we all know Caravel is the defending state champs. Smyrna made in to their first playoffs in forever last season. They beat St Georges and then got their hearts broken from this small private school team up north....wait for it...caravel squeaked out a 7-6 win over Smyrna in route to em their championship.
Smyrna had a good season putting up 12 wins but they finished up only winning 2 of their last 5 games (laurel and seaford). Caravel put up 14 wins including 5 straight wins to finish the season. They did get beat by Central in state and upset by Charter but their wins over top teams and their top pitchers is impressive: sallies (Hinton), Hodgson (Walter), Appo (Garrett) and St Marks and cape.
Smyrna was an unimpressive 2-5 against playoff teams. Caravel was 5-1.
Caravel only allowed 3 runs per game and finished the season only allowing 2 total runs in its final 5 games. Carney and Fraley are were very good with Fraley gaining serious steam through the season. At the plate Their 5 runs per game isn't that Impressive but given their competition all season it's orett good.
Smyrna has quietly had one of the best offenses all season scoring over 8 runs per game. They belted 11 HR's this year with Carrow and Gillis hitting 3 each. Smyrna has done well on the mound allowing 4 runs per game. They are led by Everage, Carrow and Dulin early.
