RR2 games of interest

St G @ CR- must win for St G?
St Marks @ Caravel- another tough game CA needs this one
Howard @ HVT- ride the Harley
McKeen @ Glasgow- can McKeen start 2-0 say it aint so
DMA @ Milford- tells us who is what
Franklin(Md) @ Smyrna- tough game to call Franklin may get Knighted
Dover @ Woodbridge- ehh just cuz
MTown @ W Penn- How are the fries at Penn?

I will try an get an injury report on Franklin. They got pretty beat up by DeMatha's behemoths lol

DMA / Milford game features 2 teams replacing multi-year starting QBs in Hudson (4yr) and Kimmel (2yr). Figuring out the QB situation and who can get the best play out of the position could be a huge deciding factor.

CR has to feel good beating Appo in OT to start the season and it's definitely a must-win for St. G so that's a sleeper for game of the weekend. I'll give it to St. Georges.

Caravel blanked St. Mark's last year when the Spartans had Sullivan/Balint/Palmer, so now that those guys are in college, gonna go with Caravel again.

Howard's offense looked unbeatable against St. G but Coach Moffett always has his guys ready to roll so it won't be easy, but Howard picks up another 6 points.

If McKean can beat Tatnall and Glasgow in the first two weeks, Flight B should take them seriously. Don't see it happening though.

Don't know enough about Franklin, my Maryland preps knowledge has fallen off since I moved back to Delaware six years ago. But I know Coach Judy's going to make the necessary adjustment - More Will Knight. Give me the Eagles.

Woodbridge can get an important 6 points and with Dover struggling to stay with Archmere last week, I think they get it.

Penn's fries are awesome, but Middletown gets the win.

Other games of note:

Laurel at St. E - can the Vikings make my 1-9 prediction absolutely unfounded two weeks into the season? Laurel needs a win to avoid falling out of playoff contention early, so this should be a good one. I'll take St. E's.

Archmere vs. Conrad on Saturday in an early Diamond State Conference tilt. Should be competitive, but I think Archmere gets it done.

Dickinson (@ Mount) and Brandywine (hosting Christiana) each have good chances to go 2-0 on Saturday as well. Brandywine might be a surprise playoff team in D2 the way things are looking.

Don't sleep on Laurel/St E game. Laurel is coming off of a 4-6 season that saw them lose 3 games by a combined 7 points including a 3 point loss to D2 state champion Woodbridge. Laurel lost a significant portion of their backfield from last year including their QB Perez Nichols, but look for them to bring a no nonsense physical brand of football with them on Friday.

Laurel is a no nonsense physical type team but, you can't coach size and they don't have any.

No major injuries for Franklin. They should be at full strength. The Maryland prognosticators seem to be split 50/50 between Smyrna or Franklin. One thing they all do agree on is it should be a close game

Definitely a must win for St Georges. I have STG bouncing back against CR but if CR can pull off a 2-0 start that will be great for the program against 2 quality opponents.

Hey RR, where do you read all the stuff on Maryland teams, the MDpreps page? I've been looking for something like this forum that talks about some of the teams our instate guys play.

OTS... Laurel has decent size for a D2 school. 3-4 big bodies 265+ up front. primary back is about 220 and can move. Skill guys are around 5-11 to 6-1 and play hard. Maybe you are thinking of another team or college team size. Should be a good game against St. Es.

Baltimore Sun forum. There is some good stuff on the forum itself but that forum has a private message feature and that is where all there real good information is. Bunch of coaches on there. I also text some coaches I know from the Harco Horns days

I guess just a matter of opinions. I didn't see it! A gentleman sitting to my right even said;"where are the big kids, it's like we are watching a Pop Warner Team."

Hopefully smyrna plays their freshman whipper snapper QB. I'm hearing he is outplaying the transfer bigly

Yeah could be opinion or sitting in the nose bleeds but like I said they have some kids with size. Not saying they don't have any smaller statue kids but the abundance of "big" kids is the difference in D1 and D2. I do believe their biggest kid Gillespie (6-0 310) is out with an injury. Overall they are bigger than AI and Woodbridge 2 of the top teams everyone in here is picking.

If Laurel has size, what happened against Brandywine? They went 3-7 last year

bbmvp... Size doesn't win you football games especially in D2. I just said Laurel is bigger than Woodbridge and AI both are expected to make playoffs and look at Glasgow losing and they look like men compared to IR.

As far as the Bulldog vs Bulldog matchup specifically 2 things Laurel was lead by Perez and a sizable group of seniors so a little drop off is expected bit I said before Brandywine could be a sleeper team in D2. They went 3-7 but word is they were in position to beat St. George's, Howard and Hodgson until they folded in the 4th quarter. With them returning a lot of seniors and 10 starters that is a recipe for any successful HS team.

OTS you said Laurel doesn't have any size? Their right tackle #53 is huge and a beast did you see him play against Brandywine? He looks to about 6'0-6'2 probably 320, and still move. He was taking on double teams and still making tackles. You must have been at the concession stand when he got through the line jumped and batted down a pass. He seems to be the only solid offensive linemen.
