Delaware High School Football Wrap for 11-18-23

Archmere 35 Red Lion 16
Highlights:
Brendan Burke had 105 yards rushing and 2 TDs on 16 carries. He also had 22 yards receiving and blocked a punt.
Ryan Hagenberg had 41 yards rushing and 2 TDs. He also had 28 yards receiving and a sack on defense.
Miles Kempski was 5-5 passing for 120 yards and 1 TD. He rushined for 49 yards.
Gavin Lee had 71 yards receiving and a TD.
PJ Blessington had 9 tackles and a sack.
Christian Wittmeyer had 4 tackles and a sack.

RLCA:

Evan Budinger: 173 yards passing, 1 passing TD (10).

Jacque Wilson: 14 total tackles.

Shane Caleb: 5 tackles and a sack.


Middletown 28 Hodgson 7 MHS: Austin Troyer 2 touchdown runs of 2 and 18 yards. Makai Walker 2 touchdown runs of 8 and 11 yards.

Howard 30 Wilmington Friends 28
Howard advanced to the semifinals with a solid performance on both offense and defense. RJ Matthews rushed for 45yds and 4 TD's to lead the Wildcats. Jamal Johnson, Robert Kelly, and Dreshawn Anderson all made clutch catches throughout the game. The OL was stellar in allowing the Wildcats to rush for 202yds on 29 attempts.

Ryan Tattersall had 24 rushing yards on 5 carries, had 2 receptions for 39 yards, and went 8/15 for 81 passing yards, throwing for 2 TDs. Andrew McKenzie went 4/4 for 62 passing yards, had 5 receptions for 44 yards, receiving for a TD, and had 127 rushing yards on 24 carries, rushing for 2 TDs. Jason Hughes had 3 rushing yards on 1 carry and had 3 receptions for 36 yards, receiving for a TD. Kato Connor went 2/2 on PATs. Tyler Maheshwari 11 tackles (5 solo) and a fumble recovery. Myles Johnson had 10 tackles (3 solo). Both Drew Huneycutt and Antonios Tangalidis had 6 tackles.

Dylan Grise 5-14 passing 105 yards (1 Pass TD, 1 rush TD)
Darnell Stokes 4 rec. 101yds 1 TD

Salesianum 41 Smyrna 40 BJ Alleyne: 34 carries 200 yds. 5 TD. 1 reception 34 yards. Scores the winning touchdown for the Sals.

Tatnall School 53 First State Military Academy 0
The Tatnall Hornets set a new school record for wins in a single season (10), rushing to a resounding 53-0 victory over visiting First State Military Academy.

Offensively, the Swarm erupted for their highest yardage output of the season (503) on the backs of Rahshan LaMons (6 carries, 204 yards, 3 touchdowns) and RJ Moore (4 carries, 102 yards, 1 touchdown). Micah Stamper also contributed a pair of rushes for 50 yards and a touchdown. Through the air, LaMons spun a perfect 4-for-4 passing for 125 yards with three touchdown strikes. Jayden Minor caught two passes for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jude Maycole caught a 13-yard touchdown pass and Chris Gordon moved the chains on a third-down, 14-yard reception in the second quarter.

Defensively, the Hornets had a trio of defenders total double-digit tackles. Jayden Minor (10 tackles, 0.5 TFL), Justin Smith (12 tackles, 2.0 TFL), and Josh Boothe (10 tackles, 1.5 TFL) set the tone in the trenches. Jack Homer (8 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 1 pass deflection) and Gino Greer (4 tackles, 1 interception) also stepped up to preserve the Hornets' shutout in the second half.

On special teams, kicker Spenser Neidig converted on 5-of-7 extra point attempts. CJ Bowen and Danny Henley both notched a pair of tackles on kickoff coverage and Billy Lang and Gino Greer combined to recover an expertly placed pooch kick in the first quarter.

Sussex Central 28 Appoquinimink 7 Will Harmon scored 2 touchdown runs of 3 and 4 yards and caught an and caught an 11 yard pass from Gabe Cannon.

Woodbridge 14 Laurel 7 Traci Johnson 2 touchdown runs of 2 and 32 yards for WB.

Highlights:

Miles Kempski passed for 100 yards and a TD and ran for 71 yards on 7 carries for another TD.
PJ Blessington had 56 yards on 12 carries for a TD and had 68 yards receiving for another TD. He also had 9 tackles on defense.
Brendan Burke had 89 yards on 7 carries and scored a TD. He had 5 tackles on defense.
Ryan Hagenberg had 35 yards rushing, 29 yards receiving and 68 yards as a returner.
Drew Duncan and Jack Bradley both had interceptions on defense. Jack Bradley was also a perfect 6/6 on PATs.
Christian Wittmeyer had 9 tackles on defense.
Noah Blessington had a sack.

Howard posted its 1st shutout of the season to finish the regular season 7-3. The offense was led by RJ Matthews and Jamal Johnson through the air and Sebastian Smith had a tough 89yds on 19 carries on the ground. Freshman Suhayl Benson recorded an interception on defense.

RJ was 21-33 for 350yds and 5TD's breaking the state record for most touchdown passes in a season. He currently has 37. The record was 36 by Nolan Henderson from Smyrna.

Jamal broke two records. He now has 1,380 yards breaking the record of hris Godwin who had 1,269yds. Jamal now has 21 receiving touchdowns, breaking the record of 18 by Mahki Jackson of Smyrna.

Woodbridge 34 Delmar 6 WB: Traci Johnson touchdown runs of 2 yard each and 1 of 29 yards

Patriots Football (not New England)

I just saw on the interweb that Newark Charter will now be fielding a football team. Going to do more damage to the teams from Christina and Red Clay Districts. Maybe this is where Billy D or Mikey Ryan get back into the head coaching ranks. Maybe Zeb Blum? The school is K-12, so possibly youth football to feed right into the high school system. Will the adjacent neighborhood let them play FNL?
