8) Cape Henlopen (18-3, Henny North/Conference champs) vs. 9) St. Georges (17-4):

The Hawks made quick work of Lake Forest last night and heads back to Lewes, where they lost 67-34 just two weeks ago. Hawks need to slow down Dania Cannon and Abby Hearn to have a shot, which Woodbridge found is tough to do. Cape could be headed on another run reminiscent of their 2011 state runner-up season. Cape 54, St. Georges 39

7) Hodgson (16-5, Flight A champs) vs. 10) Sussex Tech (15-6):

Another regular season rematch, a game the Ravens won handily (58-34) MLK weekend. Tech will pretty much do what most teams have tried this year - make ANYONE but Kayla Braxton-Young beat them. If they can do that, Tech will move on. KBY however has proven hard to stop, averaging close to 27 points a game this season and working herself into the POY conversation. If she goes off, Hodgson just needs to keep Tech's bigs from going crazy on the boards and they'll have a shot. Sussex Tech 61, Hodgson 57

6) St. Thomas More (17-3) vs. 11) Howard (18-4):

Mirror images of each other in Magnolia on Friday night - very good guard play, one outstanding wing...and nary a bench between them. The role players will matter because whoever gets something, anything from their bench will win this one. Might also come down to free throws, which is Howard's bugaboo and of course, there's the bus ride curse. Howard 54, STMA 51

5) Caravel (12-8) vs. 21) Tower Hill (13-8):

The Hillers took a tough one at Wilmington Christian, but...Caravel ain't Wilmington Christian. Plenty of talent at all positions and very battle-tested. The Bucs just have to look out for Tower Hill's stall tactics, but they should get a quick, large lead and rest their starters for the quarters. Caravel 64, Tower Hill 35

4) Woodbridge (20-1, Henny South champs) vs. 13) Sussex Central (14-7):

The Golden Knights spotted Tatnall a 16-point lead in the 3rd quarter before rallying to a rematch with Woodbridge, one the Blue Raiders only won by 5 points a couple of weeks ago. Janeira Scott is one of the state's best young guards and Cha'Kya Johnson is a post player who can get buckets. Best of all? They're only sophomores. This could be the beginning of a special era for the Blue Raiders, but they need to be ready for Central, who is always well-coached. Woodbridge 53, Central 49

3)Conrad (16-4, Independent Conference champs) vs. 14) Delcastle (16-5):

Delcastle used their size to stifle Charter but they'll need everything working in concert to even have a chance. And still, they'd need Conrad's starters to have bad games, which is unlikely. Conrad 63, Delcastle 44

2) Sanford (15-5, Diamond State champs) vs. 18) Archmere (13-8):

Dan Pisani has done it again. In spite of his girls conceding home court advantage, he coached the Auks to another 2nd round appearance, this time against Sanford. Sanford is probably one of only 3 teams that could win this whole thing, so all they have to do is stay healthy with bigger games ahead. Sanford 66, Archmere 45

1) St. Elizabeth (17-3, Catholic Conference champs) vs. 17) Ursuline (8-11):

And so they meet again...and again...and again. 3 times this season St. E and Ursuline have tangoed and 3 times St. E has won. Tournament time, however, is where John Noonan and his staff come alive and his girls will be ready. Trouble is, for the first time in maybe a few years, Ursuline doesn't have the horses. Ber'Nyah Ward-Mayo is a POY candidate. Juliann McCarronn and Arianna Henry stretch and space the floor quite well from 3. Ardavia Lee and Ashley Campbell are very capable post players on both ends of the floor. Familiarity can breed contempt, and St. E shouldn't let that dissuade them from a possible state championship. St. E 46, Ursuline 38

Ursuline-St. Elizabeth and Archmere-Sanford are both scheduled to be streamed by the NFHS Network. I'll be at St. Elizabeth for what promises to be a fantastic game.
