NEW ORLEANS -- The University of Delaware women's cross country, which made a strong showing with a third place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Championships this past Saturday, moved to No. 12 in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Mid-Atlantic Region poll.




The Blue Hens, who have posted four top three team finishes this fall, have now been ranked in the Top 15 in all seven polls this season.




Delaware will take this week off and continue action Nov. 15 at the NCAA District 2 Mid-Atlantic Regionals at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.




The Blue Hens recorded a strong finish at the CAA meet Saturday at Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville, Md. as Delaware had three top 20 finishes led by senior Emily Gispert, who finished ninth overall with a time of 22:17.95 on the six-kilometer course.




Delaware posted its second straight third place finish at the CAA meet despite the absence of top runner Lindsay Prettyman in the final standings. Prettyman, who had led the Hens in each race this season, dropped out of the competition midway through the race.




Georgetown remained at No. 1 in this week's Mid-Atlantic poll and was followed by Princeton, West Virginia, Penn State, Villanova, Duquesne, Lehigh, Pennsylvania, La Salle,Navy, Bucknell, Delaware, Saint Joseph's, American, and Pittsburgh.

NEW ORLEANS -- The University of Delaware women's cross country moved back one spot to No. 9 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll announced Tuesday.








The Blue Hens, who were off last week and will be again this weekend as they prepare for the Colonial Athletic Association Championships Nov. 2, have now been ranked in the top 10 two straight weeks and in the top 15 every week this season.








Delaware, led by second-year head coach Wendy McFarlane and top runner Lindsay Prettyman, has a 4-1 dual record this season and has finished either first or second in three different competitions. Most recently, the Hens captured their own Blue & Gold Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park on Oct. 12.








Georgetown remained in the top spot in the weekly poll and was followed by Princeton, Penn State, Villanova, West Virginia, Duquesne, Lehigh, Pennsylvania, Delaware,  La Salle, American, Pittsburgh, Saint Joseph's, Bucknell, and Navy.








Delaware will compete at the CAA Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville, Md. at 11 a.m. Towson will serve as the host of the meet. The Hens will be looking to improve upon last year's third place finish and capture its first league title since 1995.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Lindsay Prettyman led the University of Delaware women's cross country squad once again Saturday as she led the Blue Hens to a 25th place team finish at the 40th annual Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University's Goodman Course.








Prettyman, who has now led the team in all four meets this season and in 15 straight over three seasons, placed 77th overall with a time of 21:38 over the six-kilometer course.








Delaware collected 746 total points to finish 25th overall out of 48 teams in a race that featured some of the top teams in the region. Georgetown was the overall team winner with 112 points to outdistance Dartmouth, Villanova, Cornell, and Columbia in the top five. Abbey D'Agostino of Dartmouth was the individual champion with a time of 19:44.








Also for Delaware, Emily Gispert was 161st overall (22:16), Nicole Daly was 164th (22:18), Meredith Steenkamer was 182nd (22:25), Katrina Steenkamer was 187th (22:28), Alyssa Kennedy was 198th (22:32), Shannon Kelly was 237th (22:52), Melissa Talley was 326th (23:36), Kelley Foulke was 346th (23:55), and Betsy Erlanger was 367th (24:18).








Delaware also competed in the Open Race and was led by Rachel Weinberger, who placed 132nd with a time of 23:49.








"It was a hot and humid day, but our ladies met expectations for the meet," said head coach Wendy McFarlane. "We continue to achieve personal best performances and are working progressively towards better performances as the season moves along. It was exciting to beat some teams in our region."








Delaware will continue action Oct. 12 when the Blue Hens host the Blue-Gold Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park.

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. -- The University of Delaware women's cross country picked up its second straight impressive second place finish Saturday as the Blue Hens placed three runners in the top 10 at the Towson Invitational at Oregon Ridge Park Saturday morning.












Delaware, which is ranked No. 13 in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region, earned 42 total points to finish second, just seven points behind team champion and Colonial Athletic Association rival James Madison.












Oregon Ridge will be the site of the 2013 CAA Championships on Nov. 2 and Saturday's meet feature six CAA teams competing.












"The ladies had a great race today," said Delaware head coach Wendy McFarlane. "Running against conference teams and showing up the way we did was a good sign for future races. We had a lot of personal best performance again this week. I am so very proud of the team's effort and the success we've had so far this season."












College of Charleston was third in the team standings followed by host Towson, UNCW, Morgan State, Hofstra, District of Columbia, and Bowie State.












Prettyman led the Hens for the third time in three outings this season, for the 14th straight meet, and for the 17th time in the last 18 races as she placed third overall with a time of 17:59.80 over the six-kilometer course. Teammate Emily Gispert was right behind in fourth place with a time of 18:10.55, and Alyssa Kennedy was the Hens' third top 10 finish with an eighth place showing in 18:30.02.












Other Delaware finishers in the top 20 were Shannon Kelly (13th/18:41.61), Meredith Steenkamer (14th/18:43.54), and Katrina Steenkamer (15th/18:45.99).












Delaware will take next week off before returning to action Oct. 5 at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh.
