where to begin? SMH.. First off congrats to Laurel they came out fired up expecting to win and played hard all game.. CA got off to their typical slow start this season... Laurel starts game with a very nice drive to go up 6-0.. CA fumbles the snap first play off their drive Laurel recovers.. From there CA D stiffens up and ends the offensive scoring for Laurel in the first half.. CA drove inside the 10 twice ony to give the ball away.. The second time was a killer.. 2nd and goal from the 5 CA has to call time out to avoid a delay then runs one of those plays where the motion man intercepts the snap.. Timing was off the snap wasnt handled and #4 for Laurel scoops and score.. Huge swing in the game.. 13-7 Laurel at Half... CA to get the ball first in 2nd.
Laurel kicks onsides CA player doesnt handle it Bulldogs ball... With MO on their side Laurel marches it in to go up 19-7... With their back to the wall CA responds driving and scoring twice while shutting the Bulldog Offense down.. CA goes up 20-19 with about 4min left... D puts Laurel in 4th and about 18 or so.. A stop here could seal the deal... Laurel throws one up for grabs deep.. Both the DB and WR are in good postion waiting for the jump ball neither with any hands on the other. Both jump for the ball at same time with both hands reaching for the ball.. Balls falls to ground CA ball.. hold UP!! out come the flag and a just terrible PI on CA is called.. Later in the drive with about 1.55 left on another 4th down Laurel goes to the same play .. This time Savave has him and is in great possion.. Ball is under thrown Laurel WR grabs Savages arm and yanks him down and comes back to the ball and catches what proves to be the game winner.. this time same ref keeps flag in pocket.. I guess you have expect that on the road down there.. Really not too mad about its as CA should never have been in a possition to let calls like that matter anyhow
With 1.55 left CA goes to spread dinks and dunks down the field. ( for whatever reason clock kept running on two plays when the WR got OB... they did get one correceted but about 10 secs were stolen, This also would not matter in the end.. CA hits a big play to TE down the middle setting up 1st and goal at the 10 with 55 secs left and two TO's.. Then the final gift to Laurel via the CA staff.. For whatever reason they call to spike the ball.. leaving them with 3 shots to score instead of 4.. CA came close on one of the attempts but the WR could not hold it.. CA left 30 sec., one time out and most importantly one play on the field due to the spiking... SMH..
Hats off to Laurel though they played it untill the end and came out on top.. but they needed some help and they got it from CA losing 4 fumbled snaps, giving up a onside kick, a little zebra hep to get them over the hump and the coaching gaff at the end... Christmas comes early in Laurel.. LOL just kidding..
Not mad though CA had 9 guys playing both ways all year.. The offense never seemed to find any rythem or consistency and really no identity all year. Certainly not your typical Caravel offense hard to go far with that.
Good luck to Laurel vs Friends.. Interestimg match-up
