as they defeated Brandywine 14-2. Aleigha Miller and Lexie Paul were both 2 for 3 for Brandywine.



Eden Rose pitched a complete game two hitter. Striking out nine batters and walking five in picking up her first win of the season with a 13-3 win over the Lady Rams of Dickinson. The Yellowjackets were led by Adrienna Berry and Emily Barks each had two doubles and two runs scored. Aubrey Smith, Emily Barks, Eden Rose, Megan Hunter and Savannah Walker each drove in one RBI.

The Rams two hits were by Ta’Shai Haman and Novalee Membrino. Pitcher Lydia Todd made five solid defense plays on the mound for Dickinson. Also, Brnyea Spratley, Sarah Gotthold, Megan Carroll and Allison Hendrickson around the Rams infield each turned in some fine defensive plays.



Jordan Cooke led the Lady Cavs by going 3-3 with a home run and two RBI’s. The Lady Lions broke a 3-3 tie in the 7th by scoring 7 runs and won 10-3. Zoe Wilcox went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.



Delmar started off strong scoring 1 in the first inning. Avery Wheatley led the wildcats going 2-2 with one walk and scoring both of Delmar’s runs. Jordan Moore and Hannah Davis also had 1 hit each for the Wildcats as they defeated the Lady Indians of Indian River 12-2. The Indian’s came back in the bottom of the first scoring one to tie the game. Nicole Patille went a strong 5 innings giving up 4 hits. Abi O’Shields closed the game for the Indians.


Julia Bomhardt , Sami Mumford , Sami Mayfeild , Braydee Whitman , Marley Evans all had multiple hits for the Indians. Bomhardt and Whitman both had 3 RBI’s each.


Zoey Jones and Abby Cunningham both had 3 hits a piece for Padua as they defeated the Lady Raiders of Concord 7-4. Eryn Bailey had two hits and Shelly Johnson had two RBI’s for Concord.
Kayla Murray threw a 1 hit shutout with 7 strikeouts to earn the win. Murray also had 2 hits for the Auks. Annie Penrod reached base in all 3 at bats and scored 2 runs, while Sophie Friedman, Madyson McDougal, Maggie Brown, and Lauren Simpson each drove in 2 runs.


Softball 4-11-17



Janelle Hessler had a two run triple for St. Marks. Padua got multiple hits from Abby Cunningham, Katie Twardowski, and Amelia Giordano as they defeated the St. Marks Spartans 8-2. Alex Musial scored the go ahead run in the sixth driven in by Hannah Williams.


Another balanced effort by the Patriots offense with 6 players registering hits as they defeated the Lady Seahawks of Delaware Military Academy by a 5-3 score. Jude McGough led NCS going 3-4 and scoring 2 runs. Lilly Wingo was 2-4 with 2 RBI while Kacie Noonan was 2-3 for the Patriots. Caitlin Pontak tallied 10 strikeouts for NCS. Lexy Johnson was 2-3 with a walk for DMA and Ashley Conaty was 1-2 with a walk and a run scored. Sam Freeland scored 2 runs for the Seahawks.



Payton Czerwinski earned her 3rd win of the season and went 3 for 4. Cam Peters was 4 for 4 and Ashely Steiner, Jenna Volker, Casey Meyer and Cierra Tweed each knocked in a run for CSW as they defeated the Lady Auks of Archmere 6-0. Mady McDougal and Catherine Brown both were 2 for 3 for the Auks.





The Lady Rams took the 2nd game of the home-and-home with Rival McKean 19-4. Sarah Gotthold (2-3, 3RS, 2- 2B), Br’nyea Spratley (2-3, 3RS, 2B, 3 RBI’s), and Ta’shai Haman (3-3, 3RS, 3 RBI’s) led the attack for the LadyRams. Lydia Todd pitched the whole game and stuckout 6 Lady Highlanders.
For McKean, Valerie Clark led the offense (2-4, 2RS). Savanna Macintosh added 2 RBI’s, and Mackenzie Szymanski was 2-3, 1RS. Nellie Graham pitched the complete game for the Lady Highlanders.



Morgan Heritage improves her record at 3-2 struck out 10 to earn her 3rd win of the season as the Lady Silver Eagles of Hodgson defeated Lady Vikings of Christiana by a 10-0 score. Carina Nepi and Brooklynne Johnson had multiple hits in the game. Yesenia Zamorez had a hit for Christiana.
Middletown took control with 10 runs and 6 hits in the top of the first as they defeated the Lady Green Knights of Mt. Pleasant 11-0 score. Pitcher Lily Cera-Proulx followed Maddison Caldwell’s three up and three down first inning with 4, one hit scoreless innings for the win. Allison Clemons, Jordon Cooke, Melissa Jones and Priya Patel all had two hits a piece for the Cavaliers, Kelsey Eroh had Mount’s only hit of the day

Offensively, the Lady Royals of Delmarva Christian were led by Jordan DiFava (4-5, 2 doubles, HR, 4 RBI, 4 Runs) and Ashlyn Stonebraker (4-5, 2 doubles, triple, 5 RBI, 4 Runs). The offense got production from a lot of places as 14 different players had hits as they defeated the Lady Ravens of St. Thomas More 24-1. Louisa Re had 3 hits, while Allie Zitvogel, Bec Hastings, Malaurie Noble, Camryn Thompson, Jayla Culver, and Camryn Breasure all had 2 hits each. Thompson and Culver combined to give up 1 unearned run on 4 hits, with 11 strikeouts.


Appoquinimink and Bo Manor played a thrilling 9 inning game won by Bohamia Manor 3-2. Mackenzie Short losing pitcher at 5-2 and the combination of Rachel Jones, and Madison Penta were locked in an extra inning duel. Penta earned the win striking out 15 Jaguars, While in the loss Short struckout 10. Andrea Johnson led off the game with a solo homerun to give Appoquinmink the early lead. The Eagles didnt answer until the six when Tidaback doubled home Horsey to tie the game. The next batter singled but Tidaback was thrown out at the plate by APPO leftfielder Taylor Coleman to ending the inning. The game remained tied until the 9th when Appoquinimink took the lead when Andrea Johnson tripled this time driving in Taylor Vitola who started the inning on second becasue of ITB for the go ahead run. Bo Manor answered in the bottom of the frame taking advatage of the ITB when Lockwood singled scoring Penta. Lockwood scored three batter later when Morgan hit a one out RBI single to give the Eagles the 3 to 2 win.
It was a great defenseive battle between the Vikings and Red Wolves. Conrad’s Sarah Bessel went 2 for 3 with a home run in the bottom of the 6th as they defeated the Lady Vikings of St. Elizabeth 2-1. Abbey Farnan had a triple in the bottom of the 7th and scored on Cassidy Dodds’ walk off hit up the middle. Peyton McGee had the only hit for St. E’s.
Indira Purnell and Sarah Gouge combined for 10 strike outs and gave up one hit to pace the Lady Colonials of William Penn to a 21-1 win over the Lady Dragons of Glasgow. Jess Behornar was 3 for 4 and Leanna Bib was 2 for 3 with 4 runs scored.
Jazzmin Haman had an RBI and Tayana Hollis had a hit for Glasgow.

Softball 4-12-17

The Lady Golden Knights of Sussex Central jumped out to a 7 run first inning with aggressive hitting and put pressure on the Lady Bucs and won by an 8-6 score. Milford clawed their way back in the game but fell just short. Izebella Grebe was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles for the Lady Knights. Megan Fry and Nia Bowe were both 2 for 4 Milford.
Kerrigan Simpson went 4 – 4 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI’s and Brooke Glanden went 2-4 and scored 3 runs for the Spartans. Avery Wheatley and Jordan Moore both went 3-4 as the Lady Wildcats of Delmar won 8-7.



Mikayla Frantz pitched a 1 hitter and was 3 for 3 at the plate for Dover as they defeated the Lady Blue Raiders from Woodbridge by an 18-1 score.


