Boys and Girls Basketball First Round 2-26-19

18 points by Blaec Sanders 10 by Victor Marcelo and and Eric Ludman paced the Spartans of St. Marks to a 44-32 win over the Middletown Cavaliers in overtime. Elijah Wilson led the Cavaliers of Middletown with 10 points.

26 by Devon Reynolds, 19 by Skylar Johnson, 15 points by Ricky Kane paced the Ravens of Sussex Tech to a 80-60 win over Milford. For the Bucs Daniel Shockley led with 19 points, Terrell Gibbs contributed with 12

Boys Blue Hen Conference Championship: The Hawks of St. Georges behind the 18 performance of Nah Shon Hyland as they defeated the Flight B Champions AI DuPont Tigers by a 44-40 score. For the Tigers they were led by Jamir Dantley with 18 points 11 by Rashawn George.

In overtime the Mount Pleasant Green Knights behind Samahj Gaymon's tip in at the buzzer and contributed with 11 points along with teammate Charlie Russell defeated the Woodbridge Blue Raiders by a 56-54 score. Fah Mir Ali led the Green Knights with 24 points. The Blue Raiders of Woodbridge were led by Troy Haines with 12 points.

20 points by Jaymeil Hollis paced the Vikings of Christiana to a 61-52 win over the Spartans of Lake Forest. Lake was led with 17 points by Jaysem Vasquez Kaheim Kimbrough Roach 13 and 10 by Jene Sample

In overtime for the Girls Blue Hen Conference Championship, the Howard Lady Wildcats in overtime behind Jaymail Hollis 17 points and 12 by Ronnasia Blatch Huggins defeated the Lady Hodgson Silver Eagles by a 56-52 overtime win. For the Hodgson Lady Silver Eagles was led by Kayla Braxton Young's 30 points


2-27-19 Games

Senior Kay Wulah led all scorers with 11 points, while sophomore Lauren Dorsey added 10 as 17th seed Ursuline Academy defeated 16th seed Delmarva Christian in the first round of the DIAA Girls State Basketball Tournament. The Raiders will face St. Elizabeth (#1) in the second round. Kandice Schlabach led Delmarva Christian with 7 points.

27 points by Reese Mullins, 12 points by Gracie Wenzel, 10 points by Kaitlin Smith paced the Lady Hillers of Tower Hill to a 54-46 win over the Lady Warriors of Wilmington Christian. The Lady Warriors were led by Janae Carter with 17, Symphonie DeLoatch with 15, Treasure Wright with 12. The Hillers will take on the Lady Bucs of Caravel on the road in Bear, DE on Friday, March 1st.

18 points by Ambria Stratton 12 by sister Raeonna Stratton paced the Lady Golden Knights of Sussex Central to a 42-39 win over the Lady Hornets of Tatnall. The Lady Hornets were led by Sophia Kirby with 12 points. The Lady Knights of Sussex Central will take on the Lady Blue Raiders of Woodbridge in Bridgeville, DE

11 points by Sierra Troyer paced the Lady Ravens of Sussex Tech to a 51-30 victory over the Lady Quakers of Friends. The Lady Ravens will play on the road at the Lady Silver Eagles of Hodgson.

25 points by Amber Washington paced the Lady Hawks of St. Georges to a 65-26 win over the Lady Spartans of Lake Forest. Jada Gourdine led the Lady Spartans with 14. The Lady Hawks of St. Georges will travel to Lewes, DE to play the Lady Vikings of Cape Henlopen.

8 points each by Madison Stewart and Isabella Gioffre paced the Lady Auks of Archmere to a 35-27 win over the Lady Green Knights of Mt. Pleasant. The Lady Auks will travel to Hockessin DE and will take on the Lady Warriors of Sanford #2nd seed.

21 points by Ronnasia Blatch Huggins 15 by NaLeigh Wright 10 by Jaymail Hollis paced the Lady Wildcats of Howard to a 69-30 win over Newark Charter School. The Lady Patriots were led by Amari Boddi with 11. The Lady Wildcats of Howard will take on the Lady Ravens of St. Thomas More.

All DIAA Girls Quarter final games will be on Friday, March 1st. Time for Tipoff is 7:00 pm

2-28-19 Boys

DIAA Second Round Report

The undefeated Dover Senators at 22-0 behind Elijah Allen 30 point performance 19 by Eden Davis, John Lassiter with 11 points as they defeated the Christiana Vikings by a 79-50 score. Dover will take on St. Marks in a quarter final game at Polytech in a Saturday, March 2 6 PM tipoff.

16 points by Jaden Corbett and Shaft Clark, 13 by Jayquan Eaton paced the Riders of Caesar Rodney to a 57-48 win over the Hillers of Tower Hill. James Allen led the Hillers with 15 points. The Riders will travel to Dover High and play the Hawks of St. Georges in a 6 PM Contest.

