302 Blue-Gold

have to twitter i guess

Chad Jones throws 55 yards for TD to AI du Pont teammate LeRoy Lynch and Blue leads Gold 6-0.

Jamon Kane of Woodbridge 11-yard TD run. Patrick Tkach of Cape Henlopen kicks PAT. Gold 7, Blue 6 13:51 2Q

Zion Carr of Brandywine returns interception 100 yards for TD, his second pick of the night. 2-pt pass fails. Blue 18, Gold 7

This is one of the things I love about Blue Gold.. A player buried in obscurity at a school like Brandywine steps on the big stage and shows out.. well done Mr Carr

Quentin McAbee of Wilmington Friends returns interception 70 yards for TD. Blue 24, Gold 7, 35.3 seconds 2Q

then

Gabe Wescott of Woodbridge returns ensuing kickoff 72 yards for TD. 2-pt run fails. Blue 24, Gold 13 22.8 seconds 2Q

302sports are you kidding me? c'mon

A shame for 302. Construction has fallen WAY behind. Gonna cause a lot of issues come September.

well someone from 302 should post on the youtube site that they cant broadcast to the folks on there waiting so they can move on..

Saw some pictures on twitter of crowd.. Crowd only on one side (home side closed) and its very sparse..Thats disappointing as the the crowd has been shrinking drastically the last few years.. Although I am sure the Friday night BG game has allot to do with this... Its why I didn't go. It's kinda of a shame because the boys who are't going on to play in college didnt get a last hurrah in the stadium with a good crowd because of the renovations. Is what it is I guess.

Its the modern parent.. They aren't interested unless their kid is playing and they only root for their kid... So the only people going is the parents of the kids playing and some BG allumni

Gabe Wescott of Woodbridge 24 pass from Drew Fry of Middletown. Kick fails. Blue 24, Gold 19, 6:13 3Q

Te’Shawn Dennard of Delmar 1-yard run. Pass fails. Gold 25, Blue 24 19 seconds 3Q

Gold’s defense forces a 4th & 56 to force a Blue punt with under 8 minutes

Brian Benson of St. Georges 2-yard run. 2-pt run fails. Gold 31, Blue 24 6:48 left

Milford’s Rahshawn Price with a 16-yard TD run for Gold. 38-24

DFRC Blue-Gold final: Gold 38, Blue 24. That’s three years in a row for Gold

In my opinion defense is better in the South lately.. It's shown in state championships and Blue Gold lately

Wow - 31 unanswered points by the Gold!

Coaching in the North has been suspect to say the least the last few years... choosing old has beens lol of course the game is not about wins or losses its about the cause just saying but I wasn't just talking about Blue Gold the defenses in the south are better than the north.. Sans Sallies or MT but MT plays for Gold

Its true too.. Woodbridge, Delmar and Central have all won by superior defenses topping equal or better offenses . Smyrna just had had a superior offense but the defense was good as well not great but good enough during their run. Even HVT and Howard won with good O players but their D's dominated in D1 Penn won on D and Sals on D and even the MT teams with Wade and Godwin had very good D's.. Pont being D is getting week in the north these days

Downstate has talent!!!! Lol less resources but we have talent. A state as a whole, we need to get our athletes more exposure! DE can compete against the best of the best, trust me, I’ve been traveling with NorthEastElite 7on 7 program and we have some ballers in DE (((BUT))) we have to make it a priority to get our athletes in combines, showcases and in front of college coaches!!! NETWORK NETWORK NETWORK!!!! Coaches won’t know if they don’t see and it’s rare for them to come to high school programs in the first state UNLESS they’ve seen you out of state or heard of you from a source in state! Harsh reality in DE But it’s possible and we have plenty of talent!

* I consider MT south because they are south of the canal. Yeah I know they play in Henny North but they play for the South in Blue Gold

We have the same percentage of talent as any state but is a smaller amount well because its less people and we don't do like Maryland or Jersey and amass the talent on one or a few teams and play OOS vs the best .. Is what it is.. College coaches are lazy these days .. If they can go to a St Frances and see the best players in the state or supposedly the best in one shot then thats what they will do . That and rely on Rivals or 247 to rank them on measurable's and tee shirt and shorts drills.. They sell tickets by acquiring 5 star recruits and thats the game now.. Hell they probably haven't even watched film on half the kids they offer.. If the measurables are there they figure they can coach up the rest.. They are recruiting athletes these days not "football" players.. Its why when you watch the game today many of the players can't tackle properly, have poor technique, make mistakes like jumping off sides constantly but they can break up a pass or catch the ball with one hand. lol

The kid was not buried in obscurity people just hardly look or give adequate evaluations outside of the top 3-5 teams unless the team has a good record. Brandywine has been competing with good teams the last couple of years but because they haven't had much success in a good while people only look at wins and losses assume they are a bad team. Before the season when that top 75 list came out I said he was one of the top kids in the state that no one knew about.

I get that but thats besides the point.. My point was I love it when a kid that folks don't know about for whatever reason comes to Blue Gold and shows his stuff. Carr will have this game and his plays he made the rest of his life. Regardless what he goes on to do. Just like the replacement player from Tower Hill did my sons year.. Its great.. Buried in obscurity was over emphasizing to make a point

Defense are not better in the south. There have been just been good teams playing some bad teams and/or some bad offenses but the defenses in the South isn't significantly great than those in the North.

How about this for a D1 vs D2 player debate. Every kid mentioned above in today's blue gold game highlights outside of the kicker was a D2 player. I can even include Benson in that because he started in D2.

You would be wrong about that Sir at least in the last three years. I have noticed and I watch these sort of things .. The defensive players in the south are more aggressive and more technical and tackle well.. The North has become 7v7 players on D .. Just an observation.. Not that the athletes are less up north just whats being taught..

Nice point but Drew Fry was mentioned and threw a TD and Benson from ST G scored other than that it was all D2 guys

@BackinBlack86 Let's talk about it. I'm bored at work now. How you figure that

Just an observation.. when North plays South teams South teams just play good team defense and tackle well.. Maybe they cant defend good spread teams so well but lets face it there is only a couple of them in DE. Central won last year with one of the best defensive teams I have seen in 9 years in DE.. Gold wins 3 straight on good D, Woodbridge had a awesome D line and rung a couple up.. Delmar is always good at D MT is good at D (yeah I know they play in North but like I said I consider them south)

I have a challenge for you name one team in the North in the last 10 years not named Sallies, St Marks or Caravel that has had a good defense

I just think coaches in the south focus more on defense and coaches in the north are all about the athletes and scoring.. Coaches in the north are younger and in the south older so there is that
