OK, proud. I think SC comes North and shocks the Sals in 3 days. That doesn’t have anything to do with cheerleaders. It’s about Coach Wells and how he uses his talent. The Sals are averaging over 100 yards of penalties. According to an old friend, this is the most undisciplined Sals FB team of all time.
The Henlopen North (home of the CR soccer state champions) is the real deal.

In a battle of Delaware High School football powers the Cavaliers of Middletown defeated the Sals of Salesianum for the 3AA DIAA State Football Title by a 30-27 overtime win. Cavaliers quarterback Derian Cunningham threw 3 touchdown passes to Darius Pope for 25 yards, 9 yards to BJ Garrett and the game winner to Darius Pope for 10 yards.

(From 2023) Heading into the playoffs, I thought it might be fun looking at who has been the top 2A teams over the past five seasons.

My calculations started with the entire 2019 season and am updating it with each round of the playoffs.

I used all of the schools websites (which I believe are self reporting) to get my information. I included St Marks record for their last four years in 2A.

I am not sure these are surprising results, but I did find it interesting and fun to calculate.

What are your take-aways?

If anything I am surprised that highly academic schools like Archmere and Friends have been so dominant. Even Tower Hill is very respectable. Is that the norm for Delaware?

Something else that jumps out at me it’s that schools of choice seem to have a clear advantage over the past five years. The only traditional public school on this list is Woodbridge. Has there ever been any thought to creating private and public conferences like they do in Pennsylvania?

That’s pretty surprising to me! During Archmere’s 21 season, they played 6 of the 7 teams resulting in 8 wins 0 losses. During the 22 season, Friends played 5 of the 7 teams with 5 wins and 0 losses. I didn’t realize Archmere played that many more “quality games” than everyone else and still has the highest winning percentage by a lot.

The Auks of Archmere brooks a 7-7 tie as they scored 13 points in the third quarter to defeat Friends 20-14 Christian Whitmeyer scored on a rushed for 90 yards along with a 14 yard touchdown. The other touchdown came as QB John Orsini threw for 143 yards connected to Michael Donovan for 28 yards.

Howard 44 Tower Hill 0 The Wildcats finished the regular season on a 7 game win streak going into the playoffs. The offense was led by Amir Maddrey who rushed 13 times for 206 yards and 4 touchdowns. Amir has passed the 1,000yd mark for the season. The offensive line paved the way for 418 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns. Jameson rushed for 75 yards and a 2pt conversion. Isaiah Harrison rushed for 71 yards and a TD and caught a 2pt conversion. Xavier Grier rushed for 64 yards also.


Mink Handy and Robert Weightman connected on their first TD's as Howard Wildcats.


The defense posted their 4th shutout of the season and only allowed 67yards total and intercepting 3 passes. Freshman, Derrick Smith, Sophopmore, Suhahl Benson, and Senior, Na'im Pryor all had interceptions.

Anybody have an idea of what the brackets will look like? I'm no good at figuring that out.