The Bucs of Caravel defeated the Green Knights of Mt. Pleasant 53-50 Caravel Kevin Keister 18 points, Justin Owens 16 points, Brandon Sengphachanh scored 11. Mount Pleasant got 16 points from Yshaad Butcher and 13 from Fah’Mir Ali. Caravel will take on Glasgow in a 1:00 pm game at Salesianum

Sanford defeated Appoquinimink 59-32 and Glasgow defeated William 56-51

3-1-19 Girls DIAA 2nd round

15 points by Arianna Henry 12 by Ber nyah Ward Mayo and 11 by Ashley Campbell paced the Lady Vikings of St. Elizabeth to a 51-38 win over the Lady Raiders of Ursuline Academy.

21 points by Sasha Marvel 14 by Miranda Perretta 11 by Kendra Warren paced the Lady Buccaneers of Caravel to a 78-36 win over the Lady Hillers of Tower Hill School. The Lady Hillers were led by Reese Mullins with 13 points and 12 by Caitlin Smith.

12 points by Mehkia Applewhite 10 by Abigail Hearn paced the Lady Vikings of Cape Henlopen to a 55-17 win over the Hawks of St. Georges.

17 by Lara Park Lane, 16 each by Amiya Carroll and Allie Kubek, 12 by Olivia Tucker paced the Lady Warriors of Sanford to a 75-34 win over the Lady Auks of Archmere.

20 points by Stefanie Kulesza, 13 points by Ja Nylah Whittlesay 12 by Jennifer Kulesza paced the Lady Redwolves of Conrad to a 60-26 win over the Lady Cougars of Delcastle. The Lady Cougars were led by Da Quira Lancaster Navarro with 13 points.

The Lady Raiders of Woodbridge advance to the Quarter Finals in the DIAA State Tournament for the 1st time in school history. Great team win!

  • Sophomore counterpart Janeira Scott tipped in with 15 points of her own and 10 assists.

Boys Second Round DIAA Wrap

3-2-19 22 points by Na Shon Hyland 10 by Tyreese Evans paced the St. Georges Hawks to a 58-41 win over the Riders of Caesar Rodney. The Riders were led by Shaft Clark with 13 and 11 by Jaden Corbett.

26 by Elijah Allen, Eden Davis 13 points paced the Dover Senators at 23-0 to a 57-47 win over the Spartans of St. Marks.

21 by Ber'Nyah Ward Mayo and 18 by Naia Pulliam paced the Lady Vikings of St. Elizabeth to a 57-33 win over the Lady Vikings of Cape Henlopen. The Lady Vikings of Cape was led by Mehkia Applewhite with 13.

18 points by Lauren Park Lane, 13 by Olivia Tucker and 12 by Allie Kubek paced the Lady Warriors of Sanford to a 64-20 win over the Lady Silver Eagles of Hodgson.

23 by Jennifer Kulesza, 13 points by Alyssa Faville and Stephanie Kulesza paced the Lady Red Wolves of Conrad to a 63-43 win over the Lady Wildcats of Howard. The Lady Cats were led by Na Leigha Wright with 14 and 11 by Ronnasia Blatch Huggins.

22 points by Nah Shon Hyland 10 by Tyrese Owens paced the Hawks of St. Georges to a 58-41 win over the Riders of Caesar Rodney.

26 points by Elijah Allen Dover 57 St. Marks 47

34 points by Jyare Davis and 10 by Corey Perkins paced the Warriors of Sanford to a 59-40 win over Salesianum.

20 points by Kevin Keister 16 points by Brandson Sengpachanch paced the Bucs of Caravel to a 59-55 win over the Glasgow Dragons. Mark Bradshaw led Glasgow with 19 points and David Nichols 17.

Girls Semi Final Round of the 2019 DIAA Basketball Tournament

17 by Lauren Park Lane, 13 by Olivia Tucker 12 points by Allie Kubek paced the Lady Warriors of Sanford to a 52-41 win over the Red Wolves of Conrad. Stephanie Kulesza led the Lady Red Wolves of Conrad with 19 points.

Caravel 67 St. Elizabeth 58 Sasha Marvel (18), Karli Cauley (16) and Kendra Warren (11) all finished in double figures for Caravel. Marvel went 12-for-12 from the foul line as the Bucs finished 27-of-33 on free throws.

Ber’Nyah Ward-Mayo had a game-high 21 points for St. Elizabeth (19-4) with Juliann McCarron adding 11.

Boys Semi Final Game Sanford defeated St. Georges 67-50. Jyare Davis led the Warriors of Sanford with 20 points.

Dover defeated Caravel 68-52 Dover Eden Davis 23 and Elijah Allen 21. John Lassiter 12.

The Lady Warriors of Sanford won their 5th Girls DIAA Girls Basketball State Title in their school history on Lauren Park Lane's game winning buzzer along with her contributions of 10 points defeated the Lady Bucs of Caravel by a 51-49 score. Olivia Tucker led the Lady Warriors with 16 points followed by Allie Kubek 15 points and 16 boards.


For the Boys 2019 DIAA State Basketball Title the Warriors of Sanford won their 9th Boys Overall Basketball title in school history as they defeated the previously undefeated Dover Senators 48-45. Jyare Davis led Sanford with 14 points and Corey Perkins with 10. Dover was led by Elijah Allen with 19 points, Eden Davis with 11 and Jyheim Spencer with 8.
