Donte - All Big 5

Not that it is as important as other recent events but Donte DiVincenzo has been named to the First Team All Big 5 team. It has been an interesting month for him...Big East 6th Man of the Year, MVP of the Final 4, picture on the over of SI.

I cannot remember a year where 4 members of the same team made first team All Big 5.

It is a Philadelphia thing. Villanova, St. Joe's, Penn, Temple and La Salle all play each other every year. It has been going on since 1956-1957. With the rise of conferences. It doesn't mean as much as back in the 60-70's.

Now with the advent of Diamond State Conference for football the All Non Conference team is Caravels roster. I assume they didn't do a All Non Conference team this year? Are Archmeres players on the All Catholic or the All Diamond State? Should the Diamond State buck up and let Caravel join?

The Big 5 History Site is not accessible at the moment so I have no clue. Suffice to say Terence Stansbury of Temple (Newark) has to have made an All Big 5 team in the 1980's. Also Charles Rayne of Temple (IR) should have made one of those annual Big 5 teams.

I am unsure of Will Sheridan (Nova) Sanford.

rr, yes relatively meaningless except to the schools. I think there will be a 1000 people at the Palestra for their breakfast next week.

I have seen 3 players from the same school on first string All Big 5 before but never 4. Then, again, Nova rules....

That's the Big 5 HOF. I believe there is a history section being revised that lists the results of every City Series game as well as the annual All Big 5 teams. The only DE name I see in the Big 5 HOF is Terence Stansbury. This year, Adrianna Hahn (Ursuline/Nova) made 2nd team all Big 5. With 2 years left she should be making First Team next year. Donte is a lock for the Big 5 HOF after April 2nd's performance.

It is walk down memory lane but all City Series games were played at the Palestra from 56-57 until the late 1980s. At one time every team played 95% of their home games there and there were like 3 doubleheaders a week. Those days are long gone but there were a lot of great basketball games.
