I am aware that "hype talk & a little taunting the week of a game" has been a part of every sport, one way or another. I am referring too "true trash talking" (the BS that comes out of players mouths)...needs to stop!! Players should...Play the game, do not make excuses and be the "big tough guy" between plays.
When you get beat, get ready for the next play, do not say anything.
When you make a big play, "act like you have been there before".
Nothing good comes from running your mouth. Too often that 15 yard penalty should never have happened if players/coaches/fans thought twice before speaking once.

Sportsmanship means many things!

Totally agree. I watch HS football every Friday and there hasn't been a team I've seen yet that hasn't taunted, trash-talk, or do a little extra-curricular.

Hate to sound like a fuddy-duddy but I would love to see it get cleaned up a bit.

It starts with the coaching IMO, I'm old school ! In the words of Joe Pa "What is a coach? We are teachers, educators. We have the same obligations as all teachers, except we probably have more influence than anybody but their families. And in a lot of cases more than their families"!! The taunting and unsportsmanship shown through out the state is evident that times are changing and not for the could! I 've seen more unsportsmanship and personal fouls in the first 2 weeks than I've seen in along time!

Do you think that kids mimic what they see on Saturdays and Sundays? I mean, an in-play aggressive foul is way different than the post-play aggressive foul...and I have seen a ton more of the latter on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Why football? have you ever played basketball, baseball?? it happens, even in the mother friendly sport of soccer.