Jessie Oldham picked up her 2nd win of the season as her record goes to 2-3 along with striking out 8 batters and paced the Lady Tigers of AI DuPont to a 14-4 win over the Bulldogs of Brandywine. Jessie Oldham was 3-4 at the plate with a double and 2 singles and Emily Johns was 2-3 with a double and a single. The Bulldogs offense was led by Chelsea Gbemudu who went 2-3 at the plate.

Softball 4-13-17

The Lady Bucs got the bats going early and went on to improve to 4-3 on the year with an 11-1 win over the Panthers of Polytech. Macey Meyers had a 2 run home run, Rejene Bowe was 2 for 2 with a double and Darby Brennan was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles. CJ Kohel had an RBI triple while Mo Abbott pitched a 4 hitter for Milford. Hayley DiCarlantino was 2 for 3 with a double for Polytech.
Felicia Shahan, Brooklynne Johnson, and Carina Nepi had multiple hits in the game for Hodgson and defeated the Lady Rams of Dickinson 14-1 . Emily Jones had a triple for Dickinson.


Madi Turner led NCS going 2-3 with a RBI and 2 runs scored as they defeated the Lady Green Knights of Mt. Pleasant by a 12-3 score. Jude McGough and Kacie Noonan each had 2 hits and 3 RBI. Peyton Vivian scored 2 runs and notched 2 RBI for the Patriots. Senior Sierra Anderson was 1-3 with a triple, 2 walks and 2 runs scored. Mount Pleasant’s Stacia Potts was 2-3 with a RBI and a run scored. Jalia Lawrence and Kelsey Eroh also added hits and each scored a run for the Knights.



Concord’s offense was led by Kaitlyn Carter who went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s, Sarah Raab and Kristin Carter who both had solo home runs Megan McCullin who went 2 for 2, Olivia Christy who had a hit, an RBI, and scored a run, and Makaila Gordy and Eryn Bailey who both had a hit and scored two runs for the Lady Raiders of Concord as they defeated the Lady Tigers of AI DuPont 12-2. Jessica Oldham and Tyler Eddy each had two hits for AI dupont. Sarah Raab pitched three scoreless innings earning her third win of the season.



Seven of William Penn’s players combined for 11 extra base hits along with a 26-6 win over the Lady Cougars of Delcastle. Antonia Testa had 3 doubles, Jess Behornar, and Leanna Bib each ahd 5 hits, and Indira Purnell added two home runs.
Danielle Adams had a great game going 2 for 2 with a home run for Delcastle.



Aidyn Rogers was 4 for 4 and knocked in 2 runs and Julia Frank scored 2 runs to lead CSW past NHS 16-2 in this Flight A matchup. Payton Czerwinski and Sophia Delano combined on a 2 hitter.Eden Rose and Shannon Smith had hits for Newark.



Jessica Anderson and Olyvia Smith teamed up to throw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Kaelyn Press collected four hits in five at bats to lead Smyrna to a 24-0 win over the Lady Blue Jays of Seaford. Press, Sara Miller, Kayla Wilson, Lexi Moore and Olyvia Smith each collected multiple hits for Smyrna. Shianne Johnson led Seaford with 4 putouts.



Caravel Acacemy’s Nikki Marcon hit a 3-run homerun and Emily Proffitt, Amanda Stull, Amanda Ladzinski and Kayla Sobolak each had a double. Taylor Davis and Madison Hoffman went 2 for 4 and Samantha Carbonara went 2 for 3 with an RBI for St. George’s High School.

Salisbury Christian and Delmarva Christian each got great pitching performances in a hard fought 11 inning battle won by the Lady Royals of Delmarva Christian 2-1. Lexi Evelyn went the distance for Salisbury Christian allowing 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 8. Camryn Thompson threw all 11 innings for Delmarva Christian allowing 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 12.
Evelyn broke a scoreless tie in the 4th with a solo home run. The Royals answered back in the bottom of the inning. Ashlyn Stonebraker led off with a single, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on a single by Malaurie Noble. Both teams had chances to win it in extra innings. The Royals finally broke through in the bottom of the 11th. With Jordyn DiFava on 2nd to start the inning, Stonebraker’s bunt single forced an errant throw at first allowing DiFava to score the winning run.



Lexi Johnson, Clare Henry and Kayla Frazer collected 2 hits a peice for DMA with Kayla Frazer driving in 3 runs as the Lady Seahawks won by a 8-0 score over the Lady Red Wolves of Conrad. Sara Bessel had both hits for Conrad.



Appo’s offense was led by Taylor Vitola who went 2-3 with 2 singles. Red Lion’s offense was led by Maddie Beres who had a solo home run, Zoe Wilcox who went 3-4 and Julia Thuer who went 2 for 4. Red Lion’s defense was led by Taylor Beres who pitched a complete game shut out with 6 strike outs and defeated the Lady Jaguars of Appoquinimink by a 4-0 score.


Delaware High School Softball 4-17-17

Jessica Anderson pitched a shutout to beat Wilmington Charter 10-0 on Friday. Anderson allowed just four hits.
Smyrna had 14 hits in the game including three (3) from Lexi Moore, and 2 each from Kayla Wilson, Laiken Zay, Sara Miller, Madison Drummond, and Kaelyn Press. Press and Miller each drove in three runs to lead Smyrna, with Wilson adding two (2) RBIs. Casey Myer had a double for Charter, while Mallory McCormick completed 6 of the 12 outs for Charter

Middletown’s bats were unstoppable in this Tuesday afternoon match up as they defeated the Lady Cougars of Delcastle by an 14-0 score. The Lady Cavaliers had a total of 15 hits on the day. Laurel Bulldogs and Delmar Wildcats both had their opportunities, it was Delmar that eventually prevailed 12-7. The game was tied at four with Delmar batting in the top of the fourth when Jordan Moore singled driving in one run. Laurel Bulldogs did collect seven hits in the high scoring affair. Delmar had 14 hits. Laurel Bulldogs captured the lead in the first inning with two outs Brianna Allen drove in two runs when she doubled. Delmar's Avery Wheatley, Sydney Tyndall, Jordan Moore, and Hannah Davis each collected multiple hits for Delmar. Brianna Allen, Marissa Walls, Rachel
Calloway, Natalie Culver, and Lillie Hitchens
each had hits for Laurel.


Alyssa Ball tripled and scored on an Alexis Howerin single in the fourth for the CR lone run. Hayley McCabe paced the lady Knights by scattering 6 hits and striking out 7 batters. Bella Grebe hit a first inning home run, scored twice and had two hits with a walk for Sussex Central. Kailee Abbott added 3 hits for the Knights in the 6-1 win.



Julia Casson pitched a 1 hit shutout and Claudia Roncone had 2 hits and 2 RBIs including a lead off home run for the Vikings as the St. E's Ladies defeated Glasgow 10-0.

Cape Henlopen was led offensively by Jordyn Virden who had a double and 2 RBI's. For the Lady Lion's, Abby Smith and Courtney Paolantonio both had home runs and Julia Thuer broke the 9-9 tie in the top of the 9th with a 2 RBI double. The Lady Lions of Red Lion won by a 15-9 score over the Lady Vikings of Cape Henlopen.

Jess Evans was 2 for 3 and Jess Behornar was 3 for 4. Aubrey Foster and Ashley Gallahger were 2 for 4 for Penn as they defeated the Lady Senators of Dover 10-8.

Christiana were led by relief pitcher Jemiah Groce who had 3 hits. Catcher Shaina Copeland had a double in the sixth inning that cleared the bases for the Vikings of Christiana as they defeated the Lady Yellowjackets of Newark 20-9


Newark out hit the Vikings eight hits to two hits going into the sixth innning, but trailed on the scoreboard after the Vikings took the lead in the third inning. The Vikings put the game out of reach with a six run sixth inning.

Freshmen Charotte Rose had three hits for the Yellowjackets and Aubrey Smith, Adrienna Berry, Emily Barks, Shannon Smith, Megan Hunter and Eden Rose had one hit each. Eden Rose had a two run double in the first inning.

