This will not be a problem at all schools, but those that expect deep football tournament runs will be at a disadvantage in winter sports. Normally, football players take a week off after the season before moving to their next sport.
St. Mark's, for example, has 5 basketball games scheduled within a week of the football championships if the Class 2A is on Saturday, December 10. That's a quarter of the basketball season. Their wrestling team has an invitational in Pennsylvania and a home match in that same time period. Middletown has 3 boys basketball games scheduled within a week of the end of football, including a game at Sanford on football championship Saturday. Caravel also has 3 hoops games in that same time period (including Sanford on December 16). Beast of the East wrestling is December 17-18, right at that one week mark.
Obviously, there are only so many weeks in the school year, but this overlap has really been accentuated since football expanded its tournament a year ago.
