Sals football

All of you people think you know your stuff about football. But you have never seen the once in a generation talent that Salesianum has in Gabe Puzzengara. The man has an arm of an NFL quarterback. He is more calm in the pocket then any high school quarterback I’ve ever seen. decision making is obviously his best attribute, never seen the kid make a mistake. When Puzzengara comes back Salesianum will not play a close game again for the rest of the year. They will beat Middletown by 25
Thanks, Gabe

I look forward to seeing Sussex Tech again. They were physically impressive. Plus their band was incredible.

I got a first-hand report from Urbana last night from an old friend of Bummy’s, retired sprinkler fitter. Good people. He warns that the Sals are a run of the mill mediocre team even at 4-0 thus far. He said that Urbana was the worst Frederick County team he has seen in years.

I have seen the Sals 3 times this year and they won all 3. What is his problem? He said the Sals don’t hit hard and are slow, etc., etc.

That got me thinking.

Fellas, let’s take a look at the record.

They are 4-0! Let’s examine their wins. Concord is 0-4. Concord has scored 3 points all year and have given up 154. OK, it’s a drop off from the usual Concord standard. Sussex Tech is 2-2 but their wins are over 2 D2 schools and the Sals just didn’t get push from the O-line in that game. Father Judge is 1-4. Gimme shelter. Urbana is 0-5. They have scored 53 points but have given up 192. The cumulative record of the Sals’ opponents thus far is 3-15.

Wake up, Sals’ fans. The 4-0 is a mirage.

The Sals now have 3 consecutive road games against Episicopal 3-1, Middletown, and Penn. It looks like maybe 1-2 at best but then they get to play Westminster at home, Smyrna on the road and St Mark’s at Baynard...We are looking at a 5-5. Maybe 6-4 team if they are lucky.

Sorry, is there a realist in the house?

I know some well intentioned person will post here that I am a hater. Nah! My son in law has made me see the light but the Sals are just a year away from ringing the bell.

I hope to get to the Sals Middletown game with my son in law.

So, I have a question for you then. Does 5-5 or 6-4 get them into the playoffs?

Sals is going 7-3 and counting points to get in Which they will because other than MT D1 sucks

MT Flight A
Smyrna Hen North
Sals at large

other than them there is nothing to talk about Dover really let me down just saying

This is playing out as a non standard year. 6-4 might get them in assuming 2 bonus points from Middletown, 1 maybe 2 from Westminster, possibly 1 from St. Marks. As someone has opined D1 is having some quality issues.
fan, I hope you are right. My son in law needs his spirits lifted. Think maybe he is having doubts about joining the family?

Fair answer. Personally, I have them 8-2 or 7-3 and making the playoffs.

raven, you got them going 3-3 from this point out. Who are they going to beat. Penn will be loaded and ready. Sals won't beat Middletown or Smyrna?

Penn is loaded and ready ?

Are we talking about William Penn in New castle DE?

Everyone seems to think MT is invincible ? I don’t . Smyrna is beatable as well. St Marks is a gimme.

That means you have the Sals beating Episcopal up there on Friday night. That might be a reach. Episcopal is 3-1 and usually has 2-3 D1 type talent players.

Episcopal is no prob.. Having a D1 player or 3 doesn't matter,, Episcopal cant handle Sals up front

Sallies is a 6-4 team. But probably still make it to playoffs because Hen North may beat each other up.

MTown
Smryna
Hodgson
Central
Sallies
Last spot to Hen North unless St. Georges can sneak in and take it

I hope the Big S runs the table so my son in law will be happy but I would have to say that Episcopal Academy, Westminster, Smyrna, Middletown.

I think the best chance to win one of those games will be Westminster.

It doesn’t matter because everytime they win everyone will just say their opponent isn’t any good or isn’t as good as we all thought.

footballguy. The sequence of the schedule has been good for the Sals as they have apparently the youngest team in memory. They can truly get better week to week.

That Oline must be making you proud. I heard that the Sals threw the ball over 10 times last night.

Untimely fumbles hurt against Judge. This team is an up and comer but if the schedule was in reverse order they would not be 4-0.

Good luck against EA.

I agree they are young but from the 3 games I was at a saw a lot of bright spots and a couple really good players

OK, I get it about Penn. They have some talent on that squad. After a couple of missteps maybe they will start to put it together.

Sallies will go 8-2. They will lose to Middletown AT Middletown. And will split Westminster and Smyrna. At worst they lose both those games. And still make the playoffs but get the 3-4th seed because of bonus points.

The only scenario I see the Sals NOT making the playoffs is losses to Mtown, Smyrna, Westminster and St. marks.

Smyrna will lose one more game. To sallies or either Dover, Central or Tech.

So if I had to pick my playoffs right now,
It's Middletown, Sallies, Hodgson, Smyrna, Sussex Central, with Dover/St. George's battling for that last spot.

When I get home from the bar, I'll work on the points

Bummy Sals will beat Episcopal..so we will have to deal with them being 5-0 just saying lol though the game is at Episcopal and the students/fans there are rude as hell (cursed at and flipped off Mrs Rooster as we walked into the stadium because she was wearing her sons jersey as well as spat on CA's cheerleaders) none the less they are not going to beat Sals they are to poorly coached no matter what talent they may have

Unce Bummy; we haven't heard much from you lately re your favorite coach, Brian Kelley. I think you are starting to warm to him. I agree the Sals schedule is the poorest I have ever seen but it is probably due to two things. A young team to work with and quite possibly the worst Delaware competition in memory. The decline of programs like Newark, Penn, and Concord is striking.

Rerun. Last year, the Irish were #3 or #4 later in the season and visited Miami. Miami ran them out of the stadium. I am a Notre Dame fan but next week I look for Va Tech to stun the Irish on Saturday night. If they get by Virginia Tech they have a solid shot to make the playoffs.

Check out rooster's thread on the ND-Stanford game. I am still not a Kelly fan..

I don’t like the new ND. They look and act like Miami. It’s not your fathers Irish anymore. I blame Kelly for turfing the hallowed grounds.

I understand but it is 2018. You are reacting to the stuff you see. Let's go back a ways. Even though the team stunk, Paul Hornung won the Heisman. What an all American boy! He was the Golden Boy. He is one of the all time NFL players...9 years later we realize he was one of the greatest partiers of all time. He gambled when he played for the Packers. He always bet on the Packers. The Packer's covered the spread like 13 out of 14 times in 1962. He lost all of his money back betting on Notre Dame but I digress.

Don't confuse kids having a good time with cultural decline.

ND self reports and regularly suspends and throws kids out.

(I still like Paul Hornung...)

Actually when I was a kid my best friend was a ND fan. I was a USC fan just to counter him Lol. Those USC v ND games defined my youth. My son became a ND fan then I followed suite. None the less I still hate Kelly for digging up that dirt that the hero’s of my youth played on. Just saying.