The Patriots held Wilmington Charter scoreless with just one hit through 6 innings and defeated the Lady Force by a 6-3 score. NCS was led by Jude McGough who was 3-3 scoring 2 runs with one RBI. Peyton Vivian was 3-4 for the Patriots and Madi Turner tallied 2 RBI. Sierra Anderson and Caitlin Pontak each had multiple hits for Newark Charter. Mallory McCormick registered 2 hits for the Force..


In the bottom of the seventh inning, Concord's Sarah Raab hit a double and then Eryn Bailey hit a double to score Sarah Raab to tie the game. Makaila Gordy followed up with a walk-off single scoring Kaitlyn Carter to win the game for the Lady Raiders as they defeated the Lady Silver Eagles of Hodgson by a 5-4 score. Makaila Gordy went 2 for 4 with an RBI, Sarah Raab went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored, and Aly Fox had a 2 run triple. Hodgson's Brooklynne Johnson went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Sarah Raab earned her 4th win of the season.

The Lady Green Knights of Mt. Pleasant defeated the Lady Vikings of Christiana. For the Lady Knights, Tionne Henson was 3 for 4, Stacia Potts was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, Kelsey Eroh and Kylee Balbach also were 2 for 3 as was the Vikings Jemiah Groce.


The Lady Eagles were led by Aubrey Heath who went 2-2 and Anna Tidaback who went 1-3 with an RBI. The Lady Lions of Red Lion Christian defeated the Lady Eagles of Bohemia Manor by a 5-1 score and were led offensively by Maddie Beres who went 1-3 with a double and 3 RBI's and Zoe Wilcox who went 2-2 with 2 runs scored. Defensively, the Lady Lions were led by Caroline Paolantonio who pitched a complete game allowing one run and five hits.


Softball

The Wildcats got the bats rolling early in game as they defeated the Lady Blue Jays of Seaford by an 18-2 score.. Avery Wheatley, Jordan Moore, and Paige Lynch had multiple hits for the Wildcats. Brielle Johnson hit her first home run (Grand Slam) this season in the 4th inning.. Tracy Pleasanton picked up the win in the circle. A.Cannon lead the way for the Blue Jays with 2 hits.
Abby Cunningham pitched a complete game 1-0 shut out for Padua. She also singled in Catie Baxter in the bottom of the first for the only run of the game. Taylor Beres threw very well for Red Lion. Julia Thuer and Caroline Paolantonio both had 2 hits for Red Lion as well.


Middletown's Melissa Jones had a great game both at the plate and in the field, going 2-for-4 with 4 RBIs and making an incredible diving play in center field to end WP's 3rd inning rally. as the Lady Cavs won by an 11-5 score. Middletown also had multi-hit games from Carly Setting, Jordan Cooke, Brianna Reed, and MacKenzie Hymes. Indira Purnell went 2-for-4 and had 2 RBI's for the Colonials.
Concord's offense was led by Melissa Didonato who went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's and scored a run and Kaitlyn Carter who went 2 for 3 and scored two runs. Sarah Raab had nine strikeouts and earned her 5th win of the season. Stacia Potts had two hits for Mt. Pleasant.

The Bulldogs picked up there first win of the season an 11-9 victory over the Lady Vikings of Christiana. Kayla Blythe had 2 doubles and 4 RBI's, Destinee Bodiford had 2 hits and 2 RBI's and Tabitha Parker had 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Lexie Paul had 2 hits and Sami Wulkewics and Kaybriana Campbell had a hit. Chelsea Gbemudu had 2 hits and pitched a great game striking out 7.
Christiana's S. Copeland, H. Henshaw, K. Dawson and T. Harris had hits. J. Groce pitched a good game and had 7 strike outs.


Appoquinimink led Charter 2 to 1 with two outs and runs 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the 7th. When Ashley Steiner singled to rightfield and Appoquinimink Isabella Eleazar threw a lazer to the plate ending the game and securing the win for the Jaguars. On the day Andrea Johnson went 2 for 4 with an RBI double. Both Jaguar runs were scored by Taylor Vitola. Charters Taylor Gillis doubled and scored the Forces only run. MacKenzie Short and Payton Czerwinski gave the crowd a pitchers duel. Short earned the win scattering 3 hits while striking out 6.
Jessie Oldham picked up her 3rd win of the season as her record improves to 3-3 on the season to pace the Lady Tigers of AI DuPont by a 11-9 score over the Lady Cougars of Delcastle. She struck out 4 Delcastle batters. Oldham went 3-3 and 5 rbis from the plate with a single, double, and a triple. Tyler Eddy and Emily Johns each had 2 hits for A.I. Megan Hynson and Danielle Adams had 2 hits each from Delcastle.

DMA had multiple hits by Lexy Johnson, Ashley Conaty, Clare Henry and Rachel Savini. Clare Henry led the charge going 4 for 4 as they defeated the Lady Auks of Archmere by a 10-4 score.
Archmere was led by Andrea Penrod and Jocelyn Phillips who both hit a double.
Olyvia Smith improves her record to 2-1 and collected the 5-2 win for Smyrna while throwing three and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs, zero hits, striking out four, and walking zero. Lexi Moore, Sara Miller and Olyvia Smith each collected multiple hits for Smyrna. Jada Courtney led the Riders with one hit and one RBI.


Kaylee Craig had 4 hits leading the way for St. Elizabeth as they defeated the Lady Spartans of St.Marks by a 9-5 score. Julia Casson picked up the win in the circle with 5 strikeouts and Miranda Wohner and Claudia Roncone added 2 hits a piece for the lady Vikings.
Camryn Thompson threw a complete game allowing 1 earned run on 1 hit, while striking out 13 and walking 4 to pace Delmarva Christian to a 9-1 win over Holly Grove Christian School of MD. Jordyn DiFava led the Royals with 2 doubles a triple and 5 RBI. Camryn Breasure was 2-3 with an RBI and run scored and Siera Jones had 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Mikayla Frantz threw a one hitter for Dover and C.J. Wooleyhand had three hits and scored four runs to lead the Dover Offense as they defeated the Yellowjackets of Newark 16-0. Aubrey Smith had the lone hit for Newark.



Conrad's offense was truly a team effort. Sarah Bessel was 4 for 4 with two triples. Isabelle Troise and Emily Yeatman each had 3 hits a piece. Skyler Poore, Cassidy Dodds, and Sophia Swack each added 2 hits for Conrad as they defeated the Lady Tigers of AI DuPont 11-1. Pitcher Emily Yeatman threw a 2-hitter to lead the Red Wolves defense. Jessica Oldman had a double for AI, and Abigail Merritt also added a hit for the Tigers.




Nicole Tomassi and Jalia Lawrence combined to pitch a no hitter and defeated the Lady Highlanders of McKean 18-0 . Jalia also went 3 for 4 with a home run. Kelsey Eroh had 3 hits. Henson, Potts, Toy and Sydney Holman all had two hits for Mount. Highlanders Centerfielder Valerie Clark made 3 nice catches including a diving catch behind 2nd base.

Highlights: . Lexy Johnson and Ashley Conaty each collected multiple hits for Delaware Military Academy as they defeated the Lady Pandas of Padua 6-1. Conaty and Samantha Freeland each drove in two runs to lead DMA.


MacKenzie Short got her 7th win of the season while striking out 9 as her record improves to 7-3 as the Lady Jaguars of Appoquinimink defeated the Lady Auks of Archmere by a 5-2. Offensively Appoquinimink was lead by Andrea Johnson who went 3 for 4 with a 2 run Triple. Rachel Durham, Mallory Weir, Taylor Vitola and Alicia Bruce also added multiple hit games for the Jaguars. Mady McDougal had 2 hits including a homerun for Archmere.



Hayley McCabe lead the lady Knights to a 3-2 victory in a tough matchup with the lady cavaliers. Hayley scattered 7 hits with 10 strikeouts in a her effort. Mackenzie Hymes and Lily Cera-Prouix also scattered 7 hits and struck out 6 hitters. The bottom of the 7th inning started with a Mya Donaway walk followed by a Hayley McCabe sacrifice bunt. Macey Hayes entered as a pinch runner for Donaway and with 2 outs Taylor Evick devlivered a single that scored Macey to end the battle. Alison Clemons had 3 hits for Middletown.


