WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel won two of its three dual meets at the Green Terror Duals in non-conference wrestling action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (2-1) dropped a 41-10 decision to Scranton to open the day before defeating UMBC 45-6 and Penn State Mont Alto, 51-0.
Alvontae Drummond (Lincoln, Del./Milford) led McDaniel with three pins on the day – all in the first period.
Trailing 12-0 against the Royals recorded pins at both 125 and 133, Drummond notched a 1-minute, 12-second fall at 141.
Clint Wright (Glenville, Pa./South Western) closed the score to 12-10 with a 12-3 victory at 141 but Scranton reeled off six straight wins to close the match.
An Ian Evans third-period technical fall and Andrew Gombus 2-mintue, 22-second fall started the run before Kevin Merle secured the match with a first-period pin at 184.
Against the Retrievers, Charles Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) took a forfeit at 125 before Sharad Samir took an 11-9 decision in sudden victory to cut the deficit to 6-3.
A Drummond 1-minute, 2-second pin and Wright forfeit win stretched the lead to 18-3.
Cole Nagle (Highland Lakes, N.J./Vernon Twp.) and Luke Crowe (Baltimore, Md./Dundalk) each recorded first period pins at 157 and 165, respectively, before Ronnie Wuest (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) secured the match with a 4-0 win at 174.
Jake Pooton (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) won by forfeit at 197 and Billy Emerson (Germantown, Md./Watkins Mill) recorded a pin in 6:44 to round out the match.
Against the Lions, all 10 Green Terror wrestlers won their bouts. Liam St. John (Baltimore, Md./Dundalk) led the way with a 36-second pin while Drummond (2:55), Crowe (1:21), Marvin McKinney (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) (1:01) and Emerson (4:18) all also won by fall.
McDaniel returns to action at the Petrofes Invitational hosted by Messiah on Dec. 2-3. Action begins at 12 p.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
