On a brisk, cloudy afternoon, the visiting Tatnall Hornets prevailed 52-0 over the hosting Charter School of Wilmington.

Offensively, the Hornets totaled over 400 yards of offense, rushing for 312 yards on the ground and throwing for 131 in the air. Rahshan LaMons continued his outstanding senior season, completing 4 of 8 passes for 131 yards, 3 touchdowns, and one interception. LaMons also rushed for 193 yards on 13 carries (1 touchdown), while also scoring on a 60-yard punt return. RJ Moore churned out 79 yards (1 touchdown) on 11 carries and Gino Greer scored on a 20-yard touchdown run. Jude Maycole caught one pass for 60 yards and a touchdown. Jayden Minor caught two passes for 51 yards and a score. Micah Stamper caught a 20-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. The Hornet's offense set a physical tone throughout the game, combining for twenty pancake blocks and not allowing a sack on the day.

On defense, the Swarm were led by junior outside linebacker Jack Homer who totaled 14 tackles (6 solo), 5.0 sacks, 5.5 tackles for a loss, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Josh Boothe recorded two total tackles including a tackle for a loss and pairing with Ben Marvin on a forced intentional grounding. Justin Smith recorded six tackles (4 solo) and a tackle for a loss. James Saintfleur recorded three tackles, 0.5 tackles for a loss, 0.5 sacks, and returned a fumble sixteen yards for a score as time expired.

On special teams, kicker Spencer Neidig was 4-for-4 on extra point attempts and averaged 41.3 yards on eight kickoff attempts. Neidig also tallied two tackles on special teams. Trevor Kimaiga, Danny Henley, and Ekene Chukwunenye all recorded solo tackles on kickoff coverage.

Howard has a successful senior night with QB RJ Matthews completing 22-34 passes for 434yds and 7 TD's. Jamal Johnson led the receivers with 11 catches for 236 yards and 5 TD's and Robert Kelly had 8 catches for 176yds and 1 TD. Robert also returned a kickoff 85yds for another score.
The offensive line received the honorary game ball for not allowing a sack the entire game.

Honestly, Marcus Freeman might not be ready for this level of expectation. Jack Swarbick and incoming AD should seriously consider Urban Meyer. Yes, he is flawed but he is a winner and in my memory has had no NCAA violations. My sense is that Arkansas or Michigan State will take a run at Meyer as well as maybe Texas A & M. NBC should bring some heat as they are paying the Irish a nice chunk of change to watch them yo yo through a season. OK, Father Jenkins, let's call in the big hitters.

Delaware High School Football News for 10-27-23

Tatnall 41 St. Elizabeth's 6
The visiting Tatnall Hornets ran off their seventh straight win on Thursday night over host St. Elizabeth at Abessinio Stadium on a warm October night.

On offense, the Swarm were led by a strong rushing attack, led by Rahshan LaMons who rushed for 2 touchdowns and 228 yards on 10 carries. RJ Moore contributed 100 rushing yards on 8 carries. Micah Stamper contributed 2 touchdowns on 32 yards (3 carries).

Defensively, Tatnall saw strong defensive performances from Ben Nerlinger (10 total tackles), Justin Smith (8 total tackles), Jack Homer (7 total tackles), and Ben Marvin (7 total tackles). The Hornets also benefitted from two defensive scores: Micah Stamper forced and recovered a fumble which he returned for a 25-yard touchdown on the first defensive play of the game and Rahshan LaMons returned an intercepted pass 59 yards for a score in the third quarter.

On special teams, Spencer Neidig went 1 for 2 on extra-point attempts and averaged 37 yards on 7 kickoff attempts.

Delaware Military Academy 28 Newark 14 DMA QB Odell Teel threw 2 touchdowns and ran for another including a 7yd TD to Josh Roy and a 95 yd TD to Malcolm Roy right before halftime. Seahawks running back Ed Emmens scored on a 30 yard run on DMA's opening drive. Newark's QB Makevis Rogers threw a touchdown and ran for another for the Yellowjackets.

The Tatnall Hornets kicked off their homecoming celebrations with a 55-0 victory over visiting A.I. duPont on a windy day at Weymouth Field.

Offensively, the Swarm distributed the wealth as Tatnall saw six different players score offensive touchdowns. Rahshan LaMons opened the scoring with a 24-yard touchdown scamper. LaMons also connected on 3 of 4 passing for 83 yards with touchdown strikes to Chris Gordon (52 yards) and CJ Bowen (19 yards). Micah Stamper rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on 2 carries. Gino Greer rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown on 4 carries. Billy Lang rushed for 40 yards on 6 carries. James Saintfleur scored the first touchdown of his career on 4 rushes for 15 yards.

On defense, the Hornets were once again led by a strong effort by their front seven, holding duPont to -8 total yards of offense on the day. Jack Homer led the team with 8 tackles (4 TFL) and scored on a 51-yard interception return to close out the first half. James Saintfleur accounted for 5 tackles (0.5 TFL) and deflected a pass. The trio of Josh Boothe, Justin Smith, and Destyn Hoggard accounted for 7 tackles (2 TFL) while rotating at the defensive end positions. Danny Henley and Owen Mrozinski combined for 6 tackles (3.5 TFL) on the interior line. Ekene Chukwunenye accounted for 3 tackles (2.5 TFL) and a sack. Senior Malcolm Roy had a 9yd reception from junior Ethan Brantley and an 86yd fumble return for a touchdown. Saalem Frink had a 67yd touchdown run and a 62 yd fumble recovery for a touchdown. Senior LB Jordan Holden blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone.