Winning pitcher Morgan Heritage at 5-4 along with teammates Brooklynne Johnson, and Juliet Bragg had multiple hits for Hodgson as they defeated the Lady Cougars of Delcastle by a 15-0 score. Catherine Nelson had a hit for Delcastle.


Rejene Bowe and C J Kohel had two triples and Darby Brenna had a triple and 4 RBI's for the Lady Bucs of Milford as they the Lady Vikings of St. Elizabeth 16-4. Milford also had Morgan Petty go 2 for 2 with 3 runs scored as they improved to 5-4 on the year. St. E's Mary Kegleman and Miranda Wohner were both 1 for 2.
 
Softball 5-1-17-

Camryn Thompson threw a complete game shutout, scattering 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3 paced Delmarva Christian to a 10-0 win over Salisbury Christian. Thompson also led the way offensively going 3-4 with a double, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Malaurie Noble had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Siera Jones had 3 RBI and a run scored.


MacKenzie Short earned the 4-2 Lady Jaguar win striking out 14 Cavaliers. Appoquiniminks Taylor Coleman broke a scoreless game in the 3rd with a 2 run single. Middletown tied the game in the top of the 5th on a solo homerun by Rebecca Buckman and back to back doubles by Carly Setting, and Lily Cera-Proulx. The Jaguars answered in the bottom of the fifth when Mallory Weir doubled and scored on a 2 out hit by Brooke Miller. APPO added an insurance run in the 6th. Alicia Bruce had 2 hits and scored 2 runs and Taylor Vitola also had a multiple hit day for the Jaguars.


Darby Brennan was 3 for 3 with 2 Home Runs and 5 RBI's as The Milford Lady Bucs topped Cape 10-2. Rejene Bowe was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's and Genesis Chamberlayne had two hits for Milford. Raegan Jackson had a two run homer for Cape.


Mount Pleasant down by 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th rallied scoring 4 runs on 4 singles and the winning run scored by Kylee Balbach stealing home with 2 outs as they defeated the Lady Red Wolves of Conrad by a 9-8 score. Stacia Potts and Alyssa Scott both went 3 for 4 for Mount while Eroh, Toy and Balbach each contributed 2 hits. Leadoff Skyler Poore had 2 hits for Conrad and Madilyn Tiberi had a triple over the centerfielders head. Nicole Tomassi struck out 8 for the winners.


Abby Cunningham scattered 6 hits to lead Padua to a 6-0 win over the Lady Auks of Archmere. Alex Musial had 3 hits for the Pandas. Julia Pollinger, Abby Cunningham, and Amelia Giordano added two hits a piece as well. Maggie Brown had two hits for Archmere.


Jessie Oldham improved to 4-4 for the season after pitching 4 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts as the Lady Tigers of AI DuPont defeated Newark 17-7. She was also 3-4 at the plate with a Homerun, double, and a single and had 8 RBIs. Jamie Hawrylak was also 3-4 at the plate with a triple and 2 singles.

Newarks offense was led by Adrienna Berry who had 2 hits, a triple and a single. Shannon Smith was 3-4 and Eden Rose was 2-3 with a double.

Freshman Jayla Culver picked up her first career win, allowing 1 earned run on 4 hits walking 2. Camryn Thompson, Malaurie Noble, Morgan Waide and McKenzie Waide had 2 RBI's each for the Royals as they defeated St. Peter and Paul by a 13-2 score.



Mackenzie Short earned the 11-1 win pitching a perfect game while striking out 10 Tigers. Offensivley the Jagaurs were led by Brooke Miller who went 2 for 2 with 3 RBI's including a 2-Run Home run. Taylor Coleman went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's of her own to help Appoquinimink get the win. Autumn Gentry and Taylor Vitola rounded out the day for APPO both having multi hit days.



Mount's Jalia Lawrence pitched a two hitter with 5 strike outs and doubled as they defeated the Lady Jackets of Newark 14-2. Kylee Balbach was 2 for 3 for Mount. Shannon Smith doubled for Newark.



Concord's Sarah Raab pitched a shutout, earning her 6th win of the season and defeated the Lady Cougars of Delcastle by an 11-0 score. The offense was led by Shelly Johnson who went 3 for 4 with a triple and 4 RBI's and Melissa Didonato who went 2 for 3. Aly Fox and Makaila Gordy each collected a hit and an RBI.
Nadia Kulikowski, Catherine Nelson, and Cassidy Baiocco each had a hit for Delcastle.



A back and forth scoring battle between the Lady Dragons and Lady Rams.
For Glasgow, Dymond Taylor scored 5 runs; Jazzmin Haman scored 3 runs and had a 3-run triple; and Morgan Cook was 2-6 with 2RBI's.
For Dickinson, as they won 24-23, Lydia Todd was 4-4, 4RS, and 5RBI's. Ta'shai Haman had a double and 2 RBI's and Emily Jones had the game winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning.



Archmere's Annie Penrod lead off the bottom of the first with a triple and was driven home by Mackenzie Popp as they defeated Newark Charter 5-4. Singles by Kayla Murray and Maggie Brown gave the Auks a 3-0 lead. Jude McGough got the Patriots on the board in the 3rd, with a triple and then a run on a Lilly Wingo single. Wingo had another RBI in the 5th to cut the lead to 1, but Kayla Murray's RBI single put the Auks back up two. The Patriots mounted a comeback in the 7th with a 2 RBI double from Madison Turner, but the Auks held on to win 5-4.

For the Auks, Penrod went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and Maggie Brown reached base in all 3 at bats.
For the Patriots, Jude McGough, Lilly Wingo, and Madison Turner all had multiple hits.




The Bulldogs got the 16-2 win today with help from Kayla Blythe who had 2 hits including a double and 2 RBI's, Lexie Paul had 2 doubles and 4 RBI's. Tori Quillen had 2 hits and Tabitha Parker had 2 hits including a double with 5 RBI's. Sami Wulkewicz pitched 2 good innings and had a hit and Chelsea Gbemudu also pitched and had a hit.
Symanski, Graham and Page each had a hit for McKean.



Jordyn Virden led the Vikings offense with 4 RBI's, a home run, and 4 runs scored to pace the Lady Vikings of Cape Henlopen to a 23-0 win over the Lady Blue Jays of Seaford. Ryleigh Elliott went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI"s and Sara Lallier added 3 RBI's. Savannah Reed pitched the no hit, shut out in 5 innings, striking out 5.


Gabby Lano pitched a complete game shut-out for the Lady Lions allowing 2 hits and recording 11 strikeouts as they defeated the Vikings of St. Elizabeth by a 17-0 score. St. Elizabeth was led offensively by Mary Kegelman who went 1-2 and Julia Casson who went 1-2 with a double. The Lady Lions entire line-up contributed offensively in today's game with 16 hits.


The lady nights defeated a tough lady Indian squad by an 8-2 score, behind the steady pitching of Hayley McCabe and a solid defensive performance. Offensively, the ladies knights used a balanced attack with Kailee Abbott collecting 3 hits. Julia Bomhardt and Damian Williams each collected 2 hits for the Indians.




Shannon Lord went 4-4 with a double, 2 home runs and 4 rbi's, Brooke Ward had 2 hits including a home run, had 3 rbi's and picked up the Lady Wildcats 17-7 win over the Lady Wildcats of Delmar and win on the mound, Rylee Shockley had a home run and 3 rbi's, Kayla Booros homered, doubled and had 3 rbi's, Jenna Tate had two hits, including a double and scored three runs and Madison Watson had three hits. Avery Wheatley had three hits for Delmar. Shelby Taylor and Sydney Tyndal had two hits for Delmar.

