FNL Scores.. I don't know what week it is

That is a false statement.. Many states best programs are private schools.. CA,OH,MD,PA,NY,FL,KY,AZ,NV,UT,LA,SC,NC etc.....and kids come in from other states as well as across the country and over seas

Didn't Middletown just have transfers from PA and MD? yeah they did.. it was allowed.. The last time I checked Middletown was not a private school.
Missing piont.. And all the States you mentioned. Do not allow Private and Public Schools play against each other in Playoffs either. Think you better Google the facts..smh. Only Delaware allows Private Schools to do that..smh..

So what are you saying? out of state players are better than in state? They aren't recruiting from California or Ohio like IMG They are restricted to an area where kids can actually get to school in a reasonable amount of time like every school in DE They are located in a 30 mile radius of three states so they pull from them.. Are you telling me a kid from Exton PA or Elkton Md is a better player than one from Newark DE?
What???.. Name a Public School in Delaware that is pulling from another State in 30 mile Radius.. Iam waiting?? Because not happen.. That's why other States is not allowing Private schools and Public Schools play each other for State Championships.. Forgot we in DE.. People lost behind time in Sports.. Prime example.. Ursline recruited Banks and Taylor to play at Ursline.. They both from P.A. Do think Dover would of have a chance.. Hell No because they is out 30 me raduis.. You only get away with that in DE.. 💯 facts..

So I will take a different approach on this. A public school will always be looking up. Sallies will only get bigger and better. The coaches and administration is in place and willing to invest. I think we can all agree on that.

So now the other view. Build a sustainable program. Invest in your program and players. That does not mean financially. Be there for them, keep communication open. Keep the gyms open, build a weight program, get in real trainers - not leg tappers. Strength and conditioning - all sports. Build it and be consistent.
What that means to a 13-14-15-16-year-old, is that they care. In turn they want to beat the Sals. They focus on that. Playing in front of 3500 in the big game, proving they are just as good if not better. WE all love the underdog story. People hop on this and want to be a part of that. Beating big brother is fulfilling. Having the goal to beat the big bad team is something you can rally your players to. Invest, be consistent, and don't give up after 2 years and change coaches. it can and will happen.
WIll the Sals be bigger and better, sure... However, you only have to beat them once. It's a goal, it's a focus. Embrace it.

It may sound corny and a pipe dream, but it beats the crap out of complaining!
"WIll the Sals be bigger and better, sure... However, you only have to beat them once."

Maybe twice because in this kissing your sister state tourney setup any team might have to play an opponent twice.

DELHS CP WEEK 8

Yeah, the breakdowns were something I enjoyed doing. I tried bringing them back one year and just couldn’t keep up with it. I started them back when I was in high school and then it carried to college. Once I finished college I just didn’t have time.

As regard to tonight’s game, it’s hard to say. Sallies has been steam rolling oppositions since last season and they bring a great nucleus back from that team with some added talent. Their defense is playing so lights out it reminds me of the 2021 Cavs dlineman with Durojaye, Miller-Harris and Derek Burke. Those 3 were able to rush the passer every game and would always get home. Sallies Johnson and mcneil are a force and beat their 1 on 1s fairly easily. Linebacker LJ smith is in my mind probably the best line backer in the state of Delaware. I think the sals offense is a bit underrated because so much focus is on the defense. McBride, Lego, Gaymon are 3 top tier talents. McBride has made HUGE strides since last season after being benched in both Middletown games.

Middletown however, starting a first year starter at QB who I believe sometimes tries to do too much with his legs when he just needs to get rid of the ball. A habit that most high school quarterbacks have. The 3 headed backfield in Glover, Walker, and Miller are in my head the best backfield in the state of Delaware so it will be strength against strength with them going against the sals front 7. The wide receiver units are top 3 in the state with Garrett, Parker, and Pope so it will be interesting how they compete with sallies secondary. The cavs defense is good but it’s had it flaws. The central game showed that and exposed it.

My heart wants to pick the Cavs but the Sals are just too good. Until I see someone score on the sallies defense it’s hard to pick against them. I could see an upset, however I won’t pick one. If you asked me personally I think it comes to what coach out coaches the other in the scheme of things.
Good Stuff!

2A Top Teams Over Last Five Years…

For some regulars, it had to hurt pretty bad when AA won in 2021 and WFS in 2022 as these are the two schools that put out a quality product each year and also have seriously high academics. Academics is the one thing missing from this discussion on top teams.

This is what has surprised me the most out of my research. I understand Archmere and Friends to be highly academic schools where sports are secondary. And maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think these schools have students who attend these schools on athletic scholarships? And kids aren’t transferring in for sports?

The fact that they can sustain athletic excellence in todays climate of “scholarship kids” without playing that game while remaining “academics first” institutions is seriously impressive.

2A Top Teams Over Last Five Years…

Every school in Delaware is a school choice except for a few in certain districts that are full. It's a tired argument... You being new and all missed the era when school choice and bussing was enacted missed the days when Newark High School dominated in the 90's when all the player from Wilmington and wherever choiced and bussed there. In those day the only private school that was good was Sallies and maybe St Marks..due to numbers but all the other private schools sucked because they were rich kids and the Tech Schools were for other kids who didn't play sports but wanted to be refrigerator repairmen or auto mechanics .. The scholarship chasing was never thing back then it was a back up plan if the sports thing didnt pay out

I can understand all of this! I guess what I don’t really understand is I’m not making any argument or statement. So when you say it’s a “tired argument”, not really sure what you’re referencing.

What I find so odd in DE is that private/catholic/independent schools are in the same conferences with public schools. Frankly, it seems like an unfair equation…especially in 2024 when it seems pretty clear that private/catholic/independent schools have more resources.

Separate leagues would give public schools that might have been traditionally strong in past years an opportunity to compete against other similar teams with similar resources.

But the way it sits now, it seems to me that at least in 2A, private/catholic/independent schools have an advantage and their records show.

FNL Scores.. I don't know what week it is

Someone please define the word “recruit” when it comes to Salesianum with either sports, academics, or anything else for that matter. To those that simply don’t like the school or program, it comes across as a “pay to play” accusation. When it really has to do with parents (and students) who want a quality education, competitive sports programs and faith based environment. Compared to other private all boys schools in the vicinity (ie Malven Prep) it’s half the cost. If a parent can afford the tuition, make sacrifices, get financial aid to send their son to that school, why the hate? To me it’s “sour grapes”
Sour grape or sallies dislike is fine to call out, but also as a Sallies supporter which its seems you are to say there is not recruiting happening is silly. Recruiting defined as: Come take a private tour of our school coach led etc. Sallies is not the only one doing this.

To answer your question. Anytime a player transfers there will be people saying they were recruited regardless of knowing nothing or anything about the situation.. Is what is is.. Haters gonna hate.. don't sweat it

All schools besides maybe charter have lowered academic standards.

People freaking out about sallies is hilarious. They won a championship last year for the 1st time in awhile. Good chance they win it this year as well.

Private schools rely on tuition and alumni donations to survive. None of that comes if you suck at sports unless you are Georgetown Prep or some high profile academic and politically connected school. It is smart business to invest in your sports programs as that attracts booster money and students.. Is what is. In a lot of ways private schools operate like a private university. In all honesty if my kid was coming in now I would send him to Sallies or Caravel but Sallies if D1 college offers was a major goal.

Really we are talking about Parochial Schools not necessarily private .. they are the ones who have taken the enrollment hit the last two decades and had to make changes..
