DIAA needs to make changes to playoff game rules! Two games were called final because of rain today that did not go the full 7 innings.
And the chance that CR & Hodgson would have come back to win in there games was slim to to none! But they both deserve opportunity
to play the game out! Just this past Saturday AI came from behind in the bottom of the 7th to win 4-3. Yes understand that score was closer
3 to 1. The only way that playoff game should end after 5 is the mercy rule! Just FYI the mercy rule is not in effect in the Championship Game!
So if you ability to tweak rules for the Chamionship game, maybe they should tweak them for tournament games as well.

A. A player may not pitch in more than 16 innings in any seven calendar day period. Delivery of one pitch constitutes having pitched in an inning.
B. If a player pitches in three innings or less in a day, no rest is required before he/she pitches again.
C. If a player pitches in four, five, or six innings in a day, he/she must have two calendar days of rest.
D. If a player pitches in seven or more innings in a day, he/she must have three calendar days of rest.
E. This regulation is in effect for both regularly scheduled tournament games and games that were postponed or suspended for any reason. It also applies to any playoff games that are under the jurisdiction of the Committee.
So, it sounds like Archmere pitcher could not pitch Wednesday, but Dover pitcher could.
Also, about the schedule (also from DIAA site), the games will be played Thursday, as scheduled, assuming the quarterfinal games are completed Wednesday. It's not clear what will happen if quarterfinal games carry over to Thursday (more rain expected Wed and Thur). It appears everything would get bumped a day, making semifinals Friday. Finals Saturday or Sunday, anyone know?

Of course it's unlikely that either team came back, but the point is that if it was 4-3 after 5 then the game is called too. Need to adjust that rule. It's single elimination with a day off in b/w the games. Plenty of time to finish these games.
Seems like too easy a solution to just pick it up where it left off this afternoon. Too late for this season, but hopefully someone looks into addressing this in the offseason. This, the number of games in the season should be more and the tournament field should be 24. 3 changes that would dramatically improve the baseball season, and take very little extra effort from anyone.

One more vote in favor of playing the full 7 innings. Single elimination is tough enough without shortening the games. The short games also give the winning team an advantage with pitcher innings.
One more idea... could DIAA have the UD field available in case of bad weather? You can play in light rain, and more importantly, you can play immediately after a downpour. No lights there, but still a better option than most fields. And it wouldn't hurt to make it easy for the UD coaches to see some of Delaware's top players.

You can't stop a single elimination playoff game in the 5th inning. That's ridiculous. These kids play their whole season to make the playoffs and you don't even get to finish the one game? You only get one chance at playing HS baseball. Finish the game!
