Hell of time to be apart of the DEPreps lax forum! As much as I hate the state of PA and its drivers, lets move on.

I listed the All State selections below
https://www.delawareonline.com/stor...ware-all-state-boys-lacrosse-team/1342783001/

Two questions:
(1) Any gripes with list? - My questions are how did neither the Sallie's FO guys and Cape's Goalie not land on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team?
(2) Any predictions for All Americans?

Attack – Mitch Moyer, sr., Archmere, Player of the Year
Attack – Luke D’Ambrogi, sr., Cape Henlopen
Attack – Tommy Bloom, sr., Sanford
Attack – Logan Falconetti, sr., Salesianum

Midfield – Cole Bauer, sr., Archmere
Midfield – Jack Dennis, sr., Cape Henlopen
Midfield – Logan Bushweller, sr., Salesianum
Midfield – Brad Santore, sr., Salesianum

Defense – Matt Prestipino, sr., Cape Henlopen
Defense – Cam Marion, jr., Salesianum
Defense – Colin Kennedy, jr., Salesianum
Defense – Nate Ruoss, jr., Tatnall

Goalkeeper – Cole Hiller, sr., Tatnall
Faceoff – Tim Lucky, so., Sanford
Defensive specialist – Chad Cannon, sr., Salesianum
Defensive specialist – Nicholas Redd, jr., Wilmington Friends

The sallies defense has no business being on that list. I’d easily take a CR defenseman or even a DMA defensemen over both of them. Just saying. Obvious favoritism.

D’ambrogi or Dennis should of won POY hands down.

D’ambrogi 5 goals 6 assists against S in two games
Dennis. 6 goals 2 assists against S in two games

Friends went 3-12, enough said.

I agree that it shouldn’t have been Moyer. I wouldn’t necessarily say D’Ambrogi or Dennis, but both are definitely amazing players

I think Moyer has 60+
They played 5 good teams out of 15 games, still 60 goals is still a great season. Just an upset imo. I give a little more credence to the kids who played a tough schedule. I know the players can only play the teams on schedule, just personal preference of mine.

Can’t disagree with that pick, obviously Friends would of been a lot more competitive. Impact player. McNeil and Pincus put up some points last year.

Like usual, a total popularity contest. ALOT of deserving an good kids left off the list. I'll leave it at that even though there is more to say.

Totally agree.

There are kids on that list that shouldn’t even be 3rd team. First team is pretty solid though at least maybe 2 D I would not have had.

2nd team and 3rd team are clearly who knows who. Some real deserving kids like McLeary but most are a joke. I usually don’t name kids but Pheasent 2nd team? That’s a travesty.

Did Tatnall play man against anyone, saw them twice packed into a zone... making first team D seems like a stretch.

Kennedy and the Cape kid are good to go, the others........

The entire 2nd team D other then McLeary is suspect.

Anyone catch who the All Americans were at the All State banquet tonight?

2019 All Americans
Mitch Moyer
Cole Bauer
Luke D'Ambrogi
Jack Dennis
Tommy Bloom
Logan Falconetti
Brad Santore
Cole Hiler

So a few things here:

The Prestipino kid from Cape was in my opinion far and away the best defenseman in the state. Kid locked up the best player in all 5 games of theirs that I watched. The Kennedy kid is a legit player too but the other poles from sallies are not all that.

Moyer is a great player who puts up numbers but he there are plenty of kids who put up huge numbers. That sophomore kid from Cape, the Gabe best kid, put up close to 70 goals this year I believe, but he didn’t even make the first team, so maybe a trueness leader on a winning team winning the POY? Could see Dennis, Falconetti, Dambrogi as winners of this award.

The goalie situation is a mess. Anyone who watched Capes goalie knows he’s by far the best goalie in the state. Tatnalls goalie gets easy shots from the zone they run and plays a lighter competition than capes goalie. He also did not lead, or greatly contribute to, his team winning a state championship. The cape goalie deserves First team without a doubt and him not being up there is a joke.

Let me know if you disagree with anything here but I really believe this is how it should be.

