MT v Millville scrim?

Isn’t there a whole formula on how they decide who goes up and who goes down. I think with DMA’s enrollment that might be an issue compared to other schools. Maybe a team like Woodbridge or Delmar has a better shot?

There is a formula but they have also said there will be a process for teams that wanted to ask to move up. What that process is hasn't been decided yet or at least made public in a meeting

As for enrollments they go like this

Howard 878, WB 676, Delmar 659, DMA approx 600

Not enough of a difference for DMA not to be able move up should they apply to.. In my opinion.

The way I feel is if you can at least compete with middle of the pack in the next level up then you should be granted the shot. ..on the flip side if you can compete with the middle of the pack in the class your in you definitely should not be moved down.

Let’s just have the winners of each division play in their own tourney at the end to determine a real state champion!! 😂

I wish they would take enrollment out of the equation….In my opinion….at least in Delaware….a good coaching staff with small enrollment will beat a large enrollment with mediocre coaching more times then not….Smyrna was D2 for many years…yes enrollment went up but let’s be honest…their staff was the biggest change….the old HC would still be under 500 even with a larger pool to choose from.
I think enrollment does matter just for numbers. Some schools can’t even have JV teams anymore how would they compete with teams that have deep Freshman and JV teams

His argument though is the teams that USUALLY can’t/struggle to field JV or freshman teams are typically the ones not winning in the playoffs. And therefore if you aren’t winning in the playoffs you don’t deserve to move up, but more likely to move down.

so enrollment should weigh on the decision, however we all can agree on just not as much as they think or want it to weigh. I do agree if you’re more than competitive in your own class and want a shot to move up then have at it. BUT you have to be able to be competitive with the lower part of the upper class that you want to move into

Do it like premier soccer league….last 3 places move down….top from lower classes move up 1 class. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You should look at enrollment numbers but a better number to look at is football participation in conjunction with total enrollment. . You have a program like HVT when they were in D2 have 100 kids out for football and D1 enrollment schools like Delcastle (approx 500 more students than HVT) with 35-40 kids in the football program. If you go by a percentage then 8-10% (double that for all boys school) of the total enrollment participation in football is a good turnout. 1000 students then 80-100 kids come out for football. Some schools do better with the percentages some do worse. Maybe instead of just using raw enrollment numbers they look at that coupled with a percentage of kids going out for football? Along with the recent success of the programs of course.

I remember reading the formula was 50% enrollment 30% last 5 years record and 20% last 3 years record or something like that. Maybe the 50% should have football participation factored in.

It may have been him. He was open the entire time, the corner was probably 2 steps behind him on that play and once the ball was in the air the corner either just stopped running or thought he had some safety help but you weren’t catching that receiver regardless

Brooks switched to #1 but looks like he pretty much took the night off and played decoy. Jr #11 Haile did all the damage in the passing game.

Here is some highlights for those interested

Exactly! Been saying it for years. Enrollment is one thing but the true measure of a football program is how many kids are actually playing football. Not sure why DIAA can't figure that out. I guess it's too much work for them.
