He was truly the Golden Boy. He lied to Lombardi about gambling. Lombardi told he loved him anyway.
When Hornung slowed down, Vince replaced him with Elijah Pitts then traded Hornung and Taylor to New Orleans for their #1 pick. Lombardi loved his guys but wasn't too sentimental.
Do you think that artificial turf is a recruiting tool? That may sound nutty but if the skill position players believe that regular grass slows them down then they might get turned off my real turf. Would that have hurt ND recruiting in the past?
