NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware Director of Athletics and Recreation Services Eric Ziady announced on Wednesday the promotion of six members of the Blue Hens athletics staff.




Augie Maurelli was promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations; Stacey Bunting-Thompson was promoted to Senior Associate AD for External Relations; Jerry Oravitz was promoted to Associate AD for Football Administration; Alicia Greco-Walker was promoted to Associate AD for Events and Operations; Jimmy Smith was promoted to Assistant AD for Multimedia Services; and Lauren Harris was promoted to Assistant AD for Compliance.




"We are excited to announce these promotions and reorganization within our athletics department," said Ziady. "We are fortunate to have a talented and hard-working support staff for our programs and these six members have each played significant roles on our team. We look forward to their continued success as they take on greater responsibilities in the growth of Blue Hen athletics in the years ahead."




Maurelli, who previously served as Assistant Director of Athletics for Strength and Conditioning, Associate Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Performance, and Associate Director of Athletics of Financial Strategies and Athlete Performance, joined the Delaware staff in 2010. He oversees all aspects relative to financial planning and fiscal management for UD Athletics & Recreation Services as well as serving as the program administrator for men's lacrosse and field hockey.




Maurelli earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with a bio-mechanical focus from Johns Hopkins University in 1997 and later earned his MBA in finance from The McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University in 2002. He previously served as a strength and conditioning coach and assistant athletic director for performance and leadership at Georgetown and previously worked in finance at Goldman Sachs and MCG Capital.




Bunting-Thompson, a Delaware native, who joined the University of Delaware as a member of the University Development team in January, 2009, previously served as Director of the UD Athletics Annual Fund/Blue Hen Club and most recently moved to the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics as Associate Director of Athletics for External Relations in December, 2009. She previously served for nine years as a member of the athletics staff at the University of Miami (Fla.) and was a member of the senior leadership team there prior to coming to Delaware. She earned her degree in English with a minor in sports management from the University of Miami in 1998.




She oversees the University of Delaware Athletics Ticketing, Marketing, Media Relations and Multimedia departments and continues to work closely with the Athletics Development office while also serving as the liaison to the Blue Hens IMG Sports Network team. She has oversight in the areas of revenue generation activities encompassing ticket sales, customer relations, marketing, promotions, advertising, licensing, sponsorships and corporate relations, multimedia and sports information, and serves as a program administrator for men's and women's tennis, men's soccer and women's lacrosse.




Oravitz has served in the University of Delaware athletics program since 1997, including the past 11 years as Director of Football Operations for the nationally-ranked Blue Hens program. In addition to his duties as Director of Football Operations, Oravitz also has served as an Adjunct Instructor in UD's Sports Management program since 2002. During his 16 years at UD, Oravitz has advanced from a graduate intern to Athletics Operations Associate, and to his current position of Director of Football Operations. Oravitz also served as Special Assistant to the Athletics Director from 2007-2009 under former Athletic Director Edgar Johnson and was named Director of Football Operations in January, 2004.




A native of Delaware, Oravitz is a 1984 graduate of Salisbury (Md.) University and a 1998 master's graduate of Springfield (Mass.) College. He is responsible for directing the day-to-day administrative functions of the football program which includes budget management, fundraising, staff supervision, strategic facility planning, contract negotiations, coordinating on-campus recruiting, alumni affairs, managing student-athlete welfare, and organizing community relations for the team.




Oravitz is also responsible for assisting the athletics director with football scheduling and also collaborates with University departments to implement University program services for student-athletes and coaches.




Greco-Walker, a 2008 University of Delaware graduate, is currently in her fifth season on the UD athletics staff and her third as Assistant Director of Athletics for Operations in 2013-14. In her role, Greco-Walker coordinates day-to-day operations of Delaware's 21-sport athletics program, coordinating team practice needs, scheduling facilities for games and practices, and supervising a part-time student staff as game management for UD home athletics contests. She will also serve as the program administrator for women's golf and women's rowing.



She earned her master's degree in education at Delaware with a concentration in higher education administration and sport management in May, 2011 and her undergraduate degree in health and exercise science with a concentration in sport management and business administration in 2008. Prior to coming to Delaware in 2009, she worked for Octagon, a world-wide sports marketing firm, on their Lexus Champions for Charity account. She also worked for the New York Mets for two seasons out of their Corporate Sales and Sponsorships Department.




Smith was named the University of Delaware's first Director of Multimedia for Athletics in June, 2011. He oversees all day-to-day digital, new, and multimedia efforts for the University of Delaware Athletics Department, including UD social network outlets such as Twitter and Facebook. He also produces, edits, and distributes new video content including weekly athletics segments, and exclusive interviews, recaps, features, promotions, and highlights for the website www.bluehens.com. He produces Blue Hens Beat, a bi-weekly web news and feature show that covers events surrounding Blue Hen athletics as well as producing numerous webstreams of live sporting events for various UD athletics teams each year.




Smith earned his degree in journalism with a specialization in sports administration and sports marketing with honors from Ohio University in 2008 and his master's degree in business administration with a specialization in sports administration and sports marketing from Delta (Miss.) State in 2011.




Harris joined the University of Delaware Department of Athletics in September 2011 as the compliance intern and was promoted to compliance coordinator in July 2012. She is responsible for managing the NLI process, monitoring student-athlete eligibility, educating coaches, student-athletes and staff members on NCAA rules and regulations, serving as the liaison between athletics staff members and the Office of Admissions, Registrar's Office and Student Financial Services and tracking the completion of the Academic Progress Rate report.




Additionally, Harris coordinates student-athlete scholarships and financial aid while managing the NCAA Special Assistance Fund. Prior to arriving at Delaware, Harris worked for the Tulsa Shock and with the University of Central Florida Athletics Association. She earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from East Carolina University in 2007 and followed by earning a master's in business administration (2009) as well as a master's in sport business management (2010) from the University of Central Florida DeVos Sport Business Management program.