The Bulldogs got the 14-7 win over the Lady Blue Raiders of Woodbridge today and everyone in the line up played a part and had a hit. Destinee Bodiford lead the team going 4 for 4 with 3 doubles and an RBI. Lexie Paul also had a big day at the plate with 3 hits including a triple and an RBI. Kayla Blythe and Sami Wulkewicz each had 2 hits. Moira Flowers also had a hit and 3 RBI's.
Masten and Ogden had 2 hits each for Woodbridge and Ogden pitched a good game striking out 4.




It was senior day with Abby Cunningham , Amelia Giordano, Lynsie Grant, and Cam Mitchell being honored along with their parents before the game. All four seniors contributed to the win with hits and RBI's. The Pandas of Padua won by a 9-1 score over the Lady Vikings of St. Elizabeth and also had doubles from Alex Musial and Katie Baxter along with triples from Alex Musial and Zoey Jones . Claudia Roncone had a double and scored on a ground out for the Vikings.

Newark Charter tallied 12 hits in 5 innings to earn the 13-3 win over Conrad. The Patriots were led by Madi Turner who was 3-3 with 2 RBI. Sierra Anderson was 2-3 with 4 RBI and Caitlin Pontak added 2 hits and 2 RBI. Cam Quirk scored 4 runs for NCS. Sarah Bessel and Skyler Poore each had 2 hits for Conrad with Emiy Yeatman knocking in 2 runs.



The Cougars took an early lead thanks to hits by Hannah Sargent-Yeager, Danielle Adams, and Cassidy Baiocco and defeated the Lady Yellowjackets 15-7. Sam Rios pitched a complete game and only gave up 6 hits, while Danielle Adams hit a 2-run homerun in the top of 7th to help extend Delcastle's lead.

Charlotte Rose, Emily Barks, Eden Rose, Megan Hunter, and Aubrey Smith all had hits for Newark.



Jordan Cooke singled for Middletown in the first inning and knocked in a run. Ashley Steiner and Casey Meyer had multiple hits on the day. Katie Watson knocked in 2 runs. Payton Czerwinski earned the 12-2 win for Charter.




Brandywine played a good game and picked up another 9-4 win over the Lady Rams of Dickinson. Lexie Paul had 2 hits including a triple and got an RBI. Kayla Blythe, Moira Flowers, Destinee Bodiford and Tori Quillen each had 2 hits and Kaybriana Campbell had a double. Sami Wulkewicz had an RBI and played a great game at 2nd base. Aleigha Miller had a couple of nice catches in center field and turned a double play. Chelsea Gbemudu pitched a great game striking out 6 and had a hit.
Gotthold had 2 hits for Dickinson and Todd and Williams also had a hit.

The Jaguars also had big days from Mallory Weir who had 2 hits including a double and 3 RBI's. And Rachel Durham who belted home 2 runs with 2 hits including a double. Brooke Miller finsihed the day with a 2 run triple. Sarah Raab doubled for Concord.

Newark Charter had 5 players register multi-hit games. Madi Turner and Lilly Wingo each knocked in 2 runs for the Patriots as they defeated the Lady Vikings of St. Elizabeth 8-0. NCS pitcher Caitlin Pontak tallied 11 strike outs. Miranda Wohner had the only hit of the day for the Vikings.



The Vikings jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on an RBI double from Julia Casson and an RBI single from Alexa Cruz. The Auks responded with 10 unanswered runs over the next 5 innings and defeated the Lady Vikings of St. Elizabeth 10-3. Maddie Wallace lead the way offensively for the Auks going 4 for 4 with 2 RBI's. Jocelyn Phillips reached base in all 4 at bats and scored 3 runs. Madyson McDougal added 2 hits for the Auks and Sophie Friedman drove in 3 runs. For St. Elizabeth's, Casson, Cruz, and Claudia Roncone each had multi hit days.

The Cougars scored 6 runs in the 4th inning to come back for a 6-4 win against the Brandywine Bulldogs. Samantha Rios had a double for the Cougars and 7 strikeouts. Catherine Nelson had a triple for Delcastle.

Kayla Blythe, Samantha Wulkewicz, Lexie Paul, Chelsea Gbemudu, Victoria Quillen, and Kaybriana Campbell-Mobley all had hits for Brandywine.


:Bre Bryant was 3 for 3 with a double and 3 runs scored, Emily Proffitt was 4 for 4 with tow doubles and 3 runs scored and Grace Walker was 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs for Caravel Academy as they defeated the Lady Silver Eagles of Hodgson 16-0.
Amaia Killian was 2 for 3 for Hodgson.




Both Newark and Dickinson played a great defensive game at Dickinson High School.

Newark was led by Freshmen Pitcher Charlotte Rose who pitched a complete game four-hitter and twice left runners in scoring position with no out in the first two innings shutting down the Rams offense with good pitching and solid defense behind her as they defeated the Lady Rams of Dickinson 14-1. Rose also scored four runs for the Yellowjackets. Emily Barks drove in 4RBI's and had two hits. Kailee Beam also had two hits and drove in two runs.

The Rams turned in a Triple Play in the top of the 2nd Inning. Charlotte Rose only time not reaching base hit a line drive to left center that was caught by Emily Jones on the run, who threw into 2nd Base to Shortstop Sarah Gotthold who tagged out the runner going back to 2nd, and then tagged the runner on 1st going back to first base.

Dickinson was led offensively by pitcher Lydia Todd who had two hits and Brynea Spratley scored the lone run for the Rams. Megan Carroll and Autumn Joseph each had a hit for the Rams.



Newark Charter was led by Lilly Wingo who was 3-3 while Jude McGough, Cailtin Pontak and Abby McCann added two hits a piece as they defeated St. Marks 12-0. McCann led the Patriots with 3 RBI. Sierra Anderson and Cam Quirk scored 3 runs for NCS. In the circle, Pontak tossed a one-hit shut out while striking out 12. Paige Thomas had St. Mark's only hit.



Leanna Bib, Toni Testa, Jess Evans, and Mackenzie Whalley were all 2 for 3 for Penn as they defeated the Lady Green Knights of Mt. Pleasant by a 24-2. Jess Behornar was 3 for 4.
Jessica Toy, Annalise Jackson, Kelsey Eroh, and Isabella Conte each had hits for MT. Pleasant.

Ashlyn Stonebraker had 3 hits, while Allie Zitvogel, Bec Hastings, Siera Jones, Camryn Breasure and McKenzie Waide had 2 hits each for the Royals.



Mackenzie Short pitched a 2 hit shutout while striking out 7 St. Georges hitters to earn the win a Lady Jaguar 14-0 win over the Lady Hawks of St. Georges. Appoquinmink jumped on the Hawks with a 5 run 1st inning and never looked back and put the game away in the 3rd with an 8 run inning. On the day Andrea Johnson had 4 RBI's walking twice and belting her fourth homerun of the year this one a 3 run shot. Haley Jones, Brooke Miller, and Rachel Durham all had 2 hits on the day and all three had 3 RBI's. One of Durhams 2 hits was a 2-run homerun in the 3rd. Taylor Vitola and Taylor Coleman also had multi hit days for the Jaguars. Taylor Davis, and Sheridan Long had hits for St. Georges.



  • Jessica Anderson didn't allow a single run as Smyrna defeated Woodbridge 23-0 on Monday. Anderson allowed just one hit.
  • Sara Miller led Smyrna to victory by driving in six runs, while Lexi Moore scored four runs.
  • Olyvia Smith and Kaelyn Press had 3 hits each, while Smith scored 2 and Press scored 3.
  • Abigail Mace added 4 RBIs


  • Taylor Abshagen and Rachel Jones combined to throw a no hitter for Bo Manor and won by a 7-0 score. For Archmere, Maggie Brown made multiple great defensive plays at first.

5-9-17 Softball Games


Mackenzie Short earned her 12th win of the season allowing 1 hit and striking out 6 Yellow Jackets in three and a third innings to pace the Lady Jags of Appoquinimink to a 20-0 win over the Lady Jackets of Newark. The offense was lead by Andrea Johnson who went 2 for 3 with a triple and 4 RBIs. Taylor Vitola went 3 for 3 with a double and 3 RBIs for the Jaguars. Brooke Miller had 2 hits and 4 RBIs including a double and Haley Jones also finished the day with multiple hits and 3 RBIs. Mallory Weir finished the day with 3 RBIs of her own all in the first inning for Appoquinimink. Shannon Smith had both of Newark's hits.