Good piece of analysis, I agree....like I said before, tough competition is the key, scoring goals against week teams doesn’t impress me. That being said, what is done is done

End of the day, all state (1st, 2nd, 3rd) should be 75% Cape/Sallies if we based it on pure talent. It’s obviously not. DE high school lacrosse is still growing and because of that the all state team is artificially comprised of a mix of schools and underserving players. Hopefully down the road school diversity on the list will come naturally as more programs will produce more quality players.

I would say 50% as you get some good players from the other privates (Archmere, Sanford, etc), CR, and Appo. But agree with the rest of your comments.

Honestly its not really rocket science - there maybe 50-60 HS kids in DE that play high level club ball (and I am being generous because 302 doesn't really equal that). Those kids all play for Sals, Cape, CR, Archmere, Tatnall, Sanford, etc. Most teams are lucky to have 1 or 2 of them so it shouldn't be a surprise that Sals, Cape, CR and a rotation of one other (TH, Friends, Archmere, etc) represent the final 4 every year.

Take Appo for instance - 1 kid that plays decent level club (defined as Out of State in MD/PA/NJ) and 4 others that play 302. Thats it. Think I saw the tweet that Cape had 18 302 players plus they have Saltwater kids, an Annapolis Hawk and a MD Roughrider. Surprised that Cape beat Appo by 15 goals? I am not its pretty clear why.

DE travel ball is subpar at best. That includes 302. No knock but best kids upstate go to with South PA or into Jersey. The NXT, Dukes, etc...Downstate goes into Maryland. Wolfpack, Hawks. Other teams from out of state make up rest. Twist, BBL, etc.
CR will be consistently good because of middle school programs down there and only CR as a choice for school. Cape has the feeders too. New Castle County is so watered down that they all leave for travel ball and what is left behind is decent players.

Camden youth lacrosse has had a rough time for about 7 years. The two CR middle schools are not very successful the last 4 years. I know the have good HS coaching but I have a hard time seeing them in the mix for this next cycle.

There can still be studs on bad teams. Most teams in Delaware will double or iso a kid out of game. Seen it for the last twenty years in Delaware. That’s why the Sallies,Cape kids look even better because there are more of them on a team so you can play defense like that against them.
I have a ton of respect for Healy and D’Ambrogi but would love to see how people treated them on teams other then their own. Would they just be considered another DE coach.

I really believe both these coaches would still be great coaches regardless of teams. Maybe their records wouldn’t show it for the first few years if you put them on a subpar team like Delmar but I believe they would consistently improve their team more than their current coaches do

See I don’t necessarily agree there. Delmar was a playoff team a few years back and beat Cape in season and stunned Archmere in playoff with that zone. I think when teams have the stallions they can compete. Unfortunately many teams don’t have stallions they have one horse.

Having seen Trader incredible athlete and good lacrosse player but not great.

Still should have been High level all state regardless of team record

Might be a good time to catch up on some current events Leverage... Camden U14 were in the mix in the ESYLA , dropped close games to both finals teams. U12 won the league over Atlantic. Maybe youth lacrosse is getting some traction again in CR country.

Fifer was average this year, usually pretty good.

Fifer was 0-8 and got shut out by smyrna. Keep telling yourself its all ok lol.

Look we all know Smyrna is up and coming but don’t fool yourself if you think they will ever be at CR’s or Capes level. Yes they have a solid youth program that gets destroyed by the northern youth. They will have a year or two when they make tourney appearances but will never be consistent.

Jeez. So angry. Are you one of those people who get upset when facts disrupt your personal narratives, which were developed on emotional responses. Just asking lol

Geez if that’s what angry sounds like I’m glad I walked away from coaching. So you did not like my facts about Smyrna lacrosse? I can give facts about lacrosse in this states for the past 30 years. Watched it grow, watched new teams come along. But still same DE lacrosse.

A fact is fifer was 0-8. Your opinion based on feelings is smyrna will never be consistent in the future. I'm guessing you were a gym teacher. Hopefully.....
