Hyland did well ... Matthews just has better team...Smyrna wins 71-60. Hyland had about 22/23 while I think Matthews had about 24. Smyrna simply has the better team. #11 for St. George’s made it a little interesting hitting some shots but Garnett & Veasley owned the paint. Smyrna had to have 4-5 players score in double figures.
Hyland didn’t play bad at all...Smyrna was just able to throw double teams at him often & limit him to take some tough shots. Saying that him scoring 22/23 limited him says a lot but that’s what they did. Matthews was more efficient tonight because St. George’s allowed him to come off of screens & get open looks...he didn’t force many shots tonight like I have seen him do in the past. Like I said Smyrna simply has the better team.Hyland did well ... Matthews just has better team...
Yes... Matthews played more of the flow of the game.. Instead of forcing alot of shots.. Hyland can play. Wonder is Bloodsworth is ok... Never returned to the game...Hoopsdownstate you were at the game?
@Hoopsdownstate2 Absolutely Hyland can play & nobody in their right mind should argue that. I think it’s safe to say that you were not at the game tonight though because Bloodsworth returned to the game like 2 minutes later in the 2nd quarter & had a very strong second half. He controls the game for Smyrna handling the rock, facilitating & scoring when need be...I think he finished w/ 13 pts.Yes... Matthews played more of the flow of the game.. It was so loud right then that I didn’t think that Hyland even realized that it was an offensive foul call on him at first. I have seen St. George’s play multiple times & he likes to use the off hand to fend off defenders so opposing players & coaches have been alerting the refs to be aware of it. I think somebody said that he fouled out of a game earlier this season where 3 of his fouls were offensive. Give him one other offensive threat on that team & they would be a problem.Turning point in 4th quarter, Hyland scored on a great reverse layup and got fouled. Building erupted. Refs waved it off calling Hyland for offensive foul. Basket and free throw would have brought SG within 4. Griffin was hot about the call as it happened right in front of their bench.
Yes i noticed that... If he dribble left or right he always use the off hand to push off to get seperation... Small habit.. That he can fix... But its an offensive foul e everytime...It was so loud right then that I didn’t think that Hyland even realized that it was an offensive foul call on him at first.