St. E's played great defense to keep the game 0-0 til the 4th inning. Padua had multiple hits from Hannah Williams and Zoey Jones. Catie Baxter, Amelia Giordano, Lynsie Grant, Abby Cunningham, Gabby Frabizzio, Zoey Jones, and Alex Musial all had RBI's. Alena Boyer had a successful suicide squeeze to score Katie Twardowski as well. Lynsie Grant and Abby Cunningham combined for the one hit 10-0 Padua Panda shut out.


Avery Wheatley and Jordan Moore collected 2 hits a piece for the Lady Delmar Wildcats as they defeated the Lady Vikings of Cape Henlopen 6-4. Haley Rogers hit a 3 run home run to extend the early lead. Hannah Jones lead the Vikings going 2-2 with 2 RBI's.


The lady knights of Sussex Central defeated a scrappy Polytech team by a 10-0 score and were led by Kasie Reed and Kasie Simpson with 2 hits each.


Samantha Freeland, Lexy Johnson, Clare Henry, Kayla Frazer and Nikki Elliott all had multple hits to lead DMA to a 9-2 win over the Lady Force of Charter. Taylor Gillis and Ashley Steiner both had 2 hits for Wilmington Charter.



Kaitlyn Stahre and Brooke Glanden both got a homer in each for Lake Forest as they defeated the Lady Blue Raiders of Woodbridge 17-0.


Jaime Hawrylak started off the game with a single and would eventually score A.I.'s first and only run of the game. Middletown answered in the bottom of the first, scoring 4 runs off 3 hits, and they never looked back as they defeated the Lady Tigers of AI 12-1. MacKenzie Hymes earned the win for Middletown, and freshman Ashley Politza had an impressive first appearance in the circle this season. Middletown had multi-hit games from Ali Clemons and Brianna Reed.

Seniors Bec Hastings, Allie Zitvogel and McKenzie Waide combined for 5 hits, 7 RBI and 10 runs scored on senior day. Thompson, Jordyn DiFava, Ashlyn Stonebraker and Malaurie Noble each had multiple hits for the Royals.



The Lady Riders of Caesar Rodney took the lead in the 2nd inning when freshman Jada Courtney drove in one on a double. IR took the lead for good with 5 runs in the 3rd. CR collected 7 hits with Sophia Badell and Alexis Howerin collecting multiple hits, and Jada Courtney and Stephanie Horne each driving in one run. IR had 10 hits with Makenzie Collins, And Samantha Mumford each collecting multiple hits and defeated the Lady Riders of CR 7-3.


The Milford Bucs beat Seaford 23-1. Morgan Abbott pitched 3 perfect innings and Darby Brennan was 5 for 5 with 2 Home Runs, a triple, and 8 RBI's. Rejene Bowe, Morgan Petty, and CJ Kohel were each 3 for 5 for the Bucs. Shianne Johnson was 1 for 3 with a run scored for Seaford.


Concord's offense was led by Kaitlyn Carter who went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored as they defeated the Lady Colonials of William Penn 15-2. Eryn Bailey and Mary Plasmier each went 2 for 4 with an RBI and scored a run, and Skye Lupi and Shelly Johnson both had a hit, 2 RBI's, and scored a run. Sarah Raab earned her 7th win of the season. William Penn's Jessica Behornar had a double.

Middletown was led offensively by Carly Setting, Brianna Reed, Lilly Cera-Proulx and Jordan Cooke, who combined for 8 hits and 7 RBI's and defeated the Lady Eagles of Hodgson 13-3. Hodgson's Morgan Heritage went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.


Abby Collins drove in the winning run for Lake in the 6th as they defeated the Lady Seahawks of Delaware Military Academy 4-3. Maddox went 3-3 with 2 RBIs. Both Collins and Aguilar went 2-3. Savini for DMA was 1-1 with a triple.



Kayla Murray threw a 3 hitter striking out 6 to earn the 13-1 win for the Auks. Murray also went 4 for 4 at the plate with 4 runs scored. Annie Penrod added 3 hits and 3 runs including her first career homerun. Maggie Brown drove in 3 runs for the Auks.

For Brandywine, Destine'e Bodiford had an RBI double.

Jermiah Groce put the game out of reach with a grand slam home run in the 4th to pace Christiana past McKean 25-12. Jemiah went 4-5 and collected 7 RBI's. Lambert went 4-4 and included 4 RBIS.
Page, Spruel, and Smith collected 2 hits each for the Highlanders.



: Morgan Abbott pitched a 4 hit shutout while Darby Brennan and Morgan Petty each had two RBI's to lead the Bucs of Milford to an 8-0 win over the Lady Colonials. William Penn's Mackenzie Whalley was 1 for 2 with a double.


:Conrad was led by Emily Yeatman who went 2-3 and Sara Bessel who went 1-3 with a stolen base. The Lady Lions were led by Julia Thuer who went 3-4 with a triple, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Defensively, Caroline Paolantonio pitched a complete game with 7 strikeouts as they defeated the Lady Redskins of Conrad 13-3.

Hannah Sargent-Yeager had 4 hits for Delcastle. Catcherine Nelson had 9 strikeouts to help the Cougars defensively and won 17-3.

McKean's Valerie Clark went 2 for 3 with a double and a triple.


Mackenzie Short earned her 13th win of the season against 3 losses while striking out 11 as the Lady Jags defeated the Lady Pandas of Padua 8-5. Haley Jones had a huge day at the plate going 3 for 4 with 5 RBI's including a 3 Run Homerun in the 5th. Mallory Weir also had 3 hitts for Appoquinimink as she doubled and had 2 RBI's of her own. Brooke Miller, Taylor Coleman, and Taylor Vitola also had multi hit games. Padua was lead by Abby Cunningham who had 2 hits and a 4 RBI's. Gabriela Frabizzio also had 2 hits for the Pandas.


DMA was led by Clare Henry and Ali Novotny who both had 2 hits for DMA as they defeated Newark Charter 5-3. Jude McGough was 1 for 2 for Newark Charter.


Sheridan Long pitched 5 innings with 7 strike outs for the Hawks and defeated the Colonials of William Penn 15-2. Rachel DiMarcello went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, and Long went 3 for 4 with a double. William Penns Testa hit a triple and Purnell drove a double.


Alexis Heritage and Amaia Killian collected 3 hits apiece for Hodgson as they defeated the Lady Tigers of AI DuPont 11-5. Morgan Heritage allowed 3 hits, while striking out 15, to earn her 7th win of the season. Tyler Eddy had 2 doubles for AI Dupont.


Brandywine got the win today and everyone played a part and won 13-2. Destinee Bodiford had a double and 3 RBI's, Moira Flowers had 2 doubles, a single and an RBI. Kaybriana Campbell and Tori Quillen each had a hit and Lexie Paul had a big day at the plate with 2 singles a home run and 8 RBI's! Chelsea Gbemudu had a hit and an RBI and pitched a good game only allowing 3 hits.
C. Rose pitched a good game and had 6 strike outs. S. Smith and E. Rose each had a hit.

Hannah Williams, Zoey Jones, and Abby Cunningham all had two hits each in the bottom of the third for Padua as they defeated the Panthers of Polytech by a 16-4 score along with RBI's from Alex Musial, Katie Twardowski, Gabby Frabizzio and Lynsie Grant. Polytech was lead by Hayley DiCarlantonio's two hits and Hailey Wich's two run double in the 5th.



Concord's offense was led by Kaitlyn Carter who was 2 for 4 with an RBI and 4 runs scored, Skye Lupi who was 2 for 4 with a triple, RBI, and 3 runs scored, and Eryn Bailey who was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Lady Raiders of Concord as they defeated Brandywine 15-3. Camryn Best had two hits and Sarah Raab who won the game on the mound at 8-5, Aly Fox, and Makaila Gordy each had an RBI double. Sarah Raab recorded her 8th win of the season. Moira Flowers had two hits for Brandywine.


