Duron Harmon

The Raiders released Abrams a 2019 27th pick in the 1st round, according to Raider Nation one reason is:

Maybe Raider Nation slept on Duron Harmon when he was acquired in the offseason, but he’s surpassed expectations. Harmon, who is nearly 32 years old, has been an asset for Graham, especially in coverage. His two interceptions in 2022 have been highlight reel-worthy plays due to their timing. When the Raiders’ defense has needed a play, Harmon has been there to answer the call. While Harmon isn’t a long-term answer due to his age, the fact that he’s outperformed a former first-round pick tells you all you need to know about Abram.

Sals & the old Henlopen North

It is worth noting that the old Henny North has some nice football teams. Yes, Sussex Tech has moved to AA but in a real sense they have been replaced by the Sals. So, let’s look at this construct and how the current standings look as we move through the last 2 weeks….

1. Smyrna 4-0 (Cape, next week)
2. Sussex Central 3-1 (CR, next week)
3. Dover 3-1 (Sals, this week)
4. Salesianum 2-2 (Dover, this week)
5. Cape 1-3 (Smyrna, next week)
6, CR 0-4 (Sussex Central, next week)

It looks like the Sals may be trending to become the 4th best team in Henlopen North. Who da thunk it? What does it mean? Tomorrow’s game with Dover is compelling. If I am misguided, please help me out on this one.

POY Frontrunners

John Clemmons Caravel - 3 level scorer that will have many big games. A miss match for opponents, 6'5" G with very accurate 3pt shooting, a willing driver that also plays above the rim. Was pretty good as a Jr but is significantly better now.

Dean Shepherd Tower Hill - Will be counted on for major scoring outputs but is quite possibly an even better defender. If there were a Defensive player of the year award, he'd be at top of that list too. 6'3" G that has changed his body, his mentality and added better outside shooting.

Jaheim Harrell Dover - He's been a big-time player his whole career, 2x 2nd Team All State, and arguably should had been 1st team at least one of those times. Plays at an intensity level that very few can reach. Impacts the game on both ends of the floor. Plays above the rim and lights it up from 3pt range.

There are definitely other players to consider, especially the known names at Salesianum, Middletown and Seaford. All 3 teams are what most would consider loaded, so the sharing of the ball that will be needed for the teams to be successful/reach their goals will likely affect their individual outputs.

Early look at 2023 realignment of the realignment

Let's start with 3A

Changes.

3A to 12 teams- 6 div 1, 6 div 2

In order to determine which team from 2A will move up to 3A the following steps will be taken

1. District 2A schools will be contacted to see if any team is interested in voluntarily moving up. The interested team will need to complete the application for reclassification

2. If no team is interested in voluntarily moving up, we would use data from the first two seasons of the current re-alignment (combining enrollment and record over the two year period) to identify potential teams for moving up. The proposed formula would be 50% enrollment and 50% record.

3. Once teams are identified, a final team will be selected to move up.

4. No team who is the bottom half of enrollment amongst the 46 teams would be forced to move up (AKA Howard rule). They may however apply to move.

Since DMA has stated publicly they don't intend to ask to move up let's assume there are no more volunteers.

List of possible 2A candidates based on rule 4 and 2020 enrollment

St Marks (600) and Howard (875) will be close to the over/under top half in enrollment so if either of them eclipse that they will probably be the choice. If not then these schools will be in play

These are the 2A teams that would have been above cut (23) based on 2020 enrollment

10 Delcastle (1578)
12 Tech (1239)
14 Milford (1122)
17 Mt Pleasant (1078)
18 Newark (1069)
19 Concord (1052)
21 Brandywine (940)
22 McKean (911)

the cut- 23 897 (Seaford)

24 Howard (875)
25 Lake (814)

36 St Marks (600) I believe they have more now might be close to 900
