Iowa Claims Wrestler of the Week Honor

Hawkeyes’ DeSanto earns Wrestler of the Week plaudit after defeating top-ranked Seth Gross to lead Iowa past No. 6 Wisconsin in Big Ten opener

Austin DeSanto, Iowa

133 pounds – Jr. – Exeter, Pa. – Exeter - Sports & Recreation Management

• Defeated No. 1 Seth Gross by a 6-2 decision to lead the Hawkeyes past No. 6 Wisconsin in their conference season opener
• Prevailed behind the strength of three takedowns, one in the first period and two more in the second
• Handed Gross his first NCAA loss at 133 pounds since the 2017 NCAA finals
• Earns the second Wrestler of the Week Award of his career and first since Jan. 22, 2019
• Last Iowa Wrestler of the Week: Pat Lugo (Feb. 26, 2019)