Isabelle Troise's RBI double lead Conrad to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Archmere fought back getting 2 runs from Mackenzie Popp on RBI's from Jocelyn Phillips and Madyson McDougal. In the 8th inning, Sophie Friedman's single scored Phillips to give the Auks the 4-3 win.

For the Auks, Kayla Murray threw 7 shutout innings, allowing only 4 hits. For Conrad, Emily Yeatman allowed only 5 hits in 8 innings.


The Lady Yellowjackets were led by Charlotte Rose who went 2 for 2 and Heather Holstein who went 1 for 2. The Lady Lions defeated the Yellowjackets of Newark 15-0 and were led by Caroline Paolantonio who went 3-3 with 2 RBI's and Morgan Mendick who went 1-2 with a home run and 4 RBI's. Defensively, Gabby Lano pitched a complete game shut-out with 8 strike outs for the Lady Lions.


CR took the lead early when Jazmine Stamas grounded out scoring one run. Lake took the lead for good
with three runs, seven hits, striking out six, and walking zero and won 4-3. Ball took the loss for CR. She threw seven innings sureending four runs, seven hits, striking out two, and walking zero. Lauren Scott, Alyssa Ball, Stephanie Horne, Alexxys Harris, Sophia Badell, Carissa Thorne, and Jada Courtney each collected one hit for the Riders. Lake Forest had seven hits in the game. Kerrigan Simpson and Mya Maddox each collected multiple hits for Lake Forest.

Hodgson's Morgan Heritage improves her record at 8-8 and with the bat went 3 for 3, while striking out 11, to earn her 8th win of the season. Morgan Merced had 3 RBI's for Hodgson, and Kayla Blythe had a triple for Brandywine.


Amanda Ladzinski and Elizabeth Smith both went 3 for 4 with a combined 4 RBI's to pace Caravel to a 12-1 win over the Lady Patriots of Newark Charter. Kayla Sobolak went 2 for 3 with an RBI for Caravel Academy.
Peyton Vivian wnet 2 for 3 and Sierra Anderson went 2 for 2 for Newark Charter.


Maddy Ogonowski hit 2 home runs including an out of the park grand slam to pace the Lady Tigers of AI to a 16-1 win over the Lady Rams of Dickinson. She had 7 rbi's on the day. Tyler Eddy also had a home run for the Lady Tigers. Lenny Ware, Emily Johns, Jessie Oldham, and Bella Stephano all had multiple hits for A.I. Jessie Oldham picked up the win for A.I.giving up 3 hits and striking out 7.
Dickinson's lone run was scored in the first inning off a Megan Carroll line drive that plated Katelyn Mullins.


Concord was led offensively by Sarah Raab who went 2-4 with a double and run scored and by Eryn Bailey who went 3-4 with an RBI. The Lady Lions were led by Taylor Beres who was 1-3 with a triple and run scored. Five other Lady Lions also had a hit and won 5-3.


Softball 5-17-17


Claudia Roncone and Marissa Kegelman had two hits a piece while Julia Casson picked up the win on the mound as the Lady Vikings of St. Elizabeth defeated the Lady Cougars of Delcastle 10-2.


Smyrna was led by Kaelyn Press who went 4-for-5 at the plate. Press singled in the first, singled in the third, doubled in the fifth, doubled in the sixth, and in the seventh. Press, Lexi Moore, and Olivia Faragher each collected multiple hits for Smyrna as they defeated the Lady Cavaliers of Middletown 10-2.


The Lady Bucs capped off their 2017 Season with a big 6-5 win over Delmar. Rejene Bowe was 3 for 4 and Megan Fry had a two run Homer in the bottom of the 6th to give Milford the lead. Avery Wheatley, Madi Lemon, and Shelby Taylor had multiple hits for the Wildcats. Taylor also lead Delmar with 2 doubles.


MTP’s Kylee Balbach was 3 for 3, Bella Conte was 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and Anna Wildman 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs as they defeated the Lady Dragons of Glasgow 19-8. Jazzmin Haman had a double for one of Glasgow’s 4 hits off winning pitcher Jalia Lawrence on a very hot and humid day. Each team turned 2 double plays.



Shannon Lord had 3 hits and 5 rbi’s, Madison Watson hit two home runs and scored three runs as they defeated the Blue Jays of Seaford by a 19-0 score, Ryle Shockley hit two home runs, Jaykayla had two hits including a home run, Kyler Marvel had two hits, scored three runs and had two rbi’s, Madison Parker had two hits and Jenna Tate had two hits. Tori Grimes hit the fence in the first inning and Kelsey Welch single later in the game for Seaford.













Mackenzie Short earned her 14th win of the season as her record improves to 14-3 while striking out 8 Green Knights and won by a 3-0 score. Appoquinimink broke a scoreless tie in the 5th when Taylor Vitola scored on a suicide squeeze from Taylor Coleman. Vitola singled to lead off the inning, stole second and advanced to thrid on a fielders choice. In the 6th Rachel Durham doubled home Haley Jones. Appoquinimink add one more in the 7th when Andrea Johnson scored on a sacrafice fly from Jones. One the day Taylor Coleman and Mallory Weir both had 2 hits for the Jaguars. Stacia Potts singled and made 2 outstanding catches in leftfield for Mount.


Both teams played a very close game. It came down to the right plays at the right time. Newark played a very good offensive game. Newark was led by E. Barks who went 2 for 2 with 1 RBI and 2 walks. E. Rose went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and 1 walk. A. Berry also went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Glasgow was lead by D. Taylor who went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's and 1 walk and won 12-7.


Caitlin Donnelly led Padua with three hit including a double as they defeated the Lady Wildcats of Delmar 6-2. Zoey Jones doubled in a run to help the visiting team. Abby Cunningham had a strong pitching performance for Padua allowing five hits and zero earned runs. Avery Wheatley and Madi Lemon each had two hits for Delmar.



William Penn held on for the 4-3 win despite a 7th inning rally by St. Elizabeths. Mackenzie Whalley was 2 for 3. Indira Purnell and Jess Behornar each had 2 hits.
Indira Purnell held St. Es to 3 hits, striking out 9.
Claudia Roncone, Miranda Wohner, and Madison Merrill all had hits for St. Es.
Julia casson pitched a great game popping up 14 WP batters.



Softball 5-16-17


Alyssa Ball didn’t allow a single run as CR defeated Laurel 1-0. Ball only allowed 2 hits. CR didn’t take the lead until later in the game when Sophia Badell singled with two outs in the fifth to score Carissa Thorne. Badell went 1for 2 at the plate as she led the team with one run batted in. Lexie Ullman and Lillie Hitchens each collected a hit for Laurel.



Julia Casson went 3-4 at the plate and pitched at 1 hit shutout with 11 strikeouts for St. Elizabeth as they defeated the Lady Vikings of Christiana 8-0.


On senior night all 3 seniors contributed to a DMA 2-0 win. Lana Brown had a double, Emely Subda had a sac fly and Kayla Frazer had 9 putouts. Madyson McDougal had the only hit for Archmere.


Caitlin Pontak had 3 RBIs while going 1-2 with a scarfice fly to lead Newark Charter to a 6-1 win over Hodgson. Kacie Noonan added 2 RBIs of her own and Lilly Wingo scored 2 runs for the Patriots. Alexis Heritage, Alaysia Longmire and Felicia Shahan had hits for Hodgson.



Middletown’s offense was unstoppable today as the team collected a total of 12 hits on the day and defeated Conrad 11-1. Seniors Jordan Cooke and Gina Lano each had a stellar outing for their senior game, as both of them reached base 3 times and scored a run. Isabella Troise doubled and scored the only run for Conrad.


