Any truth to St. Thomas More closing at the conclusion to this school year? I also noticed they have incomplete sports schedules on websites4sports.com for next year in their fall and winter sports. 2-3 games max thus far.

School's been teetering on the edge of that for a minute, wouldn't surprise me if it's true. Gonna be interesting to see where the boys and girls hoops talent that's left goes.

Not saying the rumors are false but I haven't heard anything about closing. A letter was sent out earlier this year stating that they are transitioning the management of the school back to Holy Cross Catholic School at the Parish level. I was under the understanding that STMA was kind of run independently of Holy Cross and had a board that reported and was subsidized directly by the Archdiocese of Wilmington.

I don't know if these changes will effect enrollment next year or pull more kids from Holy Cross but changes are definitely on the way. But I also noticed that both boy and girls made the payoffs but scheduled Freire Charter School who only fielded JV last year, maybe that gives us some hints: De-emphasize sports, JV only?

If true & their point guard Greg Bloodsworth (who was one of the most underrated point guards in the state in my opinion) decides to return to his district school of Smyrna then that would be an even stronger Smyrna team as the favorite to repeat next year. Alvin West was also a top player for the St. Thomas More team this year whose district school is also Smyrna.

If Smyrna getting those kids they better be playing out of state schools for their non conference schedule
