FNL Scores.. I don't know what week it is

Maybe if every Highschool team in DE can recruit out of State.. Pretty sure they would be on Sallies level. DE is only State that allow Private Schools get away with that.. lol
So what are you saying? out of state players are better than in state? They aren't recruiting from California or Ohio like IMG They are restricted to an area where kids can actually get to school in a reasonable amount of time like every school in DE They are located in a 30 mile radius of three states so they pull from them.. Are you telling me a kid from Exton PA or Elkton Md is a better player than one from Newark DE?

It’s an old, tired excuse

previs, unsure of where you are shaking out on this discussion. The tired old excuse is what here?
Sals have always had FB players from Chesco and Delco.

Sallies has been getting kids from PA, NJ, and MD for decades. The argument USED to be why don’t they have more championships. The difference from the years prior is their playbook isn’t outdated and kids are now playing to their strengths. Delledonne are putting the kids in position to succeed and win games. Like a previous poster stated before, the sals faithful are probably jumping in joy for having an offensive coach that knows how’s things work these days.

MT….you have made the point perfectly. I sit in the stands 4-5 time a year with some old Sals grads. They are getting used to the offense. Yes, they love winning. Delle Donne is the real deal. I hope he can find a DC to take the place of Coach Worrilow.

The real problem is not where the kids come from, it's the standards that have been lowered just to keep Sallies relevant in football and a couple of other sports. Sallies can't do it in football anymore with just legacy kids, they now have to get kids from those academic powerhouses like MT and DMA. It's sad, really, that so many Sallies defenders pretend this isn't happening, and again, it's not just football.

Man; you have a serious case of SDS, Sallies Derangement Syndrome.

You're 100% correct and I have the chutzpah to call it out. Tell you what, substitute Howard or DMA for Sallies, and my argument still holds true. Lowering standards, especially academic ones, just to stay relevant in a sport, or sports, is the work of small-minded adults.

Lowering standards, especially academic ones. Who is lowering academic standards?

All schools besides maybe charter have lowered academic standards.

People freaking out about sallies is hilarious. They won a championship last year for the 1st time in awhile. Good chance they win it this year as well.

When did DMA become an academic powerhouse?? Also, Sallies right now is just better than everyone else at playing the "recruiting" game. MT/Smyrna/Appo they are all doing it but Sallies is winning and that is where the kids want to play. Have you seen Sallies facilities vs other HS, no brainer where kids want to play.

I watched car after car leave Brandywine HS 2015 with PA tags, Concord high the same kids from Chester

This is where the worm turned.. New stadium and a new coach with a forward view of thinking.. Kids of all creeds and colors feel welcome to come there now and want to go there.. Funding is no issue. Its that simple.. We have always said if Sallies became something like the MIAA programs or WCAC or St Joes Prep it would be game over.. DE just doesn't have multiple privates at that level.. just one.. Sallies could have done this 10 years ago.. Sallies can actually pursue a National ranking if this continues. ie.. Their Lax and Soccer programs GDD even said as much in a article.. He wants to be able to schedule some National games... That attracts players..as we have seen before with Smyrna and Middletown and before them Red Lion.. Public schools just don't have the funding to sustain it.

That is a false statement.. Many states best programs are private schools.. CA,OH,MD,PA,NY,FL,KY,AZ,NV,UT,LA,SC,NC etc.....and kids come in from other states as well as across the country and over seas

Didn't Middletown just have transfers from PA and MD? yeah they did.. it was allowed.. The last time I checked Middletown was not a private school.

Private schools rely on tuition and alumni donations to survive. None of that comes if you suck at sports unless you are Georgetown Prep or some high profile academic and politically connected school. It is smart business to invest in your sports programs as that attracts booster money and students.. Is what is. In a lot of ways private schools operate like a private university. In all honesty if my kid was coming in now I would send him to Sallies or Caravel but Sallies if D1 college offers was a major goal.

Really we are talking about Parochial Schools not necessarily private .. they are the ones who have taken the enrollment hit the last two decades and had to make changes..

Someone please define the word “recruit” when it comes to Salesianum with either sports, academics, or anything else for that matter. To those that simply don’t like the school or program, it comes across as a “pay to play” accusation. When it really has to do with parents (and students) who want a quality education, competitive sports programs and faith based environment. Compared to other private all boys schools in the vicinity (ie Malven Prep) it’s half the cost. If a parent can afford the tuition, make sacrifices, get financial aid to send their son to that school, why the hate? To me it’s “sour grapes”

Maybe we need a transfer portal for High School.. Players can enter and then every coach gets a shot at them lol

its really not that bad of an idea..kinda levels the playing field..

To answer your question. Anytime a player transfers there will be people saying they were recruited regardless of knowing nothing or anything about the situation.. Is what is is.. Haters gonna hate.. don't sweat it

When DiNardo won back to back titles in 05 and 06, the same stuff was said. Then Middletown jumped up as did Smyrna. This is a cyclical fixation. I think Sussex Central is on the horiizon.

Sour grape or sallies dislike is fine to call out, but also as a Sallies supporter which its seems you are to say there is not recruiting happening is silly. Recruiting defined as: Come take a private tour of our school coach led etc. Sallies is not the only one doing this.

So I will take a different approach on this. A public school will always be looking up. Sallies will only get bigger and better. The coaches and administration is in place and willing to invest. I think we can all agree on that.

So now the other view. Build a sustainable program. Invest in your program and players. That does not mean financially. Be there for them, keep communication open. Keep the gyms open, build a weight program, get in real trainers - not leg tappers. Strength and conditioning - all sports. Build it and be consistent.
What that means to a 13-14-15-16-year-old, is that they care. In turn they want to beat the Sals. They focus on that. Playing in front of 3500 in the big game, proving they are just as good if not better. WE all love the underdog story. People hop on this and want to be a part of that. Beating big brother is fulfilling. Having the goal to beat the big bad team is something you can rally your players to. Invest, be consistent, and don't give up after 2 years and change coaches. it can and will happen.
WIll the Sals be bigger and better, sure... However, you only have to beat them once. It's a goal, it's a focus. Embrace it.

It may sound corny and a pipe dream, but it beats the crap out of complaining!

Maybe twice because in this kissing your sister state tourney setup any team might have to play an opponent twice.

What???.. Name a Public School in Delaware that is pulling from another State in 30 mile Radius.. Iam waiting?? Because not happen.. That's why other States is not allowing Private schools and Public Schools play each other for State Championships.. Forgot we in DE.. People lost behind time in Sports.. Prime example.. Ursline recruited Banks and Taylor to play at Ursline.. They both from P.A. Do think Dover would of have a chance.. Hell No because they is out 30 me raduis.. You only get away with that in DE.. 💯 facts..

Missing piont.. And all the States you mentioned. Do not allow Private and Public Schools play against each other in Playoffs either. Think you better Google the facts..smh. Only Delaware allows Private Schools to do that..smh..

Pretty sure I know the facts. Every state I mentioned except Maryland privates play publics in the playoffs. That wasn't even what you you said. You said DE was the state that allows privates to recruit out of state.