Rejene Bowe and Gen Chamberlayne were 3 for 3 and Morgan Abbott pitched a two hit shutout to lead Milford to a 13-0 Victory. Megan Fry and Julia Reed went 2 for 3 for the Lady Bucs. Brittanie Stephenson and Erica Olsen had hits for Woodbridge.


Paige Thomas had two hits including an RBI single for St. Marks in the first inning. Alex Musial and Zoey Jones scored on Gabby Frabizzio’s double for Padua in the sixth and defeated St. Marks 2-1. Katie Twardowski also had two hits for the Pandas. Abby Cunningham struck out 13.



Charter had hits from Cierra Tweed, Payton Czerwinski and Mallory McCormick. The Lady Lions were led offensively by Maddie Beres who went 2-3 with a home run and 2 RBI’s and Brooke Dooley who went 2-3 with a run scored and won by a 3-0 score. Defensively the Lady Lions were led by Taylor Beres who pitched a complete game shut-out with 6 strike-outs.


The Bulldogs battled back to get the 11-10 win at the senior recognition game after falling behind by 6 runs in the first inning. The only senior on the team Lexie Paul had a big day with 3 hits including a triple and 3 RBIs. Destinee Bodiford had 3 doubles and 4 RBIs including the game winning hit. Kayla Blythe also had 3 hits and Moira Flowers and Tabith Parker each had 2 hits and Tori Quillen also had a hit. Chelsea Gbemudu pitched a good game and had 9 strike outs.
M. Guns pitched a good game for Glasgow and had 2 hits. D. Taylor and T. Hollis also had a hit.

Emilee Strickland led the Patriots going 3-3 with a triple, a RBI and 3 runs scored. Lilly Wingo and Sierra Anderson each went 2-2 with Anderson adding 2 RBIs. Emily Johns, Simone Scott and Tolani Dada had hits for A.I. Newark Charter defeated AI 10-0.

Charter’s Taylor Gillis and Ashley Steiner each had a hit and scored a run, and Ciera Tweed had a double and scored a run.


Mackenzie Short scattered 4 hits to her her 15th win of the season to pace the Lady Jaguars of Appoquinimink to a 6-3 win over the Bucs of Caravel. Andrea Johnson had 3 RBIs including a 2 run double. Brooke Miller had 2 hits and 2 runs for Appoquinimink. While Rachel Durham Autumn Gentry and Taylor Vitola also had multi hit days for the Jaguars. Grace Walker had an RBI triple and Natalie Paoli hit a 2 run home run for Caravel.


MacKenzie Hymes and Ashley Politza combined for the 15-2 win, striking out 5 batters and scattering 3 hits in just 5 innings of work. Middletown’s offense collected a total of 12 hits on the day. Brandywine’s Destine’e Bodiford was 1-for-2 with a walk and run scored.


The Yellowjackets and Ravens played a great game on Senior Night at Newark to close out the 2017 season as the Lady Jackets won 9-5. The Five Senior Yellowjackets Heather Holstein, Kailee Beam, Aliyah Henson, Ashley Roberts, and Heidi Von Duyke all got the start in the game.

Pitcher Charlotte Rose pitched a complete game five hitter and struck out six Raven Batters, while her counter part Kara Scarangella also went the distance yielding eight hits and striking out seven Yellowjackets.

Newark manufactored 3 runs each in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th innings with timely hits and solid base running. Emily Barks led the Yellowjackets with a 2 for 2 day with a triple, three runs scored and an RBI. Shannon Smith was also 2 for 2 and drove in 2 RBI’s. Adrienna Berry caught her first game for Newark and had a double and two runs scored. She also completed a great tag play at the plate that ended a Raven rally in the 3rd inning.

St. Thomas More was led offensively by Margaret Poppiti who had two hits. Elise Conlin scored twice for the Ravens.

Newark completed their season with a 5-13 record and wish their Seniors the best of luck in the future.
Katie Dunlap hit a Grand Slam and had 6 RBIs to led Dover to a 12-2 win over the Lady Blue Jays of Seaford. Ciara Chandler had a 2 run single for Seaford.


Skylar Brainard had a lead-off homerun and Jazzmin Haman had a triple for the Dragons which helped lead the Dragons to an early lead over Delcastle. The Cougars rallied behind their pitcher Sam Rios and came back to score 9 runs in the third inning, thanks to hits by Autumn Chalmers, Enjolie Torres, and Sam Rios. Seniors Danni Adams, Megan Hynson, Sarah Geho, and Ivelys Martinez all had hits for the Cougars as they won 18-6.



Delaware Military Academy had 14 hits in the game. Brooke Conaty, Rachel Savini, Lexy Johnson, and Clare Henry each collected multiple hits for DMA as they defeated the Lady Red Wolves of Conrad 11-2. Clare Henry and Ali Novotny each drove in two runs. Isabelle Troise had a double for Conrad.
Camryn Thompson and Jaylah Culver combined on the 15-0 shutout, allowing 5 hits and striking out 5. Ashlyn Stonebraker lead the Royals going 4-4 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Siera Jones and Camryn Thompson each had 3 hits, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Jordyn DiFava had 2 hits, an RBI and 3 runs scored.

R. Christopher, B. Stevenson, B. VanBusKirk, M. Masten and M. Isaacs each had a hit for Woodbridge.

It was an intense defensive battle between the Raiders and the Red Wolves today as they both fought in extra innings and the Lady Red Wolves won 4-3. Conrad was led by senior Isabelle Troise who had 3 hits including the bottom of the 9th walk off. Poore, Yeatman, C. Dodds, and Zwack each added a hit for Conrad. Concord was led by Kaitlyn Carter who went 4 for 5. Raab and Gordy also added multiple hits for Concord.



Tracy Pleasanton pitched a four hit shutout and helped her own cause going 2-2 with a double and walk to pace the Lady Wildcats over the Lady Senators of Dover 10-0. Hannah Davis had a multi-hit game and Jordan Moore and Paige Lynch each had 2 RBIs for Delmar. K. Quick, A. Carter, M. Torres, and A. Davis had the four hits for Dover.

In a Division I Girls Semi Final Round, 2 goals by Anne Brush paced the Lady Pandas of Padua to a 7-0 win over the Riders of CR.

In a Division II 2 goals by Macie Pennington paced the Lady Bucs of Caravel to a 3-0 win over the Lady Auks of Archmere.

2 goals by Allison Jablonski paced the Lady Raiders of Ursuline Academy to a 5-1 win over the Lady Wildcats of Delmar in another Divsion II quarter final game.

Bre Bryant hit a triple in the 4th to score 3 RBI's and Amanda Ladzonski went 2 for 3 with an RBI as the Lady Buccaneers of Caravel defeated the Lady Cavaliers of Middletown 9-5.
Melissa Jones was 2 for 4 and Jenna McDermott went 2 for 3 for Middletown.

Madison Hoffman had 2 hits for St. Georges. One a lead off home run in the 3rd to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Mackenzie Short settled in for Appoquimink allow only 1 hit after that and finsihed the day striking out 13 to earn the 2-1 win. Samantha Carbonara kept the Jaguar offense of balance all game matching Short pitch for pitch. Rachel Durhams 2 out double in the bottom of the forth drove home Brooke Miller to tie the game. In the 5th Tayler Vitola singled and latter scored on a sacrific fly off the bat of Mallory Weir.

This was a great defensive and well pitched game by BOTH teams as the Lady Seahawks of Delaware Military Academy defeated Padua 2-1.

Softball 5-27-17

Delani Sheehan throws a shutout to lead DMA to a 2-0 win over the Lady Ravens of Sussex Tech. Kayla Booros had 2 hits for Sussex Tech.


For the Division I Girls State Soccer Title, the Lady Cavaliers of Middletown High School on Alexa Rodriguez's 30 yard shot from the crossbar went into the net as they defeated the Lady Pandas of Padua 1-0.

For the Division II Girls Soccer State Title 2 goals by Macie Pennington paced the Lady Bucs of Caravel Academy to a 2-1 win over the Lady Hillers of Tower Hill School. The Hillers only goal was by Natalie Hobbs.
